The Storm (age 2)

Weather man: and storm will last through the night and will consist of heavy wind and rain, as well as a lot of thunder.

Bow hothoof: oh dear, how do you think dashie going to be tonight?

Windy whistles: fussy and scared is my guess. She's seen small storms but they we're during the day and not as big.

Bow hothoof: do you think we should let her sleep with us tonight?

Windy whistles: I think we'll put her to sleep in her own bed, and see how she goes.

Bow hothoof: *nods in agreement* yeah I think that a good idea.

*rainbows bedtime*

Windy had given rainbow a bath and had put her into a fresh nappy and pair of pyjamas. She was reading her a bedtime story whilst she had a warm bottle of milk to help her sleep. Once the story was over windy sore that rainbow was fast asleep, so she replaced the bottle with the dummy and kissed her forehead.

Windy whistles: *whispers* night night baby.

*later on that night*

The rain was coming down really heavy and it was pelting against the windows. The rain was blowing with some real force and the thunder was really loud. Rainbow had woken up when she heard a crack of thunder, she laid in her bed clutching her teddy and sucking softly on her dummy trying not to cry. However a bright flash of lightning flashed outside her bedroom window and that was enough to start the tears.

Rainbow: *sobbing* mummy! Daddy!

Bow hothoof: *waking up* I think the storm has woken someone up.

Windy whistles: yeah I'll go and get her.

She went into rainbows bedroom and saw the toddler sobbing and clutching her teddy tightly.

Windy whistles: *picks rainbow up and rocks her slightly* oh sweetie what's the matter?

Rainbow: *hiccuping* a-scary l-light!

Windy whistles: *sympathetically* aww did the lightning scare you baby?

Rainbow: *nods and whimpers*

Windy whistles: *rubs rainbows back* shhhhh, it's ok let's go into mine and daddy's room and you can sleep with us tonight.

She took rainbow into their bedroom and placed her onto the bed next to bow.

Bow hothoof: *gently running her fingers through rainbows hair* is someone joining us tonight?

Windy whistles: yeah the lightning scared her, I'm going to make her a bottle can you change her nappy?

Bow hothoof: yeah no problem.

He changed rainbows nappy whilst windy was getting the bottle ready. After they had finished they gave rainbow the bottle and gently rubbed her tummy has she softly suckled on the bottle, and drank the warm milk.

Bow hothoof: *looks at rainbow* I think she's asleep.

Windy whistles: yeah she is. *puts the dummy in rainbows mouth*

They all went to sleep and the storm was over by morning.
