Day With Windy (age 4)

Rainbow: what are we doing today mummy?

Windy whistles: well sweetie because daddy is out at work and I still want you too stay at home for another day, I thought we could just have a nice mother daughter day.

Rainbow: *excitedly* doing what mummy?!

Windy whistles: anything you like baby but because you're probably still not 100% we need to stay in the house.

Rainbow: *disappointed* awww!

Windy whistles: hey don't worry we can have loads of fun in the house, and we can still go in the garden.

Rainbow: *cheering up* ok!

Rainbow should've been at school but she'd had a fever the previous day and she still wasn't quite herself, so windy wanted to keep her at home for another day. However rainbow was feeling better and therefore didn't want to spend another day in bed, so windy decided they could spend the day together in the house and garden.

Windy whistles: how about some pancakes for breakfast sweetie?

Rainbow: *cheering* yes please!

Windy whistles: *chuckles* ok come on then!

They went into the kitchen and made the pancake batter, Windy allowed rainbow to help add the ingredients and mix them together. Rainbow ended up with most of it all over her, windy then cooked the pancakes and rainbow was absolutely amazed by the way she flipped them. Windy added some syrup and strawberries to rainbows pancakes and then they sat and enjoyed them.

Windy whistles: what would you like to do now dashie?

Rainbow: can we go in the garden and paint mummy?

Windy whistles: yes of course let's go and get the paints and paper.

She fetched the supplies and then she and rainbow made their way into the garden.

*in the garden*

Windy whistles: what should we paint then baby?

Rainbow: let's paint a rainbow!

Windy whistles: *chuckles* ok what colours do we need for a rainbow?

Rainbow: *concentrating* Um? Red, orange, yellow, green, blue, indigo and violet!

Windy whistles: yes! Good girl sweetie!

Rainbow had been learning the colours at school. Of course it helped that the she had rainbow coloured hair. They made the picture and left it in the garden, and made their way back inside the house.

Windy whistles: what now rainbow?

Rainbow: *sleepily* I'm tired mummy.

Windy looked at the clock and saw that it was almost lunch time.

Windy whistles: how about some chocolate spread sandwiches for lunch and then we can have a cuddle on the sofa and you can sleep?

Rainbow: ok mummy.

Windy made rainbows lunch and then they two of them sat on the sofa watching tv, rainbow fell asleep and windy gave her a gentle kiss on, the cheek. She was really have spent the day together.
