Battle-Sisters

Hey.

Let's get back to it.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Back In Laterano.

"M-Miss Kalina, I'm scared!"

The little Sankta girl held tightly onto Kalina while Kalina tried to think of a way out of their predicament. Ten minutes of running, only to be caught between the two warring factions. Kalina and Gabby had taken cover in a small crater as the sounds of battle rage on all sides.

Kalina kicked herself mentally for putting them in such a dangerous position, but how was she supposed to know both sides were hiding in makeshift trenches on either side of the large park, and her presence would force both sides to retaliate?

"Don't worry. We'll be fine!" Kalina ruffled the girl's hair, smiling down at her.

Before Gabby could reply, Kalina pulled a small, concealed weapon from somewhere she didn't see and aimed it into the sky. Gabby thought it looked like a gun, but its barrel size was too large; such a calibre would break her wrist.

As Kalina pulled the trigger, a red flare shot into the sky for all to see. Gabby realised it was a flare gun and pouted, not realising it sooner.

"S-So what happens now? I-I think you got everyone's attention." Gabby mumbled in worry.

Gabby was correct. The flare had got everyone's attention. Soldiers on both sides pointed to the space between both fighting forces, trying to locate the one who fired the flare, believing the other side was responsible and up to something.

The young Sanka grappled Kalina for comfort, believing she would die. Tears leaked from her eyes at the thought of her parents waiting for her to return but never would.

Untill.

"Pull back!"

"Retreat!"

Gabby's wet eyes widened. Over the decreasing sounds of battle and gunfire, she could hear fearful voices from both sides shouting words she didn't expect to hear.

Kalina peered over the top of the hiding spot and smiled. Gabby attempted to look as well, but Kalina quickly covered her eyes. She did not want Gabby to see the sight of an ally cutting a man in half.

"Daughters! Fight on!" A rough female voice shouted over everyone as the sounds of gunfire were replaced with shouts of pain and struggle. Gabby looked up when a large shadow appeared, and a person stood before her and Kalina. Her eyes widened at the sight before her.

(A.N No bolters as the Enclave have only created one and given it to Patriot, she is only carrying  her power Halberd and shield, Also, replace the gold ring with snow leopard ears and a tail, like Pramanix.)

She wore ornate black armour with silver trim, a red undercoat, piercing red eyes and snow-white hair. The woman also had a large spotted white tail, like a leopard. Gabby stared in open-mouthed amazement at the large armoured woman before them who was looking back with a raised eyebrow.

Gabby's eyes were drawn soon after to the impressive shield and menacing Halberd that sparked with energy, Gabby not caring for the blood dripping off its wickedly sharp head.

"You both going to stand there or what?" The armoured women's voice broke Gabby out of her trance, and she felt herself being picked up by Kalina as they left their hiding spot, soon finding themselves standing before the unknown woman.

Around the area was quiet, there had to be less than twenty of these women in black armour around them, yet they managed to fight off and scare two opposing armies numbering in the hundreds.

"Forgive us, Mother-Superior. I was sidetracked with helping this young lady," Kalina bowed to the taller and older woman.

Gabby was once again shocked. Didn't Kalina say she was a professional thief? Why was she working with someone like this?

"Mhm, I do hope the contract still stands?" Mother-Superior asks politely, but the stern undertone is clear.

"Yes, it stands. As I said... I was helping the young one." Kalina mentions helping Gabby for the second time, not backing down from the woman's piercing gaze.

Gabby looked between the two in confusion, so Kalina was a contractor, not a member of this strange group. The young Sankta didn't notice the gaze of the Mother-Superior looking her up and down. When she did notice the attention on her, she hid behind Kalina.

"This is no place for little girls..." Mother-Superior berates the little Sankta.

"Mmmm!" Gabby glared and tried to retort but found her mouth covered by Kalina.

"She was scavenging for food like most kids here are. I'll return her to her parents and continue my task." Kalina says, still holding Gabby's mouth.

Mother-Superior raises an eyebrow again, but a thin smile appears. "Then be swift with your actions and continue your mission."

"I will, Mother-Superior." Kalina bows quickly, picks up Gabby and leaves the area, feeling the eyes of the armoured woman and the squad of her Battle-Daughters, follow them.

Mother-Superior watches them leave and swiftly turns to one of her armoured daughters,

"Follow them."

"Yes, Mother-Superior!"

Back with Kalina and Gabby, Kalina runs through the streets faster, as if trying to increase the distance between them and the group they had just encountered. Gabby was clinging onto Kalina's back for dear life.

"C-Can we take a break, please?" Gabby asked tiredly. The stress of the day and hunger was getting to her.

Kalina looked around while running as if to look for something before ducking into a bombed-out building, Pulling Gabby off her back and sitting her on a large piece of debris.

