Rainbow had been watching a lot of skateboarding videos on YouTube, so naturally she'd started to express an interest in the activity. Her 9th birthday was coming up and her parents had been wondering what to get for her, and now they knew.

Bow hothoof: I don't know about this windy, what if she falls off it?

Windy whistles: if she falls off then she falls off, we'll get her a helmet and pads and she'll be fine.

Bow hothoof: it's still a risk though.

Windy whistles: bow, it's a risk when she goes to the park with her friends, or when she goes to school and we don't see her for 7 hours a day.

Bow hothoof: *giving in but still not happy* ok.

*rainbows birthday*

Windy whistles: do you like your presents dashie?

Rainbow: *smiling* yes mum there great, thank you!

Windy whistles: you're welcome. There is one more over here though.

She hands the present to rainbow and the child's face lit up when she realised what it was.

Rainbow: *gasps* a skateboard really?!

Windy whistles: *chuckles* yes really.

Rainbow: *excited* thank you, thank you, thank you! I'm going to go and try it!

Bow hothoof: wait a second rainbow, you need to wear a helmet and pads and if you're going on that death trap.

Windy whistles: *deadpans her husband* seriously bow?

Bow hothoof: what? it can be dangerous.

Windy whistles: it's a skateboard not a motorbike.

Rainbow: *grabs the board and the safety equipment* don't worry dad, I'll be careful I promise.

*a few minutes later*

Rainbow had been playing with her skateboard for a while now and bow had been watching her the whole time. Suddenly there was a loud crash and a scream.

Bow hothoof: *rushing to the door in a panic* see I told you something would happen!

Windy whistles: I'm sure she's fine, let's go and see.

When they got out side they found rainbow sat the grass with tears in her eye. Her leg had a a graze and was bleeding though not badly, bow and windy took her inside so they could get the cut cleaned up. It wasn't a deep cut so the first aid box in the house did the trick.

Rainbow: thanks mum.

Windy whistles: your welcome sweetheart, just try and be more careful next time.

Rainbow: yeah if dad ever let's me back on it.

Windy whistles: he will don't worry. Go on off you go.

Rainbow: bye mum!

Bow was reluctant to allow rainbow to skateboard again, but he eventually let loose and she was soon skateboarding all the time.
