Amnesia vs Love

Hey.

Farsight is Y/n, and I know you all probably know that by now, but the chapter bounces from Y/n to Farsight, so bear with it.

Warning! More cannon/lore breaking for Kal'tsit. This chapter pretty much breaks the actual history of Kal'tsit and other things.

Let us get back to it.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

A few hours before Texas finds Farsight.

"Stand down, Operator Exusiai!" Kal'tsit glared hard at the upstart Sankta.

"What did you do to Texas..." Exusiai asks furiously.

Kal'tsit and Exusiai are standing across from each other and glaring, daring the other to make a move. But, unknown to the two, everyone subtly reaches for their weapons except Amiya and Warfarin.

"Exusiai, please! We didn't do anything." Amiya pleads.

"An apple pie says this jealous hag has a hand in it!" Exusiai points at Kal'tsit.

"HAG!?" Kal'tsit recoils as if she was slapped.

Even Mon3tr looks offended by the insult as it growls at Exusiai.

"Um? M-Miss Exusiai? I was there when Texas received a phone call. I don't believe Dr Kal'tsit had anything to do with Texas..." Sussurro's voice cut through the tension as Exusiai looked between the Vulpo and Lynx.

Sussurro didn't know why Exusiai thought Kal'tsit was responsible for Texas running but was thankful she wasn't forced to tell them the truth. Operators Texas's secret was hers to share, not hers. A convenient lie in the form of a fake phone call seemed to have worked.

Exusiai took a deep breath before lowering her weapon. The action raised an eyebrow from the affronted Kal'tsit but followed as Mon3tr disappeared, everyone letting out a breath they didn't know they were holding.

"So... you're both done with this little spat?" Silence asked as she pushed up her glasses in annoyance.

"*Groan* I wanted to see who would win!" Blaze groaned in fake sadness, receiving a pat on the head from Ptilopsis.

"Can I leave now?" Exusiai didn't respond to Silence or Blaze as she looked at Amiya, who nodded mutely.

Exusiai turned to leave, but before she left, she turned and nodded to Nearl and Blaze in thanks for standing up for her. Giving them both a genuine smile, a smile that formed into a frown as she gave Kal'tsit one final look before leaving.

Kal'tsit said nothing as the Sankta left. Kal'tsit stood there momentarily before going through a side door without glancing at anyone in the room. The door closed quietly behind the stone-faced Lynx as she left.

Once the door had closed, Warfarin glared at Amiya in annoyance before looking around the room at everyone else.

"Do you idiots not know how to read a room!?" Warfarin shouts, surprising most in the room.

"What do you mean, Dr Warfarin?" Nearl tilted her head in confusion.

"You all damn well know that Kal'tsit is not in the best place right now. So why in Terra did you keep bringing up Y/n!" Warfarin gowled in frustration, baring her sharp fangs at them, surprising them further.

Everyone was speechless.

"I spent weeks trying to help Kal, then you all come along and throw all that work away!" If Warfarin's glare could kill, everyone would die in a heartbeat.

"Woah! Hey, we-" Blaze started.

"....Shut...Up..." Warfarin's piercing, blood-red eyes narrowed at the battle feline.

Amiya looked like she was going to speak but stopped herself. She was caught by the watchful eyes of Warfarin, who turned her attention onto the poor Cautus.

"You..."  Warfarin said, and she sneered at Amiya. "Why did you want Kal'tsit here?"

"I-I didn't think She...-" Amiya stuttered, completely thrown off by Warfarin's threatening aura she was giving off.

"NO, you didn't think! So now Kal'tsit is back to square one," Warfarin lost her fire, slumped back into her chair, and leaned back. "Kal'tsit is older than any of you would know or would believe and has lost so much that most people would have broken.

Everyone stared at the lounging, reminiscing Warfarin, who stared up at the ceiling, unsure if she was thinking of good old days or bad memories. But whatever she was doing, Warfarin was giving out information none of them knew until now.

Everyone slowly returned to the table and sat quietly, listening intently to Warfarin. Amiya was still shaken by the telling-off she had just gotten.

"One day, when Kal'tsit was much younger, when she used to smile and wear summer dresses, she was placed into an arranged marriage against her will with a man she knew nothing about or hadn't even met. That man used her; he treated her like dirt, used her connections for his purposes, and her life was miserable. Kal wasn't as strong back then and didn't have Mon3tr to help her.

Those around the table frowned. Was Farsight that type of person? None of them could believe that Farsight would do something like that to Kal'tsit. They knew he didn't have the best track record for Operators, but to actively abuse someone like Kal'tsit.

Warfarin smiled to herself, which they all could see plain as day and questioned themselves.

Why would Warfarin smile at such a memory?

"Then comes Y/n, out of nowhere, finds a place at Kal'tsit's side, much to the hatred of Kal's husband. At some point, Kal'tsit falls for Y/n, and they run away together like in a cheesy love novel. Her husband mysteriously dies a few weeks later, and she marries Y/n in some run-down chapel by a half-drunk Sankta."

Everyone smiles at the thought of Kal'tsit running away from her hated husband to be with the one she loved.

So it looks like Farsight wasn't the bad guy, which makes them happy, but they soon remember how they all treated him.

Guilt fills them.

But another part of them wanted to know how did Kal'tsit's husband die? Seemed way too convenient. They all thought.

Warfarin pulls out a picture she snatched from Kal'tsit's office in her not-so-secret drawer. She has no problem with revealing someone's past. Kal'tsit is making herself seem unstable and unhinged at this point. It's For The Great Good.

