It was sports day at school and this just so happened to be rainbows favourite day at school. It was a day that she was allowed to be competitive as long as she wasn't aggressive with it.

Windy whistles: now remember what we talked about rainbow?

Rainbow: *smirking* do what ever you need to in order to win.

Windy whistles: *in a stern warning voice* rainbow dash.

Rainbow: *chuckles nervously* I'm joking mum. I know it doesn't matter if I win or lose, what's important is taking part and having fun.

Windy whistles: good girl. Go on then.

Rainbow: bye mum!

*at school*

Pinkie: *Excitedly* ooh I can't believe sports day is finally here!

Rainbow: I know right?! I'm totally going to win every event I take part in. Which is every event.

Rarity: now rainbow darling remember it's not about winning, it's about having fun and taking part.

Rainbow: *rolls her eyes* you sound like my mother.

Aj: well she's right, and besides I'm going to win.

Rainbow: *scoffs* in your dreams applejack.

Sunset: how about we don't worry about who's going to win and we just have ok?

Rainbow and aj: fine.

Twilight: come on let's go and sign up for the events we want too participate in.

The girls started making there way around the field deciding what games they would take part in that afternoon. Of course rainbow and applejack signed up for everything, fluttershy only signed up for the egg and spoon race, and that was only because they were rubber eggs. Twilight and sunset signed up for the more intellectual games such as chess. There weren't any games that suited rarity so she agreed to help pinkie make a massive banner, that would be used for cheering.

*at the 100 meter sprint*

Coach: ok kids the first one to the finish line wins. On your marks, get set, go!

They all started running down the track rainbow and aj were close to each other, but applejack ended up winning.

Rainbow: *out of breath* I'll win the next one.

Aj: *smiling* ok dashie.

*at the end of the day*

Rainbow and applejack had both won 3 events each and the final race would be the decider. The cross country race, which was 2 laps of the perimeter of the sports field. The both stepped to the starting line and waited the start whistle to blow.

*the whistle blows*

The girls were both running at their full speed, and made it through the first lap without a problem. However during the second lap rainbow began to get a stitch in her side, and she started to slow. But she realised the applejack was getting closer to the finish line and she forced herself to keep going. She was so close to the finish line but ended up collapsing just as she got to the finish line. Applejack was about to cross the line when she noticed that rainbow needed help.

Aj: *goes over to rainbow and helps her to stand* come on.

Rainbow: *wheezing in pain* W-what a-are you doing? You could win.

Aj: rainbow I'm not winning while you're hurt. Come on we'll cross the finish line together.

That's exactly what they did. They crossed the finish line together which meant it was a tie. They then went over to the tents where their friends were so rainbow could get a drink.

Pinkie: *excitedly* you both won!

Fluttershy: *concerned* are you ok rainbow?

Rainbow: yeah I'll be ok thanks to applejack.

Aj: don't think anything of it.

Twilight: so rainbow what have you learnt?

Rainbow: *smirks* that getting injured is the best way to make sure the competition doesn't win.

The girls gave her a stern look and she raised her hands in surrender.

Rainbow: *chuckles nervously* I'm kidding. I know that winning isn't the most impressive thing.

The girls all shared a laugh and then decided to go and get ice cream to celebrate.
