Silver Bell Tolls

Hey!

I've got work on Monday and Tuesday, so I'll try to have another chapter out either Tuesday night or Wednesday.

Letting you know cause I have updated twice in one day. I don't want people to think that's normal.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

A long, drawn-out beep could be heard from the ECG machine.

"He's flatlined!"

"Get a crash cart, now!"

"Clear... Clear!"

*Beeeeeeep*

Medical Interns rush about trying to save Y/n life. The guards present only watch on in fascination and alarm at the chaos one heart monitor could create.

The door to the medical ward slams open, and a ragged Agenta rushes in, noticing the chaos. She spots an alarmed Mal-Mal in the corner, watching everything unfold but doing nothing.

"Mal-Mal! Do something now."  Agenta cried out, pointing at Y/n.

The Smartest Sankta didn't hear her. She only mumbled to herself as she stared at the scene. "How, How? everything was perfect?"

"Clear...Clear!" Another Intern shouted, trying to restart Y/n's life.

*Beeeeep*

Despite their efforts, Y/n would not revive, Forcing the Interns to sigh in dismay, Forcing them to verify and announce his time of death.

Agenta was lost. All that planning for nothing? So much invested for nothing!? He was supposed to be the one to change their world, Her world!

Agenta turned her Red and wet eyes to Mal-Mal. Fury was an understatement. She was the smartest Sankta she knew, but she just stood there like a moron! And Mal-Mal was now walking away!

She was storming off after Mal-Mal, who had already walked out of the ward. It didn't take her long to find her. All she had to do was follow the sniffling noise. Passing another empty corridor, she found Mal-Mal sitting on the clean white floor with her knees pulled up to her chest.

All fury Agenta held at the moment evaporated at the site of her weeping friend. She just gave a drawn-out sigh and slumped down next to her. She could still hear Mal-Mal mumbling.

Mal-Mal raised her head slightly to look at Agenta from above her knees with puffy red eyes. "I don't get it. All calculations were perfect. He wasn't supposed to die!"

"You didn't even try and assist the interns back there," Was all Agenta could say.

"What would you have me do? I trained them. They did nothing I wouldn't have done." Mal-Mal spat out in her defence.

Neither said anything as they watched their staff walk back and forth, some giving them pitying and saddened looks.

"What now," Agenta said with zero emotion.

"For the first time, I don't know," Mal-Mal replied in despair.

What were they supposed to do? They spent billions on this and recruited thousands of people across Terra. They waited years for this moment. But, unfortunately, the one supposed to bring it all together had died on them.

Mal-Mal decided to get up and walk away again, with no energy in her steps. Agenta didn't chase after her, only called out in subtle concern. "Mal? Where are you going."

Mal-Mal looks at her with hopeless eyes. "Do what I should have done long ago. Pray for answers."

Agenta was surprised. Mal-Mal was not the superstitious type but decided to leave her. She needed to think. The future was at stake. Everything they worked for could not be thrown out now.

Lord SilverAsh, The Chairman of the Karlan Commercial Co, sat in his study, going over plenty of possible trade deals. Rhodes Island was once at the top of that list, but the Resignation of the Doctor, which surprised those that knew of him, dropped Rhodes off that list.

Lady Kal'tsit of Rhodes Island had expressed interest in trade deals with his company and her pharmaceutical company. His darling sister, who currently calls herself Pramanix, suggested his company to Lady Kal'tsit. Only for him to shut Rhodes Island down. He was straining his already strained relationship with his sister.

SilverAsh could hear thunder outside but thought nothing of it. Another storm is nothing to them. The door to his office slammed open, causing the Chairman to glare at the panting man.

"Lord SilverAsh!, Lord SilverAsh!" Shouted a terrified servant of the SilverAsh family. A short Itra man with the features of a deer.

"Well?, If common courtesy has left you, then at least tell me why you have-" SilverAsh started but was rudely cut off by a shout from the panicking man.

"Catastrophe!"

SilverAsh's eyes widened. The disrespect from the family servant is forgotten as he shoots to his feet and dashes out of the room, The servant following behind. Finding his way through rushing servants and employees, he makes it outside.

The country of Kjera was currently in a state of panic. People were running for cover. Across the sky, dark clouds gave way to cracks of unusual silver-blue lightning bolts. The heavens flashed harder than any catastrophe. The once sunny, cloudless sky gave way to this. None could say they could not hear the noise or see it.

