El nuevo Rey lo anunció en su primer discurso dirigido a los británicos.

El Príncipe William será no sólo Duque de Cornwall sino que heredará el título de Príncipe de Wales que hasta este jueves había ostentado su padre.

Así lo confirmó el propio Rey Charles III en su solemne primer discurso que dirigió al Reino Unido tras el fallecimiento de su madre, Elizabeth II. El monarca se dirigió a los británicos en una locución grabada desde el Palacio de Buckingham, donde llegó hoy mismo procedente del Castillo de Balmoral junto a su esposa Camilla.

El Rey, que renovó la promesa de su madre de servir fielmente y hacer guardar los principios constitucionales hasta su muerte, tuvo palabras de cariño para la Reina Consorte. "Cuento con la ayuda amorosa de mi querida esposa Camilla. En reconocimiento de su leal servicio público desde nuestra boda hace 17 años, se convierte en mi Reina Consorte. Sé que ella aportará a su nuevo rol la devoción firme al deber de la que he llegado a depender tanto", aseguró.

Después procedió a nombrar a su heredero, William, "Nuestros nuevos Príncipe y Princesa de Wales seguirán inspirando y dirigiendo nuestros debates nacionales".

Y no se olvidó de su hijo pequeño, Harry, con quien según la prensa británica se halla enfrentado. "Expreso mi amor por el Príncipe Harry y Meghan, mientras siguen construyendo sus vidas en el extranjero".

The new King announced it in his first speech to the British people.

Prince William will not only be Duke of Cornwall but will inherit the title of Prince of Wales, which until Thursday had been held by his father.

This was confirmed by King Charles III himself in his first solemn speech to the United Kingdom after the death of his mother, Elizabeth II. The monarch addressed the British in a recorded speech from Buckingham Palace, where he arrived today from Balmoral Castle with his wife Camilla.

The King, who renewed his mother's pledge to serve faithfully and uphold constitutional principles until her death, had words of affection for the Queen Consort. "I count on the loving assistance of my dear wife Camilla. In recognition of her loyal public service since our wedding 17 years ago, she becomes my Queen Consort. I know she will bring to her new role the steadfast devotion to duty on which I have come to depend so much," he assured.

She then proceeded to name her heir, William, "Our new Prince and Princess of Wales will continue to inspire and lead our national debates."

And he did not forget his youngest son, Harry, with whom according to the British press he is at loggerheads. "I express my love for Prince Harry and Meghan as they continue to build their lives abroad."