"Ten minutes, no more," Kalina said as she stood close by the shattered windows, watching for trouble.

"Who were they?" Gabby's timid and tired voice asked out of nowhere.

She turned to look at Gabby, smiling at her, "Not entirely sure, myself. They appeared a few weeks ago and started attacking both sides of this conflict."

"But... You work for them?" Gabby asked innocently.

"As I told you before, I'm a thief... They want something specific and know they can't just strongarm their way to it, so they needed someone with deft fingers." Kalina shrugged.

"Oh..." Gabby thought about it and decided not to ask what they wanted her to steal.

"All I know about them is the Goddess for which they serve, Kjarr."

"Kjarr?"

"Kjeragandr or Kjarr, Goddess of Kjerag," Kalina informed the clueless girl.

"Never heard of her before," Gabby taps her chin in childish contemplation.

Kalina laughs, "What do they teach you in school, jeez."

"I agree with the thief..." An unknown voice caught their attention.

Upon hearing an unknown voice, Gabby bolts behind Kalina, who is already staring at a strange figure in suspicion but soon turns to dread, recognising the armour instantly.

(A.N Again, no bolter, just a chainsword)

Another armoured woman with the same black armour but with golden trim, the figure looks to be a young grey-haired, blue-eyed Vulpo.

"Why are you following us?" Kalina keeps Gabby close as they slowly back away from the armoured woman.

"Hmph, Mother-Superior asked me to follow you; why else?" The Haughty Vulpo smirks at Kalina. Her fluffy but dirty grey tail swaying back and forth.

Kalina merely sighs in annoyance.

The unknown Vulpo walks forward and stands before the duo, crouching down and hands Gabby a large chocolate bar which she instantly snatches. Gabby runs off to the corner and eats it like a girl possessed, making the Vulpo amused but Kalina Annoyed.

The thief Kalina looks at Gabby in disapproval, "Eat is slower! You'll be sick."

"Mmmm!" That was all Kalina got in reply.

Kalina freezes when she feels the Vulpo lean close to her ear and whisper. "I don't know what I expected from the Living Saint's time-displaced Daughter, but you certainly aren't it."

Kalina recoiled from the armoured Vulpo as if punched and stared at her in panic.

"W-What? How!?" Kalina whispered harshly.

"We serve our goddess, Kjarr. Did you expect Lady Kjarr not to know who you were?"

With a dark glare, Kalina looked at the armoured Vulpo, "Who else knows?"

The Vulpo merely shrugged, "Mother-Superior and the rest of the Battle-Sisters."

"..." Kalina stared at the Vulpo searchingly.

"*Sigh* We aren't your enemy, you know. Your father is the Living Saint who is our goddess's favourite."

Kalina looks away and stares at Gabby, who is nibbling her chocolate slowly and without a care in the world.

"I'm Jeanne, by the way," The now known Vulpo called Jeanne tells her.

Kalina looked at the Vulpo and sighed again, "I'm Kalina."

"Heh, we are aware of who you are. Lady Kjarr lost her sh*t when she told us her favourite boy's daughter broke the timeline and appeared years ahead of her time!" Jeanne laughed at the memory of Kjarr flipping out.

Kalina was stunned. She was figured out so quickly by someone she's never met, "If you know all this, then why didn't your Mother-Superior say anything to me when we first met?"

Jeanne snickered and looked at Kalina with a fake superior look, "Unlike Mother-Superior, I can't keep a secret or my mouth shut to save my life."

Kalina smiled at the unusual Vulpo. Maybe she wasn't so uptight as she thought.

"Kjarr also said you're too much like your dad and have a habit of subverting expectations," Jeanne smirked, but it dropped when she saw Kalina's hurt expression.

"I can't even remember my dad."

Jeanne patted Kalina's shoulder and smiled, "You will, but first, you gotta fulfil your end of the contract!"

Kalina nodded and was about to walk over to Gabby to continue their journey but was stopped by Jeanne, who shot her a strange grin. "Wait! Tell me before you run off."

"Huh? Tell you what?" Kalina shot her a questioning look.

"How did you return to the past?"

Done!

That's some real Dr Who stuff right there.

I did it. I brought the Adepta Soroitas into the fic, but they aren't a Division of the Enclave. They are a military branch of Kjarr.

Kalina, Kjarr and the Sisters of Battles will have a pivotal role in the battles ahead, they won't be Enclave subordinated, and Kalina will come into her own.

They aren't the Adepta Soroitas as we know them. They aren't sooo zealous to the point of burning everyone. They are a small, highly elite military branch of the goddess.

As I said, this Battle Sister group won't have bolters yet. Their weapons mainly consist of Power Halberds and chainswords, very few guns, if any.

So Kalina is time displaced? She's gone back in time? Is it even the same Kalina as theirs? Who knows at this point?

I do not own any Art or Gif's
