Chapter Sixty-Two
๐ŸŽญ Parasomnia ๐ŸŽญ

"I know his family left town around the time Theo was nine or ten... his older sister died in an accident when he was eight." Stiles said as he, Sawyer and Anakin followed Stilinski into his office. "Please, go to school." Stilinski said, "Dad, this kid's a Werewolf!" Sawyer said and their father squinted at them.

"Your best friend is a Werewolf! Stiles is dating a Werecoyote. Sawyer is dating a Banshee and is a Clairvoyant. I still don't know what Kira's supposed to be. When the flying monkeys come soaring through this station, you will have my undivided attention. Until then? Just go to school." Stilinski said and the twins ignored just squinted at their father.

"What did you do?" They both asked, making Stilinski look at them confused, "What? What do you mean, What did I do?" Stilinski asked. "There's something different about you..." Stiles said, looking him over, "What are you talking about?" Stilinski asked and Stiles stepped closer to him.

"What is it? What's different?" Sawyer asked and Stilinski sighed frustratingly, "For the love of God, guys, just go to school!" He said, pushing the twins away. "We'll go if you promise to do a full background check of the Raekens." Stiles said and Stilinski squinted at him.

"No. You know what? Just because I'm the only law enforcement officer who knows anything about this does not make it my responsibility to do something every time you have a minor suspicion!" Stilinski said making realization cross over Sawyer features.

"Except you're not the only one." Sawyer said, pointing at Parrish through the window making Stilinski sigh. "Parrish!" Stilinski yelled, making Parrish look up from all the paperwork he was stuck doing.

๐ŸŽญ

"So, you ran a background check, and all you found was a speeding ticket?" Malia asked as she, Stiles, Sawyer and Anakin walked up the stairs. "A speeding ticket signed by Theo's dad eight years ago." Stiles said and Malia nodded slowly, "Which means what?"

"Who speeds? People trying to get away from something!" Stiles said as he stopped and turned to them making Sawyer and Malia look at each other with furrowed brows. "Well, how many tickets do you have?" Malia asked and Stiles scoffed, "None." He said, making Sawyer nod slightly. "Right, uh- how many would you have if dad didn't get you out of them?" She asked making him purse his lips.

"Seventeen..." He said, making her hum slightly, "I thought it would be more." She said and he shot her a look. "I don't know, Stiles... I mean, I see why you're worried- he's really hot. He's got like great hair, perfect body... You should definitely feel threatened." Malia said and Stiles have her a look and nodded. "Thank you... Because I do... Now more than ever." He said dramatically and Sawyer chuckled.

"You want me to torture him?" Malia asked and Stiles shook his head, "No, I don't want you to torture him!" He said. "I'm pretty sure I can take him." Malia said and Sawyer chuckled, "I have a plan, all right? There are steps to doing this right." Stiles said making Sawyer raise her eyebrows.

"What steps and why am I just now finding out about them?" She asked, "We get the story, verify the facts. You find the piece that doesn't fit. and... And catch him in the act. That's how you do it." Stiles explained, then sighed when someone caught his eye.

Sawyer and Malia turned around to see Theo closing a car door before turning around. When he noticed them looking he smiled and awkwardly waved, "Why are you so suspicious of this guy?" Malia asked and Stiles sighed.

"Because I remember Theo from fourth grade, okay? That's not Theo." He said.

Sawyer and Anakin walked into AP Biology but slowed to a stop when she noticed Scott sitting down next to Kira. She looked over at Lydia and Kira who were giving each other silent looks while nodding to Scott, both of them trying to get each other to say something.

Sawyer furrowed her brows before walking up to Scott and snapping her fingers, making him look up. "Are you in the right class?" She asked, making Scott look at her wide eyed, "AP Biology?" He asked and she raised her eyebrows.

"You know what AP stands for?" She asked and he looked at her in amusement, "Advanced Placement." He said before opening his text book to show a bunch of highlighted sentences and sticky notes making Sawyer hum and raise her eyebrows before squinting at him slightly.

