Christmas Morning (age 3)

A/N this is a sequel to the previous story:" the night before Christmas"

After a long night of rainbow constantly throwing up it was finally morning, which meant it was Christmas!

Bow hothoof: *to windy* morning honey, merry Christmas!

Windy whistles: merry Christmas dear!

Bow hothoof: *looks at rainbow* do you think she's feeling any better?

Windy whistles: *feels rainbows forehead* mmmm I don't think so, I think it's just going to be a quiet Christmas this year. We'll have to try and make it fun for scootaloo's sake though, hopefully dashie will feel better later.

Bow nodded in agreement. Just then scootaloo came rushing into the room excitedly shouting that it was Christmas.

Scootaloo: mummy daddy, it Christmas!

Windy whistles: shhh we know it is sweetie, but please try to be quiet dashie's still sleeping.

Scootaloo: *confused* why she sleeping? It Christmas. Should be wake.

Windy whistles: *chuckles* I know baby but she's not very well so she might just want to relax and sleep for today.

Scootaloo: *sadly* icky?

Windy whistles: yeah a little bit sweetie but don't worry today will still be fun. Do you feel alright?

Scootaloo: yeah mummy!

Rainbow was starting to wake up. As soon as she did she started crying, this got the attention of her parents.

Rainbow: *crying* mummy!

Windy whistles: shhhh baby I'm here, it's ok mummies got you.

She kept rocking rainbow while she sobbed. Windy could tell that rainbow still had a temperature and she didn't want to move her too much in case she needed to throw up again.

Windy whistles: I think someone needs their nappy changing. Bow if i sort dashie out can you do scoots? Then we'll all go down open some presents and just have a chilled family day.

Bow hothoof: of course!

Once both of the girls were changed they went downstairs and sat on the sofa. Scootaloo was really eager to start opening presents but all rainbow wanted was a cuddle and sleep. She still had her blankie in her arms and her dummy in her mouth. Her parents were trying to ween her off of the dummy, but because she was sick they decided to let her keep it.

Windy whistles: right I think it's present time! Who wants to go first?

Scootaloo: *points to rainbow*

Windy whistles: you going to let dashie go first honey?

Scootaloo: *nods*

Windy whistles: *strokes scootaloo's hair* well that's very kind of you sweetie. Dashie, scootaloo says you can go first to open a present.

Rainbow: *tiredly* ok.

Rainbow opened one of the presents which just happened to be a really soft blanket. Not to replace her beloved blankie because she'd had that since the day she was born. But it was nice to have something else soft to cuddle especially on days like today when she wasn't feeling well. After rainbow opened the present she wasn't really interested in any of the others.

Rainbow: done mummy.

Windy whistles: you have more to open sweetie.

Rainbow: *getting upset* no don't want too!

Windy whistles: ok shhhh. You're really not very well are you?

Rainbow: *sadly* uh uh.

Windy whistles: ok well let's scootaloo finish opening her presents then we can watch films all day, does that sound good?

Rainbow: scootaloo won't open my presents will she mummy?

Windy whistles: *chuckles* no sweetie they'll still be here for when you're feeling better.

After scootaloo had finished opening her presents and after lunch the family all sat on the sofa with bow and windy's bedding to watch a film.

Bow hothoof: what film should we watch?

Windy whistles: nothing overly stimulating, the girls are getting ready for a nap I think.

It was true. Both girls did usually sleep around this time of day and windy had been trying to keep rainbow awake until nap time, but with a sick toddler that's not easy.

Bow hothoof: ok something nice and calm then?

Windy whistles: yeah that would be great.

So the family began to watch their Christmas movie (you choose the film) and after about 5 minutes both of the kids were fast asleep.

Windy whistles: well I know this isn't quite the Christmas we were expecting.

Bow hothoof: *chuckles* as long as i have my 3 favourite girls, that's all that matters to me.

Windy whistles: awww me too.

So it may not have been the day they were expecting, but for this family it felt just right. Happy Christmas to all, and to all a good night!
