Headlice (age 9)

Warning: this story may cause itchy head.

There had been an infestation of head lice at rainbows school and all the kids were having to be checked by the school nurse, who was giving them a chat and giving them leaflets about how to get rid of them if they got them.

Nit nurse: ok kids so you'll all be given a bag with a leaflet and comb, ask your parents to look through the book and give your hair a comb when you have a bath next.

*after school*

Windy whistles: hey dashie, how was school?

Rainbow: it was good mum. The school nurse gave us a chat about head lice. She gave us this leaflet and comb, and asked us to get our parents to check our hair after a bath.

Windy whistles: *as a look at bag* ok sweetie, well it's bath night tonight so I'll check your hair for you if you like.

Rainbow: yeah thanks mum.

After having dinner rainbow went for her bath and washed her hair. Once she'd done this windy combed her hair with the comb provided. As she was combing she did find a couple of nits, but they could be easily gotten rid of with treatment.

Rainbow: are there any mum?

Windy whistles: there are a couple sweetie, but we can get rid of them don't worry. Is your head itching?

Rainbow: no it's fine. How do we get rid of them?

Windy whistles: there's a bottle of treatment in the bag we'll just put the treatment on, and it will kill the lice. You will have to wash your hair again though.

Rainbow: that's fine.

After applying the treatment and re-washing her hair, windy re-combed rainbows hair and was able to get rid the of the little pests.

Rainbow: are they gone mum?

Windy whistles: yes baby there gone. Why don't you head on up to bed?

Rainbow: ok, night mum.

Windy whistles: night sweetie.

After this day windy made sure to check both her daughters and her own hair for any kind of pests.
