The Test (age 6)

Today rainbows class had to their English SATS (an exam thing in the uk) rainbow was usually not too bad with English has a subject but she really struggled when it came to exams, she would panic so much in the lead up that she would be physically sick.

*time skip to test*

Mrs walkingam: right year 2! (I don't know what that is in American schooling) you have an hour and a half to do this exam so i suggested half an hour for reading and then an hour to answer the questions, and please read it carefully. You may start.

It had been almost an hour and rainbow had hardly done any of the test, she was just crying and shaking hoping it would soon be over.

*time skip*

Finally the test was over, but rainbow hadn't answered any of the questions in detail and was now terrified that she was going to get in trouble. The teacher was coming round collecting the papers and when she got to rainbow who was still sobbing, she looked at her in disgust.

Mrs walkingam: this really isn't good enough rainbow dash.

Rainbow: *crying* s-sorry.

Mrs walkingam: *in a belittling tone of voice*that's not good enough, everyone else has done better than you.

This made rainbow feel awful and she was really upset for the rest of the day.

A/N: this is actually based on a true story. Everything that happens to rainbow in this story happened to me when I was 6. The teachers name in this is based on the name of the teacher I had. English is my stronger subject out of that and maths, but I really struggle under pressure. I don't remember exactly what was said as I was really young and in such a state, however in the story when she's told everyone else has done better than her that is EXACTLY what my teacher said to me.  Maths is worse for me and by the time I was 10 the doctor had told me I couldn't do the maths test because they made me so ill. This incident was almost 16 years ago, but it still haunts me to this day. 😢