"Who are you and what did you do with my best friend?" She asked making him give her a look, "Seriously?" He asked and she raised her hands up in defense. "What? For as long as I've known you, you've never really been academically successful enough for an AP class. Proud of you though." She said. He chuckled and shook his head as she and Anakin went to sit down next to Lydia as the teacher walked in.

"Welcome to AP Biology! Let's see who's awake. Can somebody tell me what plasmids are?" Ms. Finch asked as she leaned against her desk, "Circular, self-replicating DNA molecules often used in cloning proteins." Lydia said and Ms. Finch nodded.

"Nicely stated, Lydia. Now, can you tell me what vitamin is absorbed in the stomach via parietal cell production of a glycoprotein?" Ms. Finch asked and Lydia went to answer but stopped when she realized she didn't know it. "Sawyer?" Ms. Finch asked and Sawyer looked at her slightly alarmed as she pursed her lips. "Uh- B12?" She asked and Ms. Finch smiled and nodded "Yes, thank you Sawyer." She said before looking over at Scott.

"You knew the answer?" Lydia whispered as she leaned over to Sawyer who smiled, "Her thoughts aren't blocked." She whispered, making Lydia chuckle quietly and shake her head.

"Mr. McCall, did you know the answer?" Ms. Finch asked, catching Scott off guard for a moment as he looked up at her. "Um, no." He said and she nodded, "It's a common test question. What's your number one college pick?" She asked.

"Umm..."

"Stop saying "um...""

"Sorry. UC-Davis." Scott said, making the girls all look at him impressed, "Good choice. It's the best school on the West Coast for biological and physical sciences. You're in the right class if that's what you're hoping for. Who else thinks they're in the right class?" Ms. Finch asked.

The first person to raise their hand was Theo making Sawyer look at him warily before raising her hand along with everyone else. "Good! Then you should all be prepared for the test tomorrow." Ms. Finch said, making a bunch of students groan.

"Don't be so disappointed! This test is specifically to help you determine whether you should actually be in AP Biology. You have two weeks to drop. Tomorrow's test will just weed out the ones who shouldn't be there... And that could be any of you."

"I was skating in a neighbor's empty pool, trying to do a handplant. Nobody was home. I'm not that good of a skateboarder, but I guess I was feeling pretty determined, because I completely lost track of time. I didn't even realize that it was night until the yard lights came on. Like I said, I wasn't very good. On my last try, I went down and hit hard- really hard. I was sitting there at the bottom of the pool, and I realized something... I never heard the board come back down. It came at me fast. I barely had a chance to turn around before it bit me, right here." Theo explained as they stood around in the locker room.

Stiles and Sawyer stood next to each other with their arms crossed as they leaned against the lockers with Anakin sitting in front of them while Scott stood in front of Theo. "It wasn't an accident- he wanted to turn you." Scott said, "Right. So, why aren't you part of his pack, then? Why didn't he come back for you?" Stiles asked making Theo look over at him.

"Because by the time of my first full moon, he was dead." He said and Sawyer raised her eyebrows, "How do you know that?" She asked. "I met another one of his pack a couple weeks later. He told me the Alpha that bit me was killed by two of his own Betas. They were twins." He said, making Sawyer squint at him slightly.

"Scott, listen to my pulse- I'm telling the truth." Theo said and Stiles pushed off the lockers and walked over, "Right, or you just know how to steady your heart rate while you're lying your ass off." Stiles said, making Theo look at him confused. "Why would I lie?" Theo asked and Stiles shrugged, "Because maybe, you're not who you say you are."

"Okay. In the fourth grade, you had an inhaler. I had one, too. I remember this day where I ended up in the nurse's office with an asthma attack- a bad one. I was waiting to be taken to the ER. You were waiting for the principal. You told me what would happen when you go to the ER for asthma. How they give you oxygen, an IV of prednisone. You made it sound easy, like everything would be okay. I've been by myself this whole time. Everybody knows that lone wolves, they don't make it on their own. I swear, I'm that same kid from fourth grade. I was hoping you are, too." Theo said, looking at Scott.

Before anyone could say anything the bell rang, "I better not be late for class- you're not the only ones I need to make a good impression on." Theo said, making Scott chuckle while Sawyer and Stiles just squinted at him as he grabbed his bag and walked out.

