Head Crack (age 3)

Rainbow was at nursery playing a small game of football with some of the other children, pinkie had kicked the ball and it had gone under a bench.

Mr Storm: rainbow can you get the ball from under the bench?

Rainbow: *happily* yes mr storm!

Mr storm was the PE teacher for the older children but at lunch times he always had a bit of a kick about, with the nursery children. He's asked rainbow to get the ball from the under the bench, because she was the closest to it.

Rainbow: *ducks her head underneath the bench* I've got it!

However as she was moving out from the under the bench, she didn't get all the way out before lifting her head up. She smacked her head just above her eyebrow and she immediately started holding it and crying.

Rainbow: *screams* OW!

Mr storm rushed over the young girl who was now laid on the floor, and sobbing. He didn't bother to ask what was wrong he just picked her up and carried her to the nurse.

*the nurses office*

Mr storm carried rainbow inside and took her straight to the nurse.

Nurse red heart: *concerned and in shock* what's happened?!

Mr storm: she hit her head on the bench.

Nurse red heart: ok. *softly* rainbow sweetie can I have a look?

Rainbow sobbed as she removed her head from mr storms shoulder, when they saw her head it was no wonder she was crying so hard. There was blood pouring down rainbows face from a very nasty cut, it was obvious it was going to either need stitches or glueing.

Rainbow: *sobs* h-hurts!

Nurse red heart: shhh I know it does sweetie, I'm gonna to have to call mummy ok?

She called windy and wrapped some ice in a towel and pressed against rainbows head, to try and stop the bleeding. It was all she really could do.

*windy arrives*

Windy soon arrived at the school and was shocked at the state her daughter was in. She immediately made her way to rainbow and placed her on her knee, and started rocking her.

Rainbow: *hiccups* mummy!

Windy whistles: *rocks rainbow gently* shhhhh baby I know it's hurting that's why we've got, to go to the hospital.

Rainbow: *cries harder* NO! You kiss it better!

Windy whistles: *guiltily* I'm afraid I can't baby, it needs something else to fix it.

Rainbow continued to sob as windy held onto her rocking her slightly, she was hoping rainbow would fall asleep but with the pain her daughter was in, that was very unlikely to happen.

*at the hospital*

Doctor Johnson: ok so I think it might be best if we use glue instead of stitches.

Windy whistles: *nods*

Rainbow was not happy about this. She didn't want the stuff that was used to make pictures on her face. After the doctor explained that it was a special kind of glue, she let him fix her up.

*at home*

When they got home rainbow was struggling to keep her eyes open, windy sat on the sofa stroking rainbows back as she played with her hair.

Windy whistles: *kisses rainbows forehead* go to sleep baby you need it.

Within a few minutes rainbow was fast asleep in her mother's arms.
