Bombardment

Hey there,

Thanks for everything!

Let's get back to it.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Farsight was sitting on one of Lungmen's many skyscrapers, feet hanging over the edge, enjoying the view below. He had been informed of the Victory against the Reunion reinforcements and how Seneschal had started moving his forces North towards Chernobog.

Mal-Mal clarified that she encountered another force up North and wanted to deal with it to prove trustworthy. Actions speak louder than words, he supposed. Once she had finished with this unknown force which Farsight could only assume was either more Reunion or Ursus, she would turn her attention to Chernobog and assist Seneschal, not that he believed either needed the assistance.

He had faith they could deal with Reunion in Chernobog just like he was preparing to push Reunion out of Lungmen, an assault on multiple theatres. Once both Reunion forces had fallen in both cities, Reunion would scatter, leaderless, assuming Talulah and the other Leaders meet their fate. Then, all they had to do was go hunting. Agenta will track anyone from Reunion who Flees and finish them off quickly. Her Division is the most mobile even if they have few numbers currently; Agenta does not want to be left out of this minor campaign.

From behind, a female figure appeared from a hovering Orca with its stealth generators active, wearing the standard armour of his Division and approaching him, armed and ready for a fight.

"You requested me, Commander?" The female figure bows politely to her new family's Leader as he stands up and approaches her. He is wearing the same Underlayer that all his soldiers wear but without the armoured plates. Instead, a white helmet covers his face obscuring his identity.

"Ah! Misha... I'm glad you're here. After seeing you on the news and how LGD treat infected, I knew I had to do something" He sounds pleased to see her.

"Oh... Umm, thanks, Commander!"

"Now, I wanted to inform you that you won't be a part of the infantry," Farsight stated, causing Misha to frown.

"Commander? but why I have completed the simulated training like all the others have. I passed all my tests!"

"Yes, you did, and I'm assigning you to be my diplomat here in Lungmen." Farsight smiles at her opened mouth expression.

"I don't follow." Misha furrows her brow in confusion.

"I want you to be my voice here in Lungmen, the people in the slums speak highly of you. The children love you, and the Infected praise you. I couldn't think of anyone better representing me regarding the Lungmen elite and its government. What do you say?." Farsights holds out his hand.

"C-Commander?? I-I don't know, umm" Misha looks flustered and thinks for a while before steeling herself, grabbing his hand firmly, and looking up into his helmet.

"I take that as a yes?" Farsight questions, hopefully?

"Yes, Commander, I'm not sure how good I will be at talking with people on your behalf, but I can try!"

"Good! Don't worry. I will be there most of the time, but for now, as a show of trust between us," Farsights raises his hands to his helmet and unclasps it pulling it off his head and tucking it under his arm. He looks at her with a smile she can see.

Misha is staring up at the Handsome man with a red tint on her cheeks. Eyes widen and mouth slightly ajar. But it's who he is that surprised her the most.

"Y-You're Y/n! Doctor of Rhodes Island," Misha stutters out in disbelief.

Farsight's smile quickly morphed into shock as he stared at the blushing Ursus girl he had just promoted. How did she know that!?

"I think you have me mistaken!" Farsight says too quickly.

"I saw your picture at the LGD Headquarters when I was in protective custody," Misha snorts in sarcasm at the mention of protective custody. "It was said you were missing!"

"*Sigh* I am not missing. I resigned from Rhodes... due to poor working conditions, let us leave it at that." Farsight sighs in frustration as he looks away.

"I won't say anything, Commander. Please trust me," Misha rolled her eyes.

He looks at her blankly, searching her eyes for something before smiling, "I certainly hope not. Thank you, Misha."

"You're welcome, sir!" She mumbles bashfully.

"Now, enough of that. I have your first assignment."

"I'm ready. I think," Misha tries to sound confident.

Farsight smirks down at her. "You are to attempt to open negations with Chief Wei and the LGD department here in Lungmen. If they accept, we will speak to them together. I have matters that need addressing."

Misha stares at him momentarily, trying to comprehend the large request. "Will they even want to talk, sir? You did attack the LGD, and rumours around the city say that the Leader of the Special Inspection Unit, Chief Ch'en, is gunning for you."

"Ch'en and I have a recent history, that's all. She's a shameless flirt. When the time comes, I will handle her, don't worry. Now, return to your duties; I will find you soon." Farsight gives her a nod and sends her on her way.

"As you say, Commander," Misha bows before leaving.

Farsight watched Misha leave with interest. He was grateful he got her first, with some digging and interrogation of Reunion thugs. He had discovered that Misha was the sister of one of the Reunion leaders going by the codename Skullshatterer. He was here in this city looking for her. He hoped when he eventually found Misha, Misha would make the right choice and not betray him.

He had been burned and betrayed enough times to know that Misha's turning was a genuine possibility. She might turn against him if Skullshatterer is desperate enough or, more likely, pulls the family card. He had contingency plans for that, just in case.

