Since hanging out more whilst their friends had been going out to the pubs, rainbow had become much closer to indigo zap. Sure the blue haired athlete was still extremely irritating but rainbow knew her teasing was all in good fun and, she was now happy to call her a friend.

Indigo: so dashie got a boyfriend yet?

Rainbow: Zap I'm gay me and aj are dating remember?

Indigo: *chuckles* i know I'm teasing. lemon zest told me.

Rainbow: are you two...

Indigo: *laughing* ... what me and lemon? No we're just friends besides I'm straight.

Rainbow: so is there anyone who tickles your fancy?

Indigo: not at the moment.

They continued to talk for a while and then all of a sudden they heard someone shout from across the park.

Mystery Voice: * aggressively* OI WHAT THE FUCK DO YOU THINK YOUR DOING?!

The person made their way over and before either of the girls realised who it was, rainbow was on the floor clutching her which was now bleeding because the person had punched her. Now they both knew who it was.

Indigo: *to the mystery person* WHAT THE HELL LIGHTNING DUST?! *kneels down to help rainbow up* rainbow are you ok?

Rainbow: *stumbles* I'm fine.

Indigo: *shouts at lighting* what was that for?!

Lightning dust: Indy I'm just trying to protect you from the walking pride flag.

Lightning was one of rainbows bullies who hated the fact she was gay. She also happened to be one of indigo's older siblings and she was very protective of her.

Indigo: protect me from what exactly? Rainbows my friend!

Rainbow smiled warmly but flinched again when lightning started to get nasty again.

Lightning: *gets in indigo's face* how can you be friends with a sinful faggot like that?!

Rainbow was very hurt by this but was happy that applejack wasn't here or there would be blood. However applejack wasn't needed for there to be blood, rainbow saw that lightning was holding her lip where it was bleeding. Indigo had punched her.

Indigo: *shouts in lightning face* HOW DARE YOU CALL HER THAT! You might be my sister, but rainbows my friend and I'm not having you talk to her that way. *grabs rainbows hand and pulls her away* come on dashie let's go. *turns back to her shocked sister* oh and by the way lightning dust I am straight but even if I was gay there is nothing wrong with that, and you need to have good look in the mirror. If you can stomach it.

They left lightning dust and headed back rainbows house where applejack was waiting. They told her everything that had happened at the park, and aj went into her protective mode.

Aj: *stroking rainbows hair* why didn't you tell me? I could've come to you.

Rainbow: you were busy and besides zap handled it brilliantly. *to indigo* i just don't understand why did it.

Aj: yeah or why lightning is homophobic.

Indigo: *sighs* lightning dust thinks being gay is a sin and she thinks she's protecting me.

Rainbow: *concerned* indigo you mentioned in the park that you are straight, that's not because lightning has made you feel you've got to be that way is it?

Indigo: *waves off her concerns* oh no don't worry. My sister Shadow is pansexual and lightning can't stand her either, don't worry about her she's just an idiot who needs to learn respect. Anyway I'd best be heading home I'll see on Saturday rainbow when the girls go out drinking.

Rainbow: see you on Saturday.

After indigo left rainbow and applejack sat on the sofa and continued to talk about the days events. Rainbow couldn't believe help had come from an unlikely hero.

A/N: I said I wanted to show a nicer side to indigo zap and I think this story has done it perfectly. Rainbows got great friends who will be there for her no matter how hard it is for them.
