What Have We Done

Hey, Back to it

I have no clue how many chapters there will be. Quite a few, I reckon.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

A few hours after, the Doctor left Rhodes Island and before he Met Agenta on the side of the road.

~

*Knock, Knock*

"Dokutah, It's Amiya. Can I come in?"

*Knock, Knock*

"We are approaching Lungmen. Are you preparing?"

*Knock, Knock*

"Dokutah?"

*Silence.*

"I'm coming in, Dokutah."

The Door to Y/n's office opens, and Amiya steps through. She notices that the lights are off and Doctor Y/n is not in sight. Amiya turns on the office light and quickly scans the room, not seeing anything out of the ordinary.

Amiya is concerned. Her face scrunched in worry and mild panic as her mind came up with possible reasons for his whereabouts. He's always in his office this early in the morning! He should be here! Amiya thinks to herself.

Amiya quickly leaves the room and shuts the door behind her, Not noticing the Letter on the desk.

Through the halls of Rhodes Island, worried Amiya stops every early morning riser that crosses her path and asks them if they have seen the Doctor. Every response is the same, Confused looks followed by a shake of the head and a no.

Amiya bursts into the Cafeteria, catching the attention of dozens of staff and operators and looks frantically around for the silhouette of the Doctor but is unable to locate him.

"Amiya, what's wrong?" A concerned voice calls out.

The young Cautus leader of Rhodes Island pays little attention to the voice, still searching everyone with her eyes, hoping he is somehow in the room.

"Amiya!" The voice calls again, and a hand on her shoulder makes her jump and turn. Hoping it's who she's trying to locate.

"Dokutah?"

Only for Amiya to come face-to-face with Nearl.

"Nearl! have you seen the Dokutah this morning?" Her voice was straining.

"No, I'm sorry. I can't say I have. Why? has something happened?" Nearl gives her a worried look.

"I can't find him!" Amiya is close to a full-blown panic.

Everyone in the Cafeteria starts whispering to each other after Amiya speaks. Some operators around her don't look overly interested, while others are concerned.

Nearl looks at the panicking and distraught Leader; She knows Amiya cares for the Doctor. Many of them do. Herself included, but some people can't get over the past. Nearl knows she will help in any way she can. She is a knight of Kazimierz! She swore to be the Doctors shield.

"I will help you search, Amiya. On my honour." Nearl says in dedication before turning to the rest of the operators and calling out. "Listen up, everyone!"

All whispered conversations stop, and they turn their eyes to Nearl and Amiya again.

"Has anyone seen Doctor Y/n today or even yesterday?" Nearl calls out in a loud voice so all can hear.

The silence was their answer, making the Leader shake in worry and the Knight concerned.

"I-I saw him yesterday!" A voice yelps when all eyes turn to her.

"Jessica!" Amiya calls.

Due to all the attention, the Timid Blacksteel operative shuffles forward with red cheeks.

"I-I had to d-deliver some documents to him from Dr Kal'tsit in the early evening, and He was in his office as usual."

"What happened then, Jessica" Came Nearl's soft but stern tone.

"Eeep, I left." She yelps again, trying to make herself smaller to the intimidating Knights' presence.

"Good riddance", An angry voice called.

All eyes turned to Operator Blaze, who looked very annoyed.

"What was that, Operator Blaze?" So came Amiya's surprisingly cold and calm voice catching everyone by surprise.

Blaze scoffed. "He's the reason Ace and many others are dead! Now he's gotten lost... Let him stay lost."

Other operators started mumbling their agreement.

Certain people in the crowd, such as Closure, Ansel, Cardigan, Blue Poison and Shaw, look around them in disgust at people agreeing with such a thing.

"I suggest you keep your mouth shut, Operator Blaze, or I'll shut it for you," Nearls threatening voice cut across the mumbling crowd.

"That's rich coming from Doctors little kiss ass!, If you wanna fight, then let's go fight!" Blaze spat out with a challenging grin, stepping closer to Nearl.

