*flash back age 3*

Rainbow and aj were the best of friends they'd met at nursery and they did everything together. Applejack lived on a farm which was near a meadow, this gave the girls lots places explore and play. The 2 girls were sat in the meadow amongst some daisies, this was one of their favourite things to do just sit and chat.

Rainbow: aj do you think we'll always be friends?

Aj: I don't see why not dashie.

Pear Butter: *shouts* girls! Can you come here please?!

Aj: *takes rainbows hand* come on my mummy's calling for us.

They headed back to the farm house, where both of the girls parents were sat their waiting for them. Rainbow went over to windy and sat on her knee.

Windy whistles: *plays with rainbows hair* did you girls have fun today?

Rainbow: *yawns* yeah mummy but I'm tired.

Windy whistles: *chuckles and stands up with rainbow still in her arms* come on let's go home and get you in bed.

Bow hothoof: are you going to be telling aj?

Bright Mac: *sighs* she's not going to like it but we'll be ok.

Bow hothoof: ok we'll see you tomorrow.

*the next morning*

Windy whistles: I don't know how we're going to tell rainbow this.

Bow hothoof: *rubs windy's shoulder* its going to be hard honey, but we have to do it.

Windy whistles: *sighs* rainbow can you come here please?

Rainbow: yeah mummy?

Windy whistles: so me and daddy have got something to tell you, promise me you won't be too upset.

Rainbow: *nervously* what is it mummy?

Windy whistles: daddy has got a new job so we're going to be moving away.

Rainbow: where to?

Bow hothoof: cloudsdale dashie it's a lovely small city about 5 hours away.

Rainbow: *sadly* does this mean I won't be able to see aj and play in the meadow anymore?

Windy whistles: *bites her lip* I'm afraid so baby, but you'll still be able to stay in touch.

Rainbow: *starts crying* it's not fair!

Windy whistles: *rocks rainbow gently* shhh I know but daddy needs this job ok? We're going to go to the farm today so you and applejack can say goodbye, we're leaving tomorrow.

*at the farm*

Pear butter and bright Mac had told applejack about rainbow moving away and like rainbow she was really upset.

Bright Mac: aj why don't you and rainbow go down to the daisy field for a while?

Aj: *sighing* ok.

*at the meadow*

The girls were silently playing with the daisies neither of them saying anything.

Aj: *eventually speaking* my mummy says we can still stay in touch.

Rainbow: *tearing up* that's what mine said. But it w-won't be the s-same.

Aj: *holds rainbows hand* I know.

She suddenly got an idea she grabbed some daisies and quickly made them into a bracelet, her mother had shown her how.

Aj: *hands rainbow the daisy chain* here.

Rainbow: *confused* what is it?

Aj: it's a daisy bracelet to show that we'll always be friends no matter the distance between us.

Rainbow: *sniffles and hugs aj* thank you! But I don't know how to make you one.

Aj: *chuckles* I'll show you come on.

The sat making another daisy chain and after rainbow has given it to applejack, it was time to go back to the farm*

*saying goodbye*

Pear butter: *hugs Windy* promise you'll call as soon as you get their?

Windy whistles: we promise.

Bright Mac: *shakes bows hand* good luck at the new job.

Bow hothoof: thank you. And good luck with the farm.

Rainbow and applejack were hugging and saying their goodbyes.

Windy whistles: *gently* rainbow we really too get going sweetie.

Rainbow: *sniffles and let's go of applejack* ok.

Aj: remember rainbow as long as we have the bracelets we'll always be connected.

They hugged one last time and then rainbow and her family left, ready to start a new life somewhere else.

*8 years later*

Rainbow had settled really well at cloudsdale she'd made some new friends, they were great but she still really missed applejack. She was reading one of the recent letters that applejack had sent to her, staying in touch had become much easier once they could read and write. What rainbow didn't know was her parents had a surprise for her. Rainbow was due to start high school the next month, and all the ones in cloudsdale were full. Bow had also gotten himself a new job and they'd found rainbow a different school, but they weren't tell rainbow where.