"No! Don't give me that look." Stiles said as Sawyer and Anakin walked up to him and Scott, "We have to give people the benefit of the doubt sometimes." Scott said and Sawyer shook her head. "We absolutely do not..Last time we have someone the benefit of the doubt he worked with the women who literally murdered his family just so he can try to kill you." Sawyer said and Stiles gestured to her, nodding rapidly.

"Not this time, all right? We're right! There's something off about him, I can feel it." Stiles said and Scott smiled, "Lydia and Sawyer are the psychics, not you." Scott said as he started walking away making Sawyer squint at him. "We're not psychics, she's a Banshee and I'm Clairvoyant." Sawyer said and Stiles nodded, "Yeah! There's a difference!" He called out.

"There was either something big that he left out of his story or his story was a complete lie." Sawyer said, making Stiles look at her, "You think so?" He asked and she looked at him. "He specifically mentioned that twins killed his Alpha." Sawyer said and Stiles nodded slightly, "Yeah, so?" He asked.

"We know a couple twins who killed their Alpha. Why would he specify that twins killed his Alpha if he didn't know that we knew two Alpha twins and thought that would make his story sound more real?" Sawyer asked and Stiles nodded, "And if he is talking about the twins, his story wouldn't be real because they killed everyone in their pack." Stiles said and his sister nodded.

"He wouldn't have been able to talk to a pack member to find out about the alpha." Sawyer said, "We need to find more concrete evidence against him." Stiles said, making Sawyer raise her eyebrows. "Initiate the Detective Twins?" Sawyer asked holding her hand up, "Let's do it?" Stiles said, high fiving her.

A couple minutes later, Sawyer and Anakin met up with Lydia and they were now down the hall when they both noticed Tracy Stewart standing at her locker looking completely freaked out. They glanced at each other before walking over to Tracy.

"There's nothing there... There's nothing there... There's nothing there... There's nothing there... There's nothing there..." Tracy was mumbling to herself until Lydia grabbed her arm, "Tracy? Are you all right?" Lydia asked and Tracy just glanced around with glossy eyes.

"How about we go outside and get some air. Alright?" Sawyer asked as Lydia gently grabbed Tracy's arm before directing her towards the door.

A few minutes later, Lydia, Sawyer and Anakin stood around in Natalie's office talking to her while Tracy stood outside. "We know what parasomnia is, Mom. But what about the feathers?" Lydia asked and Natalie sighed softly, "People with night terrors have done far stranger things than eating their own pillows. And anyway, I already told her to take the rest of the day off, but she said she didn't want to miss the first day." Natalie said.

"Let us try. Lydia has no more classes, and I... couldn't care less about mine. We can take her home and talk to her." Sawyer said and Natalie sighed softly, "Guys, she's having trouble sleeping. If she needs help beyond that, we'll find her professional help. Got it?" Natalie said and an idea came to Sawyer's mind making her look at Lydia with a slight smirk.

"That's a great idea."

๐ŸŽญ

"I don't see any signs of an attempted forced entry." Parrish said as he looked at Tracy's window. Sawyer, Anakin, Lydia, Tracy and Parrish had gone over to Tracy's house during fifth period to take a look at everything. "The latch seems okay. You said something about birds, Tracy?" Parrish asked and Tracy looked up, "The bird was at the skylight- the one that woke me up." She said

"Can I take a look?" Parrish asked and Tracy nodded, he grabbed a chair and put it under the skylight before stepping up on it. "Tracy, you said the skylight was sealed for weatherproofing?" Parrish asked as he looked at the skylight. "Yeah, why?" Tracy asked and Parrish didn't say anything, just pushed open the skylight making Tracy sigh.

He glanced down at the girls before looking out the skylight. "Anything?" Sawyer asked and Parrish looked over at Sawyer and Lydia then Tracy, making sure Tracy wasn't looking to notice the look on his face. "No. Nothing." He said then closed it and got down.