Nearl tenses and glares at her fellow Operator, Hand rested on the hilt of her mace. Amiya seeing how everything is rapidly escalating, steps in front of Nearl.

Closure steps forward with a grim smile and, in between both aggressive Operators, she supports Amiya.

"Woah, Ladies, There will be no fighting. Kal will have a tantrum if you do."

"Why will I have a tantrum, Closure?" A dangerous voice behind Amiya and Nearl mutters, making Closure tense.

"Ah umm... shit, nothing, Kal! Hehe."

"That's what I thought. So what is troubling you? Amiya?" Kal'tsit moves forward into everyone's line of sight, holding a cup of coffee and looking at everyone in annoyance.

Warfarin followed after Kal'tsit and stood with her looking at everyone in amusement and boredom. A few operators were surprised to see Warfarin; she rarely leaves her dark place of research.

"I can't find the Dokutah!" Amiya sounded distressed.

Kal'tsit and Warfarin look at her with raised brows. Kal was going to punch Y/n when she saw him next for making Amiya this upset. She swore in irritation.

Warfarin doesn't want the Doctor to vanish. She enjoys his blood.

Kal'tsit had a bad feeling. Y/n had always made it very clear where he was at all times. She sipped her coffee in contemplation but decided to address all those present.

"I want everyone that's not on duty to search for him. Is that clear?" Kal'tsit looks around with a narrowed gaze challenging anyone to defy her; none did. Finally, Kal'tsit turns her attention to Nearl and Blaze. "Blaze...Nearl... I'll talk to you both later." Making the two Operators flinch.

Everyone got up and left to search for Doctor Y/n, some more reluctant than others.

Kal'tsit and Warfarin watch Amiya bolt away, with Nearl chasing after her.

"I have a bad feeling about this, Kal," Spoke Warfarin at her side.

Kal'tsit gives her a side glance and sighs.

"I'm going to head back to work, Kal. Let me know when you find him. He promised me some more blood samples." Warfarin walks off, Leaving Kal'tsit to her thoughts.

~

Kal'tsit is sitting In her large office behind her desk, a hot cup of coffee at her side, waiting for her. She is skimming through medical reports from the medical department. Her mind is unable to concentrate.

Its been 2 hours since Rhodes Island was awoken by Operators and staff searching high and low for Doctor Y/n with no luck. Everyone is now ripping the place apart, trying to find him with no success.

Operators throughout the morning were coming to the office and informing her that there was no sign of him, only for her to snap impatiently and demand they look again.

She was ready to leave for Lungmen, Amiya would follow soon after with her team, but she couldn't miss this meeting. It was too critical. The search would have to wait until after.

She was pulled out of her thoughts by her door sliding open and a pale, shaking Amiya shuffling towards her. Tears streamed down her face. Nearl came in after Amiya with a distraught expression.

"Amiya!, What happened?" Kal'tsit stood up abruptly and barked in worry, fearing the worst.

Amiya and Nearl stand in front of Kal'tsit before Amiya holds out her hand, holding a familiar letter.

"It was on his desk," Amiya sobs.

Kal'tsit takes the Letter from her, flipping it over to look at the front, only to freeze in shock.

'Resignation.'

She continues to stare at the Letter, knowing the implications.

Kal'tsit falls back down into her chair with little grace as if all energy has left her, and opens the Letter slowly.

Opening the Letter, she starts to read it and re-read it repeatedly. Unable to block out the sobs coming from Amiya.

Kal'tsit finally looks up from the Letter at a sobbing Amiya and a shocked Nearl, having never seen Kal'tsit crying. Then, finally, she finds her voice and speaks out quietly.

"What have we done."

And done!

I enjoyed this chapter for some reason.

Do not hate on Blaze. She just drew the short straw.

Kal'tsit is up in my top ten favourite Arknights Characters, so I want her to be a good character in the story.