Soon only SilverAsh and the catatonic servant could be seen out in the open. Both stared to the heavens in entrapment.

"This is no Catastrophe!" SilerAsh proclaimed in horror as if he knew there was something worse.

"My lord?" The servant whimpered.

"She's angry? Why?" SilverAsh shouting over the cracks of lightning.

"M-My lord?"

"Our goddess, fool! Why is our goddess Kjarr angry?" SilverAsh shouts to the sky, not at his servant, as if he is expecting a verbal reply. But, instead, he was receiving cracks of thunder and lightning in response.

SilverAsh pulled out his phone and attempted to contact his sister Enya. She must be feeling their goddess's anger. Only for the phone to turn off, EMP? Power all around him had cut off. The only light source was their angry goddess in the sky.

Please be safe, Enya, Ensia. SilverAsh prayed.

"AH!" Came the scream of a beautiful woman currently restrained to a hospital bed in the Rhodes Island medical department.

"MAKE IT STOP, PLEASE!"

Kal'tsit barged into the medical department demanding answers.

"Pramanix?, What's going on here!?" Kal'tsit thundered. Amiya followed behind her with a look of concern.

"We aren't sure. Pramanix was found on the floor outside her room screaming and thrashing around." Came a strained voice of their medical specialist Silence. As Ansel, Ptilopsis and Saria attempted to restain and calm her down as they attached medical equipment to her thrashing, sweat-drenched body.

"AHHH" Pramanix screamed as tears poured down her face.

"Sister!!" Came the terrified voice of Cliffheart, who was being held back from reaching the screaming woman by Matterhorn and Courier. Both could only hold back their charge Lady Ensia as they watched their other charge Lady Enya scream. Tears on both their faces, never feeling so useless before.

"We've run tests. We have attempted to sedate her with no effect. We've given her as many painkillers as we dare! She's somehow resisting all of it. But there seems to be nothing medically wrong with her." Silence states defeated.

Before Kal'tsit could respond, she heard it. They all did.

*Little Silver Bell Tolls*

Before anyone could say or do anything, Pramanix's Token, a small Silver Bell that had been pried out of her grip when they carried her into the medical department. It started ringing and stopped just as quickly.

They all stopped and stared at the small Silver Bell that had been placed aside on an empty hospital bed. They all heard it. Pramanix had gone silent, blinking blankly at the ceiling.

Giving each other unsure looks, they heard it? Right?

Then in front of their eyes, The Little Silver Bell lifted off the bed a few inches and Gently started ringing.

*Little Silver Bell Tolls*

A beautiful sound, None knew a Bell could sound like that. Not even Kal'tsit in her many years. All of them were mesmerised by the supernatural encounter.

It only lasted a few moments, but once the bell had gone silent, Its silver-coated body flashed before everyone's eyes and vanished, and everything around them went dark.

Rhodes Island was parked next to Lungmen when the Little Silver Bell flashed and vanished. All power to both the Landship and Nomad City vanished. It would be days before power would be restored.

Back with Agenta, who was currently alone in the Morgue of their base, seated next to the almost naked deceased body of the man that was supposed to lead them as he presently lay on the examination table.

She sighed and stared for a few minutes, trying to find the right words. But, unfortunately, she only found plain words that came in short bursts.

"I'm sorry, Y/n."

"I never wanted this for you."

"Enough misery in this world, and now I added to it."

Agenta leaned in, kissed him on the forehead gently, and whispered, "I'm sorry." before covering him back up and walking out of the room. None would know that the cold Agenta had a tear rolling down her cheek.

She closed the large sealed morgue doors behind her, not looking back.

Back in the large Morgue, a single body lay in the centre, covered in a blanket for dignity. Only the soft humming of machines and drips of tap water could be heard.

Done!

Very fun to write! But also sad and nostalgic.

In my line of work, I deal with death a lot (No, I'm not an assassin). It's never easy to watch. Even harder to explain to a family over the phone that someone they love has passed.

Sorry to any that are eager for bloodshed and battle. That will come, but I'm writing this bit by bit. At one point, I was going to jump cut all over this and get to a battle over Lungmen or Chernobog, but I thought, no, let's go in-depth.

In future chapters, I'll explain how battles and fights will play out.

Thanks for the support!
