A/N: story takes place before rainbow comes out, but she will come out to someone.

Rainbow was walking through the school corridors and could here people talking about her.

Female student: *whispering* look at her hair I'm telling you she's gay.

Male student: *whispering* yeah i know, I bet she kisses girls in the bathroom during break.

Rainbow: *comes up behind them* ahem.

She had instantly recognised the students as high winds and fire streak, they were on the sports teams which rainbow was the captain of.

High winds: *trying to sound innocent* oh rainbow dash! Fire streak and I was just saying...

Rainbow: *cuts her off* ...I know what you were talking about, and it is none of your business, what my sexuality is and I don't do anything with anyone here at school. Got it?

High winds: got it.

*over the next few weeks*

High winds and fire streak were not happy about rainbow standing up to them and the rumours became worse, now the whole school was saying that rainbow was queer and some said that was a sin.

Lightning dust: *nastily* you do realise your friends won't want to be friends with you anymore?

Rainbow: my friends will accept me for who I am, no matter what. Just because Gilda only uses you.

Lightning dust: *eyes widen* so the rumours are true you are gay!

Rainbow realised what she had done, she'd given her self away to someone she definitely shouldn't have.

Lightning soon told her friends and they started harassing rainbow even worse than before. The blackmailed her several times, threatening to tell her friends her secret.

*a month later*

Fluttershy: has anyone noticed anything different about rainbow?

Rarity: she seems to have lost her sparkle.

Pinkie: she's been such a downer recently.

Sunset: maybe one of us should try and talk to her?

Aj: I'll do it.

Applejack went outside to look for rainbow she found her sat on one of the benches in, the school yard. Rainbow looked like she'd been crying the girls had heard the rumours that were going around, but they'd refused to listen or believe until rainbow either confirmed or denied them.

Aj: *sits next to rainbow and puts her arm around her* rainbow what's wrong?

Rainbow: *sniffles* I'm just fed up of all the rumours that are being spread about me.

Aj: *gently* rainbow look at me.

Rainbow: *looks at her*

Aj: I need you to know that it doesn't matter to me or the girls if the rumours are true, we love you for who you are and if you are gay then that's perfectly fine.

At that moment rainbow broke down in tears and started sobbing on ajs shoulder, she sobbed as applejack rubbed her back. After a few minutes she's stopped crying and faces applejack again.

Rainbow: *hiccuping* t-the r-rumours a-are t-true. I-I'm g-gay.

Aj: *pulls rainbow into her arms and rubs her back* shhhh it's ok it's ok.

Rainbow: I-I'm s-sorry!

Aj: *moves rainbow back to look at her* why are you sorry?

Rainbow: *sniffles* I was told that you and the girls wouldn't want to be friends with me anymore.

Aj: *stern but gentle* rainbow dash I have heard you say some pretty absurd things, but that is by far the most stupid. Of course me and the girls would still want to be your friends and to tell you the truth, I've sort of always known.

Rainbow: *rolls her eyes* let me guess because of my hair?

Aj: no you idiot because I see your demeanour when a boy makes any kind of contact with you vs when a girl does it.

Rainbow: *confused* what do you mean?

Aj: well when a boy tries to flirt with you, you seem grossed out, but a girl does it you seem more interested.

Rainbow: because I am. But wait if you knew I was gay why didn't you say anything to anyone? Even are friends.

Aj: because it's not my place to tell other people about your life. I came out as bisexual when I was ready and you would come out when you're ready.

Rainbow: *smiles* thanks applejack.

Aj: *holds rainbows hand* no problem sugar. Now a question I've been wanting to ask you for a while.

Rainbow: what's that?

Aj: would you go on a date with me?

Rainbow: *smiling* yes I would love to.

Applejack put her arm around rainbows arms as the younger laid her head on her shoulder.  The next day at school rainbow came out to her friends and like applejacks had promised, they were very accepting and got extremely excited about her and ajs date. The blackmails were suspended and the rumours were put to bed, rainbow was much more comfortable. After all they were no longer rumours.