Rainbow: *shocked* were moving again?!

Bow hothoof: yes rainbow you need to to go high school and I've got a new job.

Rainbow: *scoffs annoyingly* oh great that means I've got to get settled in a whole new place again! Where are you dragging me to this time?

Windy whistles: *chuckles* were not telling you that dashie but trust us you'll like it.

Rainbow doubted that very much but decided to take her mother's word for it. A few days later they were moving away again to a new home, well new as in new house the town however was very familiar.

*in canterlot*

Aj: *whining* but mum I'm not really in the mood to go out.

Pear butter: *sighs* aj come on me and your father would like to go for a walk.

Aj: why aren't you making Big Mac come with us?

Pear butter: because he has homework to do, now get your shoes and then help applebloom with hers please.

Aj: *sighs* fine.

Pear butter or butter cup as she was often called by friends, stood their watching and giggling the real plan was they were going to meet up with bow and Windy, but like rainbow applejack had not been told this.

*the reunion*

Windy and bow were sat a table near a cafe, watching their daughters have a kick about. They'd had another little girl Scootaloo shortly after moving away. They sat and watched for a few moments until they saw a car pull up.

Windy whistles: it's time. Girls come on were just going to the field over there.

There was a small daisy field near by and all the adults agreed that this was the best place, to reunite the girls.

Rainbow: *annoyed* you know I think flowers are gross.

Aj: *comes up behind and rainbow and jokes* well that's just rude.

Rainbow turns around and can't quite believe what she was seeing.

Rainbow: *not believing it* applejack?

Aj: *opens her arms for a hug* yeah rainbow it's me.

Rainbow stood there for a few seconds not knowing what to do. Eventually she jumped into applejacks arms and hugged her tightly as she sobbed.

Rainbow: *sobs and hiccups* I-I've missed you!

Aj: *rubs rainbows back* shhh I've missed you too.

The adults left them as they wanted to catch up and introduce each other to their younger children. They headed back to the farm and the girls went straight to the daisy field.

*the meadow*

Rainbow: I've missed this place.

Aj: me too I haven't been here since you left.

Rainbow: *worried* what? Why?

Aj: *smiles feeling a little embarrassed* because I didn't have you with me.

Rainbow: what about your new friends? You know the 5 girls you told me about in the letters, have you never bought them here?

Aj: *takes rainbows hand* their great friends dashie, but this is our special place and I couldn't bear to share it with anyone except you.

Rainbow: *gags jokingly* wow that is really cheesy. Ooh do you still have the bracelet?

Aj: *reaches into her back pocket* I sure do.

Rainbow: *looks at the bracelet with amazement* wow I can't believe that these actually used to fit us, or that you kept it.

Aj: I promised I would didn't I? What about you do you still have yours?

Rainbow: *excitedly* of course!

She showed applejack the bracelet and then they were called back by their parents.

*at the farm*

Bright Mac: did you two have fun?

Aj: yeah dad we did.

Bow hothoof: well come on rainbow we need to go.

Rainbow: *tears up* you're going to make us say goodbye again? I know that I need to go high school and you've got a new job, but you still haven't told me where we're moving too.

Windy whistles: *chuckles* don't you get it rainbow? We didn't tell you where we moving too because we wanted it to be a surprise, we're moving back to canterlot.

Rainbow: *in disbelief* wait does that mean...

Pear butter: ...yep you and aj are going to the same high school!

Rainbow and applejack both couldn't believe this after 8 years apart they were finally going to be together again.

*a month later*

Rainbow and applejack had started a new year at canterlot high school, rainbow had met aj's 5 friends and they soon became her friends as well. However applejack was still her best friend and every weekend they made sure to have time on their own in the daisy field. finally they were reunited.