Farsight's communicator started to vibrate as he pulled it out and read the message on the small display. His eyes shine, and he smiles again.

'Agenta: Mal-Mal has begun her assault on Chernobog to the North. Seneschal is about to arrive at Chernobog's South outskirts to pincer move. But, unfortunately, Ursus forces arrived before us and are attempting to reclaim the city. But do not worry Commander, the city will fall soon. Reunion and Ursus forces will break before the city does.'

Farsights laughs as he rubs the back of his neck in delight. It's good when a plan comes together, "Your move Talulah. Ahahaha." He chuckles to himself.

"Seneschal! Artillery is in position! All crews awaiting the order to begin bombardment" A random soldier rushes over and informs their Division leader.

"Good, Good... Commence firing on my command."

Seneschal is standing on an Enclave tank that was used in the Ambush previously and is watching not only his men prepare for a city-wide offensive but looked back at dozens of artillery crews scattered in open fields in dugouts. All were looking at him with eager eyes, wanting to bring the pain to Reunion, and now Ursus, whom Mal-Mal had informed them, was on the other side of the city. Many different forms of Artillery were brought up just for this occasion, all of which could utilise many different ammunition types. Seneschal was curious about these Mustard Gas rounds that Mal-Mal provided.

Seneschal doubted they would get to Ursus before Mal-Mal finished them, but a man can dream. Seneschal takes a deep breath before shouting to the artillery crews behind him.

"Open fire!, Shatter the sky!"

Within seconds of the command, dozens of barrels of many calibres and lengths pointed skyward, opened up in a thundering chorus that continuously made many with sensitive ears flinch. Many wished it was dark so they could see the beautiful and lethal firework display in all its glory, but instead, all they got was a city taking blow after blow as Reunion scattered or dived for whatever cover they could find.

One Reunion soldier out in the open was unlucky and was struck directly, his body was blown to pieces, and body parts flew into the sky. Entire buildings were starting to buckle under the constant strain of bombardment, and many had already collapsed into the streets beyond their eyesight.

"Poor bastards," Seneschal heard one of the Durin tank crew members next to him mumble out in surprise. Most of his soldiers looking on were fixated on the carnage happening in front of them from their crouched, low positions. His soldiers were informed that this bombardment wasn't a 5-minute job, more like a few hours. So they got comfortable and waited.

"Sir!" One of his officers shouted over the booming noise.

"What is it, Lad" Seneschal shouts and leans closer to him to hear what he has to say.

"How long will the Bombardment last?" His officer enquires.

Seneschal smirks at his junior "Until the city is a husk of its former self!"

"But, sir! We wanted Chernbog for ourselves... Why are we destroying it." Youngblood questioned who was among the Junior officers standing on the tank and listened to the Seneschal as they stared at the chaos in the distance.

"We need the city's foundation, its ability to move. We don't need the city itself. It would be torn down anyway to create an armoured shell and a base for all of us." Seneschal explained.

One of the officers was about to reply, but all heads turned to the city upon seeing flashes of green in the far distance. It was only faint, but behind the moments of orange and thick smoke, Shades of green started to flash upon the sky, merging with theirs.

"It looks like Mal-Mal has joined the fight," Seneschal smirks. His officers look at each other in confusion but shrug it off.

"AHHH!"

A terrified Reunion soldier runs into an Alley just as one of his brothers is suddenly hit by a strange green beam, turning him instantly to ash down to the bone. He looks at the remains of his brother-in-arms in horror. Everything was going well! With the help of one of their Leaders, Patriot, they quickly stopped an Ursus breach.

They should have known it was odd when the weak Ursus artillery stopped firing. When some Ursus soldiers stopped trying to breach the city and rushed back the way they came as if they were under attack. They thought it was an easy win until flashes of green appeared in mass behind the Ursus soldiers and then the screams! The unholy screams of terror and pain!

Before Reunion knew it, Thousands of Ursus soldiers were running towards the city, screaming in fear! Many had dropped their weapons in unholy panic. They weren't even fighting Reunion anymore. Instead, Ursus's soldiers tried to claw and dig their way into the city, Begging to be let past the defences even when his brothers and sisters cut them down without mercy.

And then, pouring out of the forests beyond in the thousands were strange people in skeletal armour and gaunt face masks with piercing green eyes. They thought they were machines, but animal features and limbs could still be seen among them. Moreover, their movements were unnatural; they moved in perfect sync!

Before this nightmare army started moving up to the city, before Reunion started joining Ursus in screaming in terror and pain, they saw a single face among the sea of emotionless masks. A type of face any could recognise as 'normal.' An out-of-place happy face and pose. She was clearly a Sankta in a strange outfit. Only a glimpse before a wave of green death started piercing the lines with no remorse and breaching the barricades with sickening ease.

Done!

I honestly feel sorry for Reunion and Ursus at this point.

Once Chernobog is sorted, I will concentrate on part of the romance section for Farsight; I have plans in the following few chapters for Ch'en, Lappland and Texas.

Thanks for all of the support!
