Tonight was New Year's Eve and rainbows parents had agreed to let her stay up to watch the countdown, as long as rainbow had her bath and got ready for bed a little bit earlier. Windy was currently getting rainbow dressed into her pyjamas after a nice warm bath. Rainbows usual bedtime was in about half an hour from now and scootaloo had already gone to sleep, as it was too much for her to stay awake.

Windy whistles: now remember sweetie, it's going to a long night. If you start feeling tired then you can go to sleep, you don't have to stay awake if you can't.

Rainbow: I'm ok mummy I want to see the pretty colours in the sky. (The fireworks)

Windy whistles: ok baby.

Windy was a little apprehensive about letting rainbow see the fireworks, because she had never seen them before and she wasn't sure if they would scare her. Only time would tell.

*time skip to 10 minutes to midnight*

Rainbow had been able to stay awake (she'd had a sleep in the afternoon) but now she was starting to get tired and agitated, luckily it was only a few more seconds until the clock would strike 12. The countdown began.

The clock struck 12 and then the fireworks started. They were much louder than rainbow had anticipated and they scared her, so she hid her face in her dad neck.

Bow hothoof: baby what's the matter?

Rainbow: *crying* scary daddy!

Bow hothoof: there not scary, the pretty sweetie. Come on just have a look.

Rainbow: *now full on sobbing* n-no!

Bow hothoof: shhh shh ok. I think it's time for someone to go night nights.

Bow hothoof: *to windy* honey I'm just going to put dashie in bed.

Windy whistles: ok dear.

He took rainbow upstairs to her room. Once they got up there he put her in bed and pulled the cover the covers her. After a quick bedtime story and he kissed her goodnight and left the room, when he got to the door he turned and whispered...

Bow hothoof: happy new year dashie!
