Chapter Eighty-Two

Sawyer laid in bed with her eyes closed for a moment before opening them, looking over at Lydia who was digging through her desk drawers. "What are you looking for?" Sawyer asked and Lydia sighed before sitting back in her desk chair.

"I can't say..." She said, making Sawyer furrow her brows, "Why can't you say?" She asked and Lydia gave her an amused look. "Because I can't." She said and Sawyer smirked slightly, "Did you get me a birthday present?" She asked and Lydia sighed. "And I'm late on giving it to you." Lydia said and Sawyer shrugged slightly, "Only a few days, but I thought we agreed you wouldn't get me anything." Sawyer said as she sat up while Lydia sighed softly.

"For a few days leading up to your birthday you said you felt like something was missing so I thought maybe you'd feel better if I got you something. Then you said that feeling was even stronger on your birthday but your present didn't arrive until the day after your birthday... and I forgot where I put it..." Lydia said, making Sawyer smile softly before standing up.

She walked over to Lydia before leaning down and kissing her. "Have I told you that I love you?" Sawyer asked as she pulled back slightly, making Lydia raise her eyebrows in amusement, "Yes, many times." She said and Sawyer smiled. "Well can you blame me when I get to hear Lydia Martin say she loves me back?" She asked, making Lydia laugh softly.

Sawyer was about to say something until all of the sudden the room started to rattle aggressively. "Sawyer?" Lydia asked worriedly as Sawyer looked around alarmed as to her it seemed like a train was passing by the room. The room flooded with the golden light of a train's exterior lights as all Sawyer could hear was the loud sound of a train's horn.

Sawyer squeezed her eyes shut as she put her hands over her ears, falling to her knees. "Sawyer!" Lydia yelled as she got down next to Sawyer, gently grabbing her arms, "What's wrong? What is it?" Lydia asked. "Did you not hear that?" Sawyer asked and Lydia looked at her worriedly, "I don't always hear the same things you hear." Lydia said and Sawyer frowned as well as she struggled to recall the details of what she just experienced.

"It- it was the sound of a train passing through the room..." Sawyer said, making Lydia furrow her brows, "That's something new..."

Sawyer and Anakin walked into the school and Sawyer instinctively walked over to a locker before leaning against it. A couple minutes later, Lydia walked up to them, looking at Sawyer in confusion. "Who are you waiting for?" Lydia asked making Sawyer furrow her brows before looking at the locker she was leaning against.

"I- I don't know..." Sawyer trailed off slightly making Lydia look at her worriedly for a moment before sighing, "Come on. We have to get to math." Lydia said, grabbing Sawyer's hand as Sawyer groaned. "Do I have to go?" Sawyer asked and Lydia chuckled, "Yes, math is essential." Lydia said and Sawyer scoffed lightly as she looked down at Anakin.

"More like unnecessarily hard bullshit..."

Malia sat in math class when Lydia, Sawyer and Anakin walked into class as the bell rang. "I'm impressed with most of you. It really speaks to your study habits and your commitment to your own education. Everyone else? See me for extra help." Ms. Flemming said as she started passing out graded papers.

Ms. Flemming gave Malia a knowing look and handed her the quiz making Malia look at it to see a D-. Malia growled under her breath as she gripped the edges of her desk so hard that her claws came out. Lydia immediately began distracting Ms. Flemming while Sawyer hid Malia's hand and gave her a look.

"Ms. Flemming-" Lydia started to say but Ms. Flemming cut her off, "I already told you, Lydia- I don't give extra credit for alternate equations based on your own theoretical findings." She said making Lydia purse her lips slightly as Ms. Flemming walks away to continue passing back the test.

"Malia, claws." Sawyer whispered and Malia sat back and took a deep breath before slightly holding up her hand to show she no longer had her claws out.

Sawyer sighed softly before sitting back, looking over at her paper. She momentarily glanced off to the side before pausing slightly when she saw an older woman wearing scrubs and a white lab coat sitting at the desk next to her. Sawyer furrowing her brows slightly as she glanced around before leaning toward the woman.

"Hey, um- who are you?" She asked and the woman just turned to look at Sawyer but didn't say a word. "Are you lost? Are you a ghost?" Sawyer asked and the woman just slowly opened her mouth as the rook shook and a bright light shined onto the class. There was a high-pitched squeal that made Sawyer cover her ears as she cringed slightly.

After a moment, it all stopped, and Sawyer frantically glanced around to find that the doctor is gone and that no one else in the class, Malia and Lydia included, seems to have witnessed what just occurred. She slightly breathed heavily as she glanced around completely confused as Anakin got up and alerted her, making Lydia look over at her.

"Sawyer." Lydia whispered, making Sawyer look at her girlfriend, "Are you having a panic attack?" She asked and Sawyer just shook her head as she took a deep breath. "I'm fine..." She said, mindlessly petting Anakin to tell him she was okay as she slightly glanced around.

