Making An Entrance

Hey,

The chapter was a mess last night. So many mistakes, but I think I found them all.

Let us get into it.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

A young, well-built Forte man called Sam was holding a sizeable shoulder-mounted T.V. Camera and yawned. They had been up since dawn recording scenes of the escalating chaos around Lungmen. He and his work colleague, a Lung woman in her early thirties with a green tail and horns, were the group's reporter.

Li Zhao, the pretty Lung, was straightening out her clothes for another report to be made on the conflict in their city. They were part of the L.N.N. (Lungmen.News.Network). It wasn't the most significant News outlet, but they weren't small either. Both she and her Camera operator had been assigned to reporting events but not on live T.V., much to their annoyance.

"Hey! Li, thirty seconds!" Her Forte Camera operator called.

She stood up straight with a handheld mic in hand and put on her best smile. They were protected behind a shield line of L.G.D. Officers who were standing against a very aggressive crowd. Thankfully they found an elevated position to start recording.

"Ten Seconds!"

Sam steadied the Camera on his shoulder and pointed it at the Smiling Lung reporter, a smile that didn't match her backdrop of Anger, screams and general chaos.

Sam gave her the three, two, and one signals then gave a thumbs up.

"Hello, Lungmen and all that tune in to our humble station. The L.N.N."

"I am your Reporter Li Zhao for this update on the current volatile situation here in our beloved city of Lungmen."

She steps to the side and gestures back and forth between The L.G.D. and the rioters.

"As you can see behind me, the situation over the past few weeks has worsened with no signs of slowing down. Large parts of the street and shops have been damaged; this is only one example of dozens, possibly more, that have been damaged with no regard for the lively hoods of innocent people."

Li looks back at the Camera. "All attempts to disperse the crowd have failed, but Madam Ch'en of the L.G.D has stated that she will continue to look for alternate methods."

Sam pointed behind her with a look of worry as Li continued talking into the Camera, catching her attention and making her look behind her and gasp.

"Oh no!... a young woman has emerged from a side street, right between both groups. She needs to leave quickly before something- How despicable! Someone from the crowd has just thrown something at her! Sam, are you getting this?" Li asks as Sam nods a yes to her in reply.

"Are the L.G.D going to help her, or are they going to do nothing and stare at the poor thing!..." Li looks back at the Camera with a grimace, her smile forgotten.

The Camera that Sam was holding suddenly picked up a bolt of blue sail across the street and into the stomach of a rioter.

"Holy shit!" Sam shouts Getting Li's Attention. Li turns to see the dead man fall to the ground.

"Oh my... something just killed that rioter in front of the crowd!. Are the L.G.D. Officers backing up? Were they not responsible for this?"

Another blue bolt comes from nowhere, hitting a rioter in the face and killing him instantly. Li comes out of her brief shock from her experience and starts reporting again.

"Another attack!... Who is the attacker? The crowd is starting to panic!... But wait, Is that Reunion?... Look... Reunion from the crowd! Charging the L.G.D."

Before anything more could be said, dozens upon dozens of blue flashes followed by energy bolts? Started lighting the street, Accompanied by strange sounds. Reunion started falling quickly.

A Blue bolt sails over Li's head, making her scream in panic and duck, along with her Cameraman. All the death and chaos was being caught on Camera as the L.G.D shield wall started, backing up further in fear as Reunion fell In droves to these unknown attackers.

Reporter Li shouted over the suppressive blue bolts that had made everyone but the shield wall drop to the ground in panic. "What is it?! what is shooting? I can't see the shooters!"

She looked around frantically, the Camera still filming her, and the butchery below them continued. L.G.D's resolve had finally broken, as well as their formation due to rising panic and fear. They to dived hard to the floor, trying not to be hit by these lethal blue bolts. What type of Arts was this?

"Sam? can you see them?" She got no response from the Cameraman. Then, looking over, she saw Sam lying on the floor on his side, eyes closed. The camera had fallen out of His grip and onto the floor. Reporter Li crawled over and picked up the Camera only for the sound of heavy footsteps landing next to her and a weapon discharging above her head.

She rolled over with the Camera to capture who the attacker was, only to see nothing there, only a flash appear from thin air above her. Bolts continued to suppress the crowd all around the street, but whatever had landed right on top of her had stopped firing. She could feel it looking at her, but she couldn't see it.

That was until the space in front of her started shimmering. A strange machine appeared in front of her and was looking at her. She looked at it in petrified fascination.

