Rainbow: what is it mummy?

Windy whistles: it's called a bike sweetie. You ride it around and it's really fun!

Rainbow: *nervously* will I fall off?

Windy whistles: *chuckles* no sweetie, these small wheels at the back are called stabilises, (training wheels) they'll balance the bike to make sure you don't fall off.

Rainbow: ok mummy, when can they be taken off?

Windy whistles: whenever you feel you're ready for it baby. Now are you ready to give it a go?

Rainbow: *excitedly* yes mummy!

Windy whistles: let's go then!

Rainbow and windy went outside to the front path so that rainbow could practice her bike riding. This is the first bike rainbow had ever had, not including the tricycle she's had as a toddler.

Windy whistles: I'm going to hold on to the back sweetheart while you pedal so it keeps the bike balanced, ok?

Rainbow: ok mummy.

Rainbow started riding down the path and eventually windy let go. The bike was still stabilised because of the training wheels, so rainbow decided she wanted to try without.

Rainbow: mummy can you take the little wheels off?

Windy whistles: are you sure ready for that dashie?

Rainbow: yes mummy!

Windy whistles: ok then.

Windy took the training wheels off of the bike and rainbow was off again. No sooner after she started to ride away she lost control and balance, this caused the bike to tip over. As it tipped rainbow fell off with it, windy saw this and ran over to rainbow who was sat on the floor crying.

Windy whistles: dashie! Are you ok?!

Rainbow: *sniffles and shakes head*

Windy whistles: where does it hurt sweetie?

Rainbow pointed to her knee where there was a small graze. It wasn't anything serious and nothing some antiseptic cream and plaster wouldn't fix. Windy picked rainbow up and carried her back into the house, rainbows crying had now stopped.

Rainbow: I'm sorry mummy.

Windy whistles: what for baby? Everyone falls off of their bike at some point.

Rainbow: they do?

Windy whistles: sure they do! Now this might sting a little bit, but it's better than the cut becoming infected. Just squeeze my hand if it hurts too much ok?

Rainbow: ok.  

Windy applied the cream and plaster to the cut on rainbows knee. Once she was done treating her injury she lifted rainbow off the counter.

Windy whistles: there you go. Now you go can go and play.

Rainbow: ok bye mummy!

Windy whistles: bye dashie!

After a few more time falling over rainbow was finally able to ride her bike.