๐ŸŽญ

"I can't do anything official right now, but I can come back after my shift tonight and watch the house for a couple hours." Parrish said as Sawyer and Anakin walked up to him while Lydia talked to Tracy. "I can help if you want." She said and he chuckled and shook his head, "I think I'll be okay." He said.

"But this is your own time." She said and he shrugged, "I wouldn't do it if I didn't think something strange was going on. I also owe you." He said and she furrowed her brows. "For what?" She asked. "Three weeks of digging through every piece of old literature and mythology, trying to figure out the "something strange" going on with me." He asked and she shrugged and furrowed her brows.

"We haven't even figured it out yet. And if I'm being honest, I only did it so I have someone else to watch Star Wars with other than my brother." She said, making him chuckle and roll his eyes slightly. "What kind of coffee do you like?" Sawyer asked, making Jordan raise his eyebrows at her.

"Don't you have class tomorrow?" He asked and she raised her eyebrows, "You think I care about my classes?" She asked and he chuckled when nodded slightly. "Medium americano, black." He said and she nodded, "Got it." She said, pointing at him slightly before walking over to her car where Lydia was waiting for her.

๐ŸŽญ

"And this is his dad's signature on a transfer form to Beacon Hills High School from just a few days ago." Stiles said as Sawyer and Anakin walked up to the table after dropping Lydia off at home for the day. She grabbed the paper and looked, "Did you break into the administration office?" She asked and he pursed his lips.

"No, I did not break into the administration office." He said and they all just gave him a look, "Okay, I might have broken into the administration office." He said and she nodded. "Good idea." She said, setting the paper down, "Can we just focus on the signatures, please? They're different." Stiles said.

"They're sort-of different." Malia said, making Stiles look at her crazy, "They're completely different! Come on, look." Stiles said and Sawyer nodded in agreement. "Yeah, the garlands don't match, the undulations of the sinuous stroke are totally off... And this is a perfect example of the criminal tremor." Sawyer said, making her brother dramatically gesture towards her while Kira furrowed her brows.

"So, now Theo is Theo, but his parents aren't his parents?" Kira asked slowly, "Someone's not someone. And when I figure out who that someone really is, someone's in big trouble." He said. "But no one's done anything wrong..." Scott said and Stiles turned to him, "Yet. If Theo's parents are both psychotic killers, we should not trust him, right?" Stiles said.

"My parents are Peter and the Desert Wolf." Malia said and Stiles pursed his lips slightly before nodding. "Okay. It's fine. You know what? I'll figure it out myself. Right? I don't need you, or you, or you. I don't need anyone other than my sister." Stiles said as he grabbed Sawyer's shoulders and started pushing her and Anakin towards the doors.

They walked outside, over to the jeep and Sawyer let Anakin in first before climbing in. "What's a "criminal tremor?"" Someone said making them look back to see Liam sitting in the back seat holding up one of the papers. "It doesn't matter." Stiles said, ripping the paper out of Liam's hand.

๐ŸŽญ

"I told you he was up to something!" Stiles says as he, Sawyer, Anakin and Liam were hiding behind a bush watching Theo take something out of his car and walk off. "We just spent three hours watching this dude play video games in his bedroom. He better be out here covering up a mass murder." Liam said. "Let's find out." Sawyer said before walking off, making them follow her.

"You still got his scent?" Stiles asked, "Don't need it." Liam said pointing down at a footprint. "What's wrong?" Sawyer asked when she noticed Liam started to slow down a bit and had a distant look on his face, "I forgot I was supposed to meet Mason at the school gym." He said and Stiles shrugged slightly, "Okay, why didn't you just tell him?

"Tell him what?" Liam asked and Sawyer gave him a look, "Anything." She said and he shook his head. "I can't just tell him anything..." He said making Stiles furrow his brows, "Why not?" Stiles asked and Liam sighed.

"Because I haven't told him everything..."

"Still? We said it was okay." Sawyer said and Liam nodded, "Yeah, I know, but it's not that easy! It's a lot to accept." Liam stressed and Stiles squinted slightly. "He watched our dad blow up a Berserker with a landmine. I think the groundwork's been pretty thoroughly laid for acceptance." Stiles said and Sawyer nodded, "We've all been through this, more than once. It's always been better when they know." She said before they started walking again.

