Teething (age 9 months)

Bow was attempting to give rainbow her lunch, but she'd been extremely fussy for the last couple of days and her parents didn't know why. Bow had been unable to succeed in feeding her the main part of the meal, so he decided to try and give her the pudding instead which was just a small bowl of custard. However she was also refusing to eat that at kept pushing the spoon away whenever he tried to give it to her.

Bow hothoof: rainbow come on sweetie, you need to eat something.

Rainbow: *shakes her head*

Bow hothoof: *pleadingly* come please for daddy?

Rainbow then started to sob and Windy came over them and picked her up out of her high chair.

Windy whistles: *rubbing rainbows back whilst she sways from side to side* what's the matter darling?

Bow hothoof: *sighing* she won't eat anything.

Windy whistles: *feels rainbows forehead* she feels a little bit warm, I think I'll get her bottle made up and try and get her settled for a nap.

Bow hothoof: ok honey.

Windy made rainbows bottle and then sat on the and held rainbow in her arms and started to give her the bottle. However instead of drinking the milk all she did was chew on the teat, when windy saw this it confused her so she removed the bottle away from rainbows mouth. This caused the infant to start crying to windy gently rocked her to get her to stop.

Windy whistles: shhh baby, mummy's just going to have a look in your mouth.

She looked in her mouth and saw that a tooth was starting to break through the skin on the right side.

Windy whistles: *to herself* yeah I thought so. Let's go and get something to help.

They went into the kitchen and windy went into the cupboard to get something.

Bow hothoof: everything alright?

Windy whistles: dashie's teething that's why she's been so fussy, I'm looking for those teething rings we bought when she was born. *finds them* ah ha here it is!

She gave rainbow the toy and then carried her back to the sofa, where she sat and laid rainbow on her chest on strokes her back. Rainbow was chewing on the teether whilst windy was rubbing her back. Her eyes were beginning to droop so windy gently rocked her as she fell asleep. The hurting in her mouth finally soothed.
