Opportunity

Hey, let us get straight to it.

I debated the path I was going with this—so many options.

I think I got it.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Y/n is walking along a busy road at sunrise, Backpack over one shoulder, outstretched arm and thumb stuck out, trying to attract a driver to stop, hoping for a lift. Nomad cities may move, but roads are still essential across the land.

He was watching the oncoming traffic as he walked. Rhodes Island surely would know he was gone by now; it's only been a few hours. They may have sent scouts to track him down.

Y/n needed a weapon, and soon, This was not a scenario to be unarmed and vulnerable. He was thinking about his plan; he was unsure of what path he should take. At first, he wanted to go to Lungmen and call in a favour from Penguin logistics. Emperor owed him one, but he knew Kal'tsit would anticipate him going there.

He was also owed a favour from Texas, the Lupo who works with Emperor. He could call her. She was always willing to help him, even though she struggled to maintain eye contact with him when she could see his face. Her ears twitched adorably when he smiled at her.

As Y/n was walking and thinking about Texas, he failed to notice a large black six-wheeled Truck coming in from behind, slowing down before making a gentle stop. He finally saw headlights from behind him and the squeak of its breaks.

He Whirled around to approach the vehicle and thank them for a lift before stopping and started to notice the intimidating Truck that had parked behind him.

Y/n, the former Doctor of Rhodes Island, instinctively backed up from this unknown vehicle. Headlights dimmed but were still bright, obscuring his vision. He could only see a large door on its side open and a dark figure emerging. He knew this was no civilian vehicle; This was a military spec truck; of who? Y/n doesn't know. He can't see any markings on its sleek black body.

The feminine figure walks to the front of the Truck with a graceful stride. Y/n can see this woman is not someone to be taken lightly. He doubts she is alone in a vehicle of that size. Any wrong move could devolve into a fight, and without a weapon, what chance does he have?

He watches as her hand raises above her head and signals to the Truck behind, and without delay, the headlights turn off, letting Y/n finally get a good look at the figure.

He would admit that she was beautiful in a Kal'tsit kind of way. But her severe and cold face was giving him flashbacks, honestly.

"Dr Y/n, of Rhodes Island, I presume?... It's a pleasure to meet you."

She walks closer to him, giving him a clearer view of her cold face.

Taking a step back in suspicion but deciding not to test her patience, "Just Y/n now, I guess you could say I'm unemployed now, Heh."

".... We know of your little escape mission, Mr Y/n, It was sloppy work, but I suppose you got the result you wanted, yes?" She stated with little emotion.

He was growing even more suspicious of this woman. "How do you know what I was doing?, Are you with Rhodes Island?... I don't ever recall seeing you."

"We are not with Rhodes Island, Mr Y/n."

"We?" He narrows his eyes.

She gives him a faint smile and replies. "You need a new codename. Y/n is lame." Not evening bothering to answer his previous question.

"Sticks and stones... I'll think about it. So what's this about?" He gestures to the Truck behind her. "You saw your opportunity to kidnap me when I was alone?"

"We are not here to kidnap you, Mr Y/n. But I will offer you a Job if you answer two questions for me and sate our curiosity."

"Strange place for a Job interview, isn't it?... On the side of the road," He says with a grin.

"Question one, What's your biggest complaint with what you have seen around Terra since waking up from that sarcophagus." She asks abruptly.

She did not even respond to his quip, making him frown, Should he be concerned she knows so much? But he thought hard for a moment at her question while the unknown woman stared at him blankly, awaiting a reply.

He was thinking about all he had seen on the news networks across Terra and the clusterfuck that was Chernobog he escaped. Y/n would admit that Rhodes Island had an extensive information network. Unfortunately, that means he could see how wrong and cruel everything was.

He looked at her and started to vent.

"My complaints? Ha!.. Where to start? I watched Reunion cut down innocent families because people said mean things about them, watching them destroy an entire city while still preaching how victimised they are! I've seen how corrupt pretty much all governments are and how much effort they go to silence anyone that speaks."

He takes a deep breath, not noticing that he has started to pace in front of her and continues to vent as she assess him with a raised brow.

"Criminals run rampant, and Terrorists are uncontested. Unfortunately, people in power are corrupt and turn a blind eye to this ridiculous amount of suffering. Everyone is stupid enough to swallow all that 'everything is okay' bullshit that's shoved down their throats."

Y/n takes another breath, lowers his head in dismay, and mumbles. "But no one cares, do they?"

He looks up at her again. "I thought I was helping, But not even Rhodes Island is that overly concerned with everything happening around them. They won't be the ones to change the world. Even if Kal'tsit believes they will. That stupid sexy Lynx." He mumbles that last bit.

The Unkown woman spoke up, breaking Y/n out of his roadside fantasy. "...Interesting... Second and last question, Mr Y/n. Suppose you could change the world if given the tools and resources. Would you do it?"

Y/n looks to the side, thinking about how to answer her question. He is slightly aware of the cars that fly by him with little interest. The unknown woman looks at the watch on her wrist but continues to wait.

He found his answer and voice, looking back at her with his own cold eyes. "I don't want to change the world; I want to change how we think. If I solve Terra's problems, nobody in this world will learn a damn thing. I would rather be the example, not the servant saviour! So let everyone watch me do what they will not, and they will follow soon after."

The Unkown woman looked at him briefly before smiling as her yellow eyes glowed dimly in amusement. She walked closer to him and held out her delicate hand. "I think we can help you with that, Mr Y/n."

He looks at her hand and hesitates before shaking it firmly.

"You may call me Agenta, your new assistant." She gives him a cold smile, finally showing some emotion, Letting go of his hand and leading him to the Truck.

He is about to enter the Truck but stops and turns to her. "I have my new codename."

"Oh?"

"Farsight" He gives a playful smile.

"I do not know that word... What's the significance?" She looked confused.

"For the greater good," He smirks at her before entering the Truck.

Agenta looks lost for a moment before shaking her head and entering the Truck behind him, closing the door. He must have lost his sanity.

The Truck starts back up and speeds down the road into the distance.

Agenta has yet to inform Y/n of Rhodes Island's current panicked state.

And done.

That was hard to write. I had planned on Y/n finding cool stuff and going to town on everyone individually, but I decided it's cooler to have an army behind you.

Y/n is going to be pretty OP, I think.

Shout out to any who got the Agenta or Farsight reference or who the lady in the picture is.

Vote if you like, Or not. Heh.