"But what if he freaks out? What if he doesn't want to talk to me? What if he tries to stab me with something silver? Or, what if-" Liam rambled but all of the sudden stopped talking followed by a loud thud making Stiles and Sawyer look at each other before turning around to see a giant hole in the ground.

"What the hell are you doing?" Stiles asked when they walked over to it and Sawyer laughed at the look Liam gave. "There he is. Hurry up! Stop screwing around." Stiles said before grabbing his sister's arm when she went to help Liam and pulled her and Anakin over to a tree. A few seconds later Liam ran over, "Try and get his scent." Stiles said and Liam took a deep breath, "Get anything?"

"Soap." Liam said, making Sawyer close her eyes and pinch the bridge of her nose before slowly looking over at Liam, "It's nice, it smells good." Liam said. "Not his soap- Chemosignals, do you remember those?" Sawyer said and Liam nodded, "Oh, yeah! Okay. I... He's sad."

"He's sad?" Sawyer asked, furrowing her brows and Liam shook his head slightly, "It's not just sad. It's more like... grief." He said, making Stiles glance at him confused. "Grief?" Stiles asked and then realization crossed over Sawyer's features as Theo dropped a flower into the lake, "Oh, my God! Go! We have to go." She said pulling them away as realization crossed over Stiles' face as well. "What? Why?" Liam asked but Stiles just shook his head, "Go! Right now. Just go!"

"That's the bridge where they found his sister." Stiles said after they got far enough away making Liam raise his eyebrows slightly. "What sister?" She asked and Sawyer looked at him, "The one that got lost and died from exposure. He's leaving a flower for her." She said. "That doesn't sound evil." Liam said, making Stiles sigh, "I know."

Stiles glanced up and stopped, stopping when he saw Theo standing in a three before Theo jumped down, making Sawyer pull Anakin back slightly. "What are you guys doing?" Theo asked and Liam growled as Theo stepped forward until Sawyer grabbed his shoulder. "Whoa! Why do I get the feeling this kid's tougher than he looks?" Theo asked, raising his hands up, "Only when we let him off his leash." The twins both said.

"Stiles, we were in Little League together and Sawyer, we sat next to each other for almost a whole year. Why are you guys so suspicious of me?" Theo asked and Stiles signed before pulling out the papers, "Because of these. One's a speeding ticket signed by your dad eight years ago. The other one's a signature on a transfer form to Beacon High. They're different." Stiles said, handing Theo the papers.

"Huh. Yeah, they do look a little different..." Theo said, looking up at Stiles and Sawyer looked at him warily, "No, they're totally different- signed by two different people." Sawyer said and Theo chuckled. "So, my dad's not my dad? Like, he's an imposter?" He asked and Stiles nodded slightly, "Yeah, something like that."

"Who do you think I am?" Theo asked looking at Stiles who shook his head, "We don't know yet." He said. "Want me to give you a DNA sample or something?" Theo asked and Sawyer sighed "No. We don't have anything from fourth grade to match it to." She said.

"You know, guys, I came back here for Scott... But I also came back for the two of you. Someone like you guys. Someone who's willing to walk into the woods in the middle of the night to protect their friends. I don't have anyone like that, but Scott does. You all do. I know I'm in the right place. I'm meant to be here. I'm meant to be part of this pack." Theo said, making Sawyer squint at him.

"No." She said before grabbing Liam and Stiles' arms and pulling them and Anakin in the direction of the jeep.

"Find anything?" Scott asked as they walked up to the jeep making Stiles sigh, "Nope." Stiles said as he climbed into the jeep. "I fell in a hole." Liam said, making Sawyer chuckle and pat his shoulder before moving over to Scott and Stiles.

"It was the bridge where his sister died, wasn't it?" Scott asked and Stiles nodded, "Yes, it was. Very embarrassing. So, we're gonna leave now." Stiles says and turns the key but the engine sputtered making him sigh, "Son of a..." He mumbled before getting out.

