A little Accident (age 3)

It was a really sunny day so rainbow and her parents were going for a picnic at nearby park. The park was an hour away in the car, but it was a really nice area for a picnic and the perfect place for their toddler to run around. Speaking of rainbow she was still being toilet trained and didn't always know she needed to go until it was too late.

Windy whistles: is the car packed?

Bow hothoof: yep, we've got the picnic basket, the blanket and rainbows buggy for when we go for a walk. Are we all ready to go?

Windy whistles: I think so I'm just going to see if dashie needs the toilet before we leave.

Bow hothoof: alright.

Windy went into the living room to find rainbow playing with toy cars and blocks.

Windy whistles: *kneels down to rainbow* dashie come on it's to go.

Rainbow looked up at her with confusion in her eyes.

Windy whistles: *chuckles* we're going for a picnic today remember?

Rainbows eyes lit up with excitement once she remembered what windy was talking about.

Windy whistles: *sighs in relief* oh good you remember, listen baby it's a long ride so do you need to go to the toilet before we leave?

Rainbow: *shakes her head* no mummy.

Windy whistles: are you sure sweetie? I don't know if there's any toilets on the way.

Rainbow: I'm sure mummy.

Windy whistles: ok then let's go.

*half an hour into the car trip*

Rainbow was really starting to need the toilet now, she didn't want to tell her parents cause she thought they would be angry with her, but she didn't have a nappy on cause they were trying to only use them at night time. As time went on rainbow was becoming more and desperate therefore she was becoming even more uncomfortable. She started to fidget in her seat and cross her legs and this didn't go unnoticed by her parents.

Bow hothoof: are you ok dashie?

Rainbow: *whimpering* y-yeah.

Windy whistles: *concerned* are you sure baby?

At that moment rainbow started crying but still tried to keep from wetting herself.

Bow hothoof: oh dear what's happened?

Windy whistles: I think I know, dashie do you need the toilet?

Rainbow: *cries and nods*

Windy whistles: ok can you hold on until we get there? We've got about 10 minutes to go.

She knew it was a silly question there was no way rainbow was going to last another 10 minutes, she was struggling enough to hold it as it was.

Rainbow: *sobs* n-no!

Windy whistles: that's fine darling if you need to go you can, mummy and daddy won't be angry if you have a little accident.

Rainbow kept sobbing and refusing to let it go, she was so embarrassed.

Bow hothoof: sweetie don't make you self ill by holding it in, if you need to go then go.

And once that was said rainbow couldn't hold it in any longer, she wet herself through her underwear and trousers, down her legs and onto the car seats. Even though now she felt more comfortable she continued crying because she thought her parents were angry at her.

*at the picnic area*

Windy whistles: can you go and get set up whilst i sort dashie out?

Bow hothoof: yes of course.

Windy picking rainbow up out of her car seat and took the crying toddler to women's toilet so she could get her changed, she'd bought spare underwear and trousers in case something like this happened.

Windy whistles: *wipes the tears from rainbows face* sweetie it's ok accidents happen.

Rainbow: *hiccuping* b-but m-mummy a-angry.

Windy whistles: hey shh I'm not angry, you're still learning to recognise when you need to use the toilet, but in the future why don't we go before we leave the house?

Rainbow: *wiping her eyes* o-ok mummy.

Windy whistles: good girl.

She finished changing rainbow and after kissing her on the forehead they headed out of the changing area.

*end of the day*

Windy whistles: well it looks like it's time to go, do you need the toilet before we leave dashie?

Rainbow: *nods* yes mummy!

Windy whistles: good girl come on then.

She took rainbow to the toilet and then they we're in there way home. Rainbow now understood that whenever they we're going for a long car ride, too go to the toilet before they leave in order to avoid any little accidents.
