Me siento afortunado de no solo haber tenido su ejemplo para guiarme, sino también su presencia perdurable en mi propia vida adulta, tanto en los buenos momentos como en los días más difíciles. Siempre estaré agradecido de que mi esposa haya tenido tantos años para conocer a mi abuelo y por la amabilidad que le mostró.

Nunca daré por sentados los recuerdos especiales que mis hijos siempre tendrán de su bisabuelo viniendo a recogerlos en su carruaje y viendo por sí mismos su contagioso sentido de la aventura, así como su travieso sentido del humor.

Mi abuelo fue un hombre extraordinario y parte de una generación extraordinaria. Catherine y yo continuaremos haciendo lo que él hubiera querido y apoyaremos a La Reina en los años venideros. Extrañaré a mi abuelo, pero sé que él querría que siguiéramos con el trabajo.

@kensingtonpalacenews: My grandfather's century of life was defined by service: to his country, the Commonwealth, to his wife, the Queen, and to our family.

I feel fortunate not only to have had his example to guide me, but also his enduring presence in my own adult life, both in the good times and on the more difficult days. I will always be grateful that my wife had so many years to get to know my grandfather and for the kindness he showed her.

I will never take for granted the special memories my children will always have of their great-grandfather coming to pick them up in his carriage and seeing for themselves his infectious sense of adventure as well as his mischievous sense of humour.

My grandfather was an extraordinary man and part of an extraordinary generation. Catherine and I will continue to do what he would have wanted and support The Queen in the years to come. I will miss my grandfather, but I know he would want us to carry on the work.