"Liam, just do me a favor? Get in the car and turn the ignition when I say." Sawyer said as she left Anakin into the jeep and Liam walked over to the driver side while Stiles and Scott walked over to the front. Sawyer walked over to the back of the jeep, pulling out her tool box before walking over to Stiles and Scott.

"Guys." Scott said, "Be with you in a second. Try it!" Sawyer said as she worked on the jeep. Liam tries to start the jeep but it didn't work, making Sawyer sigh as she got back to work. "Guys." Scott said, making Stiles sigh, "Yes. Okay? We followed him out here. What do you want me to say? That we're stalkers? Huh? That we're crazy? Totally paranoid? None of this is new information!" Stiles said.

"Now you're gonna try to at least give him the benefit of the doubt?" Scott asked and Stiles shook his head, "We give people the benefit of the doubt! We've given a lot of benefit to a lot of people." Stiles said and Scott nodded slightly. "Like Derek? ...Kira? ...Liam?" Scott asked, making Sawyer raise her eyebrows, "We were right about Peter. Try it again! You know, I bet you still think there's something about him that can be saved." Sawyer said and Scott nodded.

"Maybe." Scott said, making Sawyer and Stiles roll their eyes, "Try it again!" Sawyer called out. "Why can't you trust anyone?" Scott asked, "Because you trust everyone!" Stiles yelled before punching the jeep in frustration.

"Woah! Hey!" Sawyer said as she stopped working on the jeep to look at her brother, "Are you okay?" Scott asked and Stiles nodded. "I'm fine." He said and Sawyer gave him a look, "You could've broken it-"

"It's not broken." He said, cutting her off, making her give him a loom, "Let me see it." Scott said and he shook his head. "I'm fine." He said and Sawyer rolled her eyes, "Stiles." She said in a warning tone and he sighed before holding his hand out. Scott gently grabbed it before black veins trailed from his hand to hers.

When he pulled away he looked down at his hand, moving it around not feeling any pain. Sawyer glanced at Scott before sighing softly as she turned back to the jeep. "Look, the bottom line is that we shouldn't trust every new person. Derek, Kira and Liam were an exception, and even then, it took time for us to be able to trust Derek. But people like Matt, Gerard, Miss. Blake, Peter, are prime examples." Sawyer said before looking at Scott.

"Hell- even Meredith did us dirty. It's not smart to trust everyone or give everyone the benefit of the doubt. That's how you get killed." Sawyer said before turning back to the jeep while Scott sighed softly.

๐ŸŽญ

"And here is one medium black americano for the Deputy whose only friend is a teenage lesbian." Sawyer said as she walked up to Parrish and held his coffee out to him. "You didn't exactly give me a choice about the friend thing and you're only using me for Star Wars." He said and she shrugged slightly, "Still friends." She said and he chuckled and shook his head.

They leaned against his car, looking out at Tracy's house, "Has anything happened yet?" She asked and he shook his head. "As far as I can tell, no one's gone in and no one's come out." He said and she sighed, "Sorry for wasting your time." She said and he shook his head and shrugged slightly.

"Not a total waste. I'm just glad Tracy's okay." He said and she nodded in agreement. It was quiet for a moment before Parrish looked over at Sawyer with raised eyebrows. "You okay?" He asked, making her look at him, "Why wouldn't I be?" She asked and he shrugged slightly.

"You're more quiet than normal." He said and she signed softly and glanced down, "You're a deputy, so you might be the best person to ask... Would I be crazy or paranoid for not being open to the possibility of giving someone new the benefit of the doubt and trusting them and trying to find anything that would prove that they're not who they seem?" Sawyer asked and Parrish thought for a moment.

"No, I'd say you're just cautious. After everything that's happened to you and your friends, it's probably a good thing to be cautious." Parrish said and Sawyer nodded slightly, "I'm guessing this is about Theo?" Parrish asked and Sawyer sighed softly.

"I can't shake the feeling that there is something not right with him. And if there's one thing I've learned about my powers, it's that I should always trust my instincts." She said and Parrish nodded. "So trust your instincts. You might end up saving someone's life doing that." He said and she glanced down deep in thought.