After class, Sawyer walked out into the hall with Anakin before pausing slightly. The whispers she naturally hears got louder, making her look down the hall to see the woman from before walking away. Sawyer took a deep breath before quickly following the woman, not paying attention that Anakin was starting to alert her.

She followed the woman to the double doors and right as she opened them, she felt Anakin's leash slip through her fingers. She turned around to grab the leash but didn't see Anakin anywhere in sight as well as the hallway was decently dark and empty.

Sawyer furrowed her brows as she turned around again only to find it was night outside and the parking lot was pretty much empty. "You know me? Oh, thank God you know me!" She heard a voice echo, making her spin around but saw no one.

"Do you see him?" The same voice echoed as Sawyer just looked around before noticing that she was holding her arm out slightly as if someone was holding onto it. "Do you see him? All right, come on! Come on!" The voice said before Sawyer was suddenly pulled forward by an invisible force.

"This way! Whoa, whoa, whoa! Stop!" The voice still echoed as Sawyer suddenly stopped as she could hear the distant sound of a horse. "This way! This way!" The voice said as Sawyer panickedly glanced around, an overwhelming sense of dejร -vรบ washing over her.

"Where are they?" Sawyer asked as she glanced around, "Everywhere!" The voice said. "You're gonna forget me." The voice echoed and Sawyer shook her head slightly as she breathed heavily, "I'm not gonna just forget..." She mumbled slightly as she went to step forward.

"Sawyer! Look out!" Malia and Lydia heard before someone suddenly grabbed Sawyer, pulling her back before she could walk out in front of a car. The car honked at them but Sawyer just glanced around as everything was back to normal again.

"Are you okay?" Malia asked as Sawyer slowly turned to them, "Anakin ran up to us, I thought you were having a panic attack." Lydia said worriedly and Sawyer didn't even really look at them as she stared at the ground, mindlessly petting the top of Anakin's head.

"I- I'm fine." She said and the girls just gave her a worried and confused look, "What were you doing?" Malia asked and Sawyer looked up at them as she took a deep breath.

"Trying to remember."

Late at night, Sawyer opened the door to the basement of the high school before walking in, Lydia and Anakin following. "Hello?" Lydia called out as the couple glanced around, "Over here." Malia said, making them look over to find Malia standing in between a shelf and a metal pillar.

One of her wrists were chained to the metal pillar while the other still needed to be chained to the shelf. Sawyer sighed softly as she glanced at Lydia before they and Anakin walked over to Malia. "Has it really come to this?" Sawyer asked as she raised her eyebrows slightly, "Can you give me a hand?" Malia asked and Lydia pursed her lips slightly.

"If this is a new after-school club... Count me out?" She asked, "I've got a problem. I'm growling at people in class, I'm clawing at my desk... I tried turning the floor of my bedroom into a coyote den." Malia said before holding her hands up. "Do these look familiar to you guys?" She asked and Sawyer furrowed her brows, "Should they?" She asked.

"Malia, do you really think this is going to keep you safe?" Lydia asked and Malia nodded slightly, "They used to! Before the lake house, this is where I'd come for the full moon. But neither of you were down here with me. Scott wasn't down here with me..." Malia said, trailing off slightly as Sawyer nodded slowly.

"Right. So... who was?" Sawyer asked as Malia tried to reach her other hand but the chains stopped her, "You couldn't have done it alone..." Lydia said. All of a sudden Sawyer's phone went off making her pull it out before glancing up at the girls.

"It's Scott."

Sawyer pulled up to the woods, a few feet away from where Scott stood before she, Lydia, Malia and Anakin got out. "Hey." Scott said as he handed each girl a flashlight, "I went to bed at home, and I woke up out in the woods, about a mile out. I think there's a reason why this has happened..." He said before he started walking, making them follow.

"I've been out here before. It was the beginning of sophomore year, the night before tryouts for first line. I remember because it was all that I could think about." Scott said, making Sawyer furrow her brows as she glanced down in thought. "What were you doing?" Malia asked and Sawyer looked up, "We were looking for a dead body." She said making them look at her.

"That's morbid." Lydia cringed while Malia raised her eyebrows, "We?" She asked and Sawyer nodded. "It was my idea to come out here." She said and Scott nodded, "Deaton said that my subconscious is trying to tell me something... But I need you guys to help me figure out what it's saying." Scott said and Lydia shrugged slightly.

"Maybe you and Sawyer were just curious teenagers? Sawyer told you that there was a body because she heard it from her dad." Lydia said and Sawyer furrowed her brows slightly as they stopped walking, "That's exactly what happened but how did I even get to your house? Let alone how did we get here when you live five miles away?" Sawyer asked as she looked at Scott.

"You guys drove." Malia suggested and Scott shook his head, "Neither of us had a car." He said. "You ran." Malia said and Sawyer shook her head, "No, Scott had asthma. I couldn't even have walked to Scott's house cause the one rule I always followed was that I wasn't allowed to walk alone at night without someone or Anakin with me in case I had a panic attack. And I didn't bring Anakin with me that night." Sawyer said as they started walking again.