The strange thing was only a few feet in front of her, but it already towered over her with its strange appearance. The unknown entity started moving towards her. She gulped in fear as she pressed buttons on the Camera in desperation. Then, she felt her Ankle get grabbed and dragged towards the strange being, losing the Camera in a sudden motion.

"No, no, no, no!... Please! No!" Reporter Li cried. The Camera's last sight and sounds were reporter Li being dragged off-screen as she begged and pleaded for her life. Screams of horror, panic and unknown gunfire could be heard around the street before the feed cut completely.

One message popped up on the little screen on the Camera's side before it was confiscated by the unknown.

'Upload to L.N.N completed'.

Early morning the next day was one of the most prosperous times recorded for the L.N.N. The Footage from Reporter Li was making waves across Lungmen and now most of Terra. Even if it possibly cost them Li's life and that of Cameraman Sam.

Kal'tsit was tired and far more snappy than she used to be; maybe she was getting old. Kal'tsit sat in her room on her bed, looking at old pictures, mainly of Theresa, Y/n, Amiya and Herself. She was lying to herself if she thought her eyes didn't linger on Y/n's picture the most. It was rare that she had just stopped working to look at evidence of the past.

The Lynx woman gripped a crumpled letter in her hand that she had always kept with her, hidden in all her paperwork or desk. It has been weeks since he left-weeks since he had left her alone again. Kal'tsit felt betrayed but knew if she saw him again and told him of that feeling of betrayal, it would only haunt her for the rest of her existence.

She again tore her eyes away from the pictures and placed them firmly on the crumpled letter of Resignation in her hand before opening it again. Why did she keep doing this to herself? Reading the letter only tore her heart more. Her eyes glazed over the contents for the 40th time. 50th?

'Resignation'

Dear Doctor Kal'tsit of Rhodes Island

I, Doctor Y/n of Rhodes Island, formally resign from my position and this company immediately. Thank you for the support and goodwill you and your staff have given me throughout my return. I have learned much and can only express gratitude for everything you have done for me.

Now that the formal stuff is out of the way. Let me be honest and open now.

Kal, in the short time I have been back with Rhodes Island, I have received nothing but contempt, distrust and hate from all walks of life of this company that preaches a 'new start' and 'forgets past actions.' Only Amiya gave me the time of day. If people were not actively expressing their feelings about me behind my back. They avoided me like I was Oripathy incarnate.

I am not a machine, Kal. I have feelings, but not that you could ever care about such meaningless things regarding my well-being. I could honestly say in what little memory I have left. I have never experienced such a horrible working environment, at least for me. Everyone is Happy and content around here, but I must suffer in silence because you and they think I deserve it? All I can say to that is, 'Grow Up.'

Let's emotionally beat the amnesiac that remembers nothing because he deserves it. I'm tired of how everyone looks at me, but most of all, I'm tired. I'm tired of you, Kal. My Ex-wife, with such a spitful attitude towards me, yes, I know Kal, I'm not stupid.

A part of me could say that I love you, but no man should have to love someone that spends their energy hating them, and I think I deserve better. I look at you, and I get glimpses of the past. I know you were once happy. I have seen flashes of your smile. But, unfortunately, that will never happen while I remain near you.

Goodbye, Kal'tsit.

Kal'tsit can once again feel her heart shatter. This letter will be the end of her. She wipes a tear that escaped and puts the letter back where she had hidden it. She would never smile while he was there with her; what a foolish thought. If I see him again, I'll show him I can smile around him!

Before she could say any more, Amiya barged into the room unannounced.

"Kal'tsit, you must come and see what's happening on the news!" Amiya calls out. She sees the dishevelled state of Kal'tsit and gives her a sad frown. Amiya has not gotten over the Doctor's disappearance, and she doubts she ever will.

Kal'tsit stands up and straightens her clothes before following Amiya without saying anything. Putting on her cold expression. She will not let others see her as weak or downhearted.

The lynx woman was unaware that this one news broadcast would throw most of Terra into a state of confusion and panic.

Done!

I think I got those pesky spelling mistakes.

I had never written a news report before, so I'm sorry if it was strange. I made the reporter speak in bold black font because I thought it would be easier to understand. Not sure if that was better or just standard talking text.

The 'Resignation' letter contents were finally revealed. I had far more planned for it but thought it would have bloated the letter too much.

One small event is capable of throwing civilisations into a panic.

Next, Chatper will be a reaction-type chapter, I think. From different factions about what they saw. If only they knew how much was coming.
