Rainbow woke up and she was not feeling good. Her nose was running and her whole face was aching. she had school today so she had to be up early anyway, but she just wanted to back to bed.

Rainbow: *goes into the kitchen coughing* m-mummy?

Windy whistles: yes sweet... *gasps* oh baby you don't look good are you ok?

Rainbow: *whimpers* n-no.

Windy whistles: *hugs rainbow and rubs her back* shh it's alright, can you tell me what's wrong?

Rainbow: *hiccuping* m-my h-head hurts! A-and m-my n-nose I-is r-runny

Windy whistles: *continues to rub rainbows back too try and settle her* ok sweetheart, is it ok if I feel your head?

Rainbow: *nods*

Windy whistles: *puts her hand to rainbows forehead* well you certainly feel very hot sweetie, I'm going to take your temperature and then I'm going to ring the school and tell them your not coming in ok?

Rainbow: *quietly* ok.

Windy whistles: good girl is anything else hurting?

Rainbow: my face is aching all over mummy.

Windy whistles: ok baby, I'll call the school and then I think we're going to have to go the doctors.

Rainbow: *starts to get scared* n-no d-doctor!

Windy whistles: shhhh you'll be alright, I'll be right back.

She kissed rainbows warm forehead and then left to make the phone calls. After she came back into the living room and saw that rainbow was almost asleep on the sofa. She would have left her there but the doctors appointment was in an hour and they still needed to get dressed.

Windy whistles: *runs her fingers through rainbows hair* do you want some breakfast dashie?

Rainbow: *shakes her head*

Windy whistles: ok, but you need to have a drink and then we need to get ready to go.

Rainbow: *whimpers* ok.

Once they we're both ready they got into windy's car and headed to the health centre.

*at the health centre*

Doctor Johnson: ok so seems to be the problem today then?

Windy explained rainbows symptoms to the doctor and then he left to get something.

Rainbow: where's he gone mummy?

Windy whistles: I'm not sure sweetie.

Doctor Johnson returned with a endoscope. (it's one of those nasal tester things) this caused windy to become nervous, rainbow had never had to have a nasal test before but she had and they were not the most comfortable nor pleasant of things.

Doctor Johnson: ok so from looking at the symptoms you've told me I'm pretty sure rainbow has a sinus infection, but I'm going to need to do a nasal test to know for sure.

Windy whistles: yeah that's fine.

Doctor Johnson: ok I'll get it ready.

Rainbow: *getting anxious* what's he doing mummy?

Windy whistles: he's got to put something up your nose baby to see what's wrong.

Rainbow: will it hurt?

Windy didn't know what to say, it did hurt a little bit, but if she told rainbow that she won't have it done. However she also didn't want to lie to her.

Windy whistles: it's not very nice baby, why don't you hold mummy's hand and close your eyes while he does it.

Rainbow: *getting scared* o-ok.

Doctor Johnson: ok so are we ready?

Rainbow: *reluctantly nods her head*

Doctor Johnson: ok, I'll insert the tester now.

He inserted the nasal test up into rainbows nose and she started to become really upset by it. It was only quick but it felt really uncomfortable, she was tired and was feeling horrible and she just wanted to go home.

Doctor Johnson: *softly* there we go all done, we just need to wait a few moments for the results. I'll leave you two alone for a minute.

Windy whistles: thank you doctor.

He left and rainbow was now sobbing into windy's chest, she didn't like crying like a baby like this, but she felt really poorly so she didn't care.

Windy whistles: *rocks rainbow gently* shhh sweetie it's alright we'll go home soon.

Doctor Johnson came back with the results and rainbow had fallen asleep in windy's arms. He said that rainbow did have a sinus infection, and that the best treatment would be plenty of rest and fluids. Also gave her a prescription for some child safe liquid pain relief. Windy thanked him and then headed home.

*back home*

By the time they got home rainbow was almost still asleep, but she had started to stir in the car. It was just as well really cause she needed to have some medicine. Windy took rainbow upstairs and gave her a bath and then after putting her into some pyjamas, she took her back downstairs and placed her on the sofa and covered her with a blanket. Rainbow was almost asleep when windy woke her to take some medicine.

Windy whistles: don't fall asleep yet baby, I need you to have some medicine first.

Rainbow: *tired* ok.

She took the medicine, but it was gross so she had a drink of the juice that had been put next to her. After having the medicine Windy sat next to rainbow and allowed her baby girl to snuggle up next to her. She gently ran her fingers through rainbows hair as she fell asleep. After kissing rainbows forehead windy decided to have a sleep herself, it had been a tiring day for them both.