This is the best way to at least try and salvage her fracturing reputation.

(A.N. Pretend she is smiling brightly.)

Warfarin passes the picture to the enraptured Amiya, who listens to every word with wide eyes.

"*Gasp* She's beautiful!" Amiya covers her mouth in shock. Everyone looks at the picture as it gets passed around. Everyone's shocked at seeing Kal'tsit wearing a wedding gown and seeing her smile brightly at them.

A completely different Kal'tsit.

Warfarin takes back the picture and smiles at it.

"The rest is history, Theresa and Theresis, Babal, Rhodes Island... The breaking point was Y/n's Amnesia. While Kal'tsit was in a miserable marriage with a terrible excuse of a husband, she had everything but happiness. So when she ran away with Y/n, she gave up everything to be with him and have a chance at happiness."

"So... When he returned and had no idea who Kal'tsit...was...Oh dear," Silence looked down in sadness and understanding.

"Yes... The one thing that made Kal happy returned to her only to ask who she was... That's when Kal'tsit knew she had lost everything" Warfarin looked at the ceiling again in dismay.

Everyone looked down in shame, sadness and awkwardness. Some had tears as they thought about how Kal and Y/n must be feeling.

Amiya started sniffling as she rubbed her face with her hands.

Amiya weeps into her hands as she thinks of the pain Kal'tsit must be going through, which only comes out as negativity against Y/n, ultimately pushing Y/n away from them.

"And now, Y/n or Farsight runs around just out of reach of Kal'tsit, always in the news, always a nail in her heart as he moves on, and she wallows in her misery, still hoping he will one day appear, scoop her into his arms and tell her, 'He remembers'. Warfarin looks at them all before standing up and approaching the door.

"Judge Kal or Y/n if you wish, but remember, there is always a reason why someone acts the way they do. Heh, If only you could see them back in the day, so young and in love...What a cruel fate" Warfarin leaves.

Amiya sobs harder as Nearl and Blaze rub her back affectionately. Sussurro sits there saddened but confused about how she got involved here. She just wanted a nap!

Ptptilopsis is sitting straight. Her eyes closed, face slightly strained as if she was trying to show some emotion.

Blaze attempts to comfort Amiya but feels a pit in her stomach. She always spoke out against Y/n when Kal'tsit was around, so it was a look of hurt and conflict in Kal'tsit's eyes... She guessed insulting the one Kal'tsit loved was a poor move.

Closure sat there, looking around. She knew bits and pieces of Kal'tsit's past but never to that extent. She could see what Warfarin was doing and was incredibly proud of her blood-sucking compatriot.

"The only question I would ask is why Dr Kal'tsit treated Y/n the way she did?" Nearl asked the quiet group.

"Coping mechanism, maybe?" Silence guessed.

"Felt betrayed?" Blaze spoke up.

"Lost the meaning of her life, fell into soul-crushing loneliness, and her only escape was to vent her sorrow on the one her broken heart believed to be responsible," Sussurro said, making everyone look at her.

"Damn, Suss, that hits the feels hard..." Closure quipped at the small Vulpo.

"I want my father back!" Amiya shouted in despair as tears flowed down her face. Her large rabbit ears hung low, making everyone look at her in shock.

Closure looked at Amiya in pity before coming to a startling realisation.

Rhodes Island will lose Kal'tsit and Amiya to despair or worse if they don't convince Farsight to come here and help.

Agenta stood in her dimly lit room and stared at her bedsheet-covered mirror. Her actions and that leading up to them weighed heavy on her mind. The look of disappointment on Farsight's face wracked her brain constantly.

She was acting a fool. She was the harlequin of her own story. Everyone looked at her in fear or contempt. Even her own Division seemed happier to take orders from Farsight or other Division heads.

All because she deluded herself with ideas that she would be Farsight's wife and could lead the Enclave at his side, jealousy and envy poisoned her, and now Farsight won't even look at her.

What a naive little girl she had become.

But no more!

She will regain Farsight's respect and trust.

But did she ever have either?

Very doubtful, Mal-Mal and herself were acting like love-struck schoolgirls. But, unfortunately, Agenta has learned the hard way, and Mal will soon have to learn as well.

Love is secondary to gaining his trust and confidence.

Agenta reached up to the covered mirror and pulled off the bed sheet, her reflection revealed and looking back at her.

Agenta looked at herself from head to foot, glowing yellow eyes reflecting back at her as she scoured every inch of her old clothing choice, noticing the bumps of her Farseer armour still hidden underneath her old look.

Division leader is not enough to turn Farsight's head. It will not get him to trust or seek her out actively.

She will create a company that only she knows how.

One that will aid Farsight in a way no Division could.

Agenta fears Farsight's rejection but wants to build a better future.

Agenta looks into her own eyes in the mirror and smirks.

"Face The Fear, Build the Future"

Done!

That was really fun to write!

But also rather emotional, I didn't want a cannon past of Kal'tsit, I wanted something a bit different, so I created that little back story, not world ending by any means, but I hope it's enough to understand Kal a bit better.

We're getting deep into the Kal'tsit rabbit hole, or Lynx hole, no horny!

Will Farsight end up remembering Kal'tsit? I hope so. I know I make Kal'tsit seem like a b*tch, but I'm trying to make her seem like a flawed and broken woman who only wants her happiness back.

Amiya has done and said it. She finally admits how she feels about Farsight. It looks like she's starting to crack now.

With Agenta, I always wanted her to stay close to her original form. When she became Farseer, I felt she lacked who she was as a character, she's still Farseer of the Enclave, but she will fulfil a purpose.