"I was hiding, but they knew I was here." Scott said, "Maybe you made a ton of noise with your asthmatic breathing." Malia suggested and Scott furrowed his brows. "How would they know that it was me? Why would the Sheriff even think I would be out here?" Scott asked and Sawyer furrowed her brows slightly as she tried to remember every detail of that night.

"Because, like most deaths in this town, it was related to the supernatural." Lydia said and Scott shook his head, "But I wasn't supernatural. I mean, this was the night that I was bitten." Scott said. "He thought you were out here because I got caught by a Deputy..." Sawyer said and Malia shrugged slightly, "That makes sense." She said and Sawyer shook her head slightly.

"No, it doesn't. Growing up, I've always been really sneaky, like to the point I had to become a leash kid cause I would sneak off. I wouldn't let a Deputy catch me that easily when I know I'd get in a lot of trouble... unless I was following someone." She said and Scott nodded, "I wasn't a Werewolf yet... And we weren't out here alone." He said.

"I know it sounds crazy, but... I think I had a best friend. And I think he was out here with me that night." Scott said and Malia shook her head slightly, "It doesn't sound crazy. I know that someone chained me up, and I think they wanted me to stay human." Malia said and Lydia nodded.

"I've been feeling like everything's been too quiet in a way, haven't been able to figure out why." She said before they all looked at Sawyer, who sighed softly and shook her head slightly. "For the past week or so, I've been feeling like something's missing... I- I feel like I'm missing a part of me." She said as she mindlessly petted the top of Anakin's head.

"What if we're all missing the same person?" Scott asked before pulling out something from his pocket, "I think that he was in this picture." He said as he held out the picture of them that Sydney took on picture day. "He was sitting right there..." Sawyer said as she pointed at the empty space between her and Scott.

Deaton turned on a light that illuminated a piece of glass that Scott had from the windshield of a car that someone was taken by Ghost Riders in. "Now she just magically writes down all the answers?" Malia asked as Sawyer sat down at the table, "It's not quite that simple." Deaton said, making Lydia raise her eyebrows slightly.

"It never is." She said, making Sawyer chuckle quietly, "Especially when it comes down to Clairvoyant powers." She said as she handed Lydia Anakin's leash. "In automatic writing, the hand moves outside of any conscious awareness." Deaton explained before gesturing at Sawyer, "Now, Sawyer's powers haven't given any sign about being one that does automatic writing, normally it's Lydia who is. But since Sawyer's been the one hearing and seeing things, it might mean she has a closer connection to what's going on." Deaton said.

"Lucky me." Sawyer said sarcastically before Deaton turned to her, "Hopefully, the silence, the darkness, and the light will allow you to find a more comfortable trance-like state. Sawyer, I want you to stare into the light, and let go of all thought... listen to what the whispers tell you." Deaton said and Sawyer nodded before the others walked away.

Sawyer closed her eyes and took a deep breath for a moment before grabbing the pen. She stared at the glass as she lightly tapped the tip of the pen on the paper, the whispers she naturally hears gradually getting louder. After a second, she suddenly stopped tapping the pen as the whispers got louder and her eyes clouded over.

"I have to warn you... We may not be able to access these memories." Deaton said as he turned to Scott, Malia and Lydia, "Why not?" Scott asked. "The legend has always been that the Wild Hunt takes people. But, if what you're telling me is right, the truth is much worse. They erase people from reality." Deaton said and Scott glanced over at Sawyer as she started writing something.

"How do we remember someone who has been completely erased from our minds?" Scott asked as he turned back to Deaton who just sighed softly. Anakin suddenly stood up and turned to the examination room, making Lydia look over to see Sawyer's writing getting a bit aggressive.

"Maybe he hasn't been..." Lydia said, making them all follow her line of sight as Sawyer started to breath heavily. "Oh, is she...? Should we stop her?" Scott asked as he started to walk over to her but Deaton grabbed his shoulder to stop him before walking past him.

"Sawyer? Sawyer? Slow down." Deaton said before turning off the light making Sawyer stop, dropping the pen onto the desk and sitting back. But she wasn't completely there, she just stared ahead, still in a trance.

"Is she okay?" Lydia asked and Deaton gently grabbed Sawyer's shoulder, "Sawyer?" He asked but Sawyer was too focused on the whispers. Malia cautiously grabbed the paper Sawyer had been writing on, to see the word "mischief" written over and over.

"What does mischief mean?" Malia asked as she set the paper down, making Scott and Lydia look at it. "That's not what she wrote." Scott said before turning the paper slightly to where they were able to notice that the words were placed in specific spots to form another word, "Stiles".

"What the hell is a Stiles?" Lydia said and the moment she said that, Sawyer gasped slightly as her eyes went back to normal. All the whispers stopped and all she heard was complete silence until she heard the same voice from earlier whispering something.

"Remember..."
