Like a gentle cool breeze, you had drifted into the room. With you, you had brought the summer's sun and all it's warmth. At least that was what it had felt like to Tobio. A kind smile had been on your face, the same face that had been present in all of his dreams. He used to not have dreams. The young boy had a crush on you since the first day of middle school.

"Well, hi there, (Y/n)," Oikawa had called out to you, waving his hand. Your attention had instantly locked on to him. Tobio had noticed it always did. He had realized rather quickly you had been promised to another. Oikawa had made it quite clear to the wannabe setter you had been his girlfriend. Tobio had seen the way Oikawa made you smile and made you laugh.

Yet another reason the young Tobio had admired his upperclassman; he had been able to have you, and had kept you by his side. Oikawa had been able to make you happy. The more he had thought about it, the more he wondered if admired had been the right word. Maybe he had been jealous instead.

"Hi, Oikawa," You had greeted him warmly, then glanced at Tobio. "Hi, Kageyama." When you had waved at him, Tobio had thought his heart stopped just for amoment. He had dropped the volleyball he had been holding and blood had rushed to his cheeks to coat them a bright red. His eyes had been wide and his mind unable to think of a proper response.

"H-Hello," Tobio had blurted out stiffly, reaching down to pick up the volleyball on the court floor. Regradless of his awkwardness, you had always still smiled at him. Your beauty had rattled him to his core from an early age. Years later, even as an adult, it still left him breathless.

There you stood in front of him after so long. You were both adults now and middle school felt like so long ago. Tobio had gone on to play volleyball professionally, and you, what had you been up to? He wondered. He still thought about you sometimes, whenever something reminded him of you. Sometimes he remembered little things you had said to him. Sometimes blurry images of you passed through him mind.Β

Though his memories were fogged with time, Tobio knew you looked different now. You were all grown up, but being with you still felt the same as it did when you were kids. Your eyes were just as bright, but wiser now. Your hair looked just as soft, but styled in a new way. The one thing that hadn't changed was the way you smiled. It was still perfect.

"Kageyama?" You asked in shock. You had hardly recognized the man, seeing as how he was a man. He was taller, broader, and he started parted his hair fringe down the middle. You thought he was adorable in middle school, but he was something else now.

"(Y-Y/n)?" Tobio was equally as surprised as you were. Seven billion people in the world, 126 million people in Japan, but the two of you ran into each other on Thursday at a fast food chain. The odds were low, you knew that much.

"Wow, it's been forever," You remarked obviously, a joyful grin breaking out across your face. "What are you doing these days?"

"Volleyball," He stated clearly and nervously. "I-I play professionally now." Tobio saw the excitement that sparkled in you when he told you that.

"That's fantastic!" You said happily. Tobio went on to clumsily ask what you had gotten up to in the years of his absence. You were glad to tell him, but something nagged at Tobio. A question burned in his mind.

"Are you and Oikawa still... " Tobio couldn't bring himself to finish asking the question. It wasn't difficult for you to guess what he meant, though. You gave him a sympathetic smile.

"No," You replied without a drop of bitterness. "We broke up after high school started." Tobio nodded, unsure what he ought to say in return. Should he try to console you? Say it was Oikawa's loss? Ask you out?

"Hey, why don't we catch up more?" You suggested. "I haven't gotten my food yet, maybe we can eat together?" Tobio, obviously, leapt at the opportunity, nodding his head enthusiastically. You smiled and went off to order your food, letting Tobio find a table given he already had his.

Tobio found a place to sit, anxiously waiting for you to return. You wanted to spend time with him, it left him a bit in awe. It was sureal. Was this even really happening? Perhaps this was one big dream. He felt an uncondtorable smile etch across his face. He knew it wasn't a date, but it felt like getting to live out a fantasy he's had for years. Maybe this was his chance. Maybe it was finally his turn to make you happy; his turn to take of you; his turn to love you.

"You still with me, Kageyama?" You asked playfully, noticing his vacant expression.

"I'm with you," Tobio quickly responded, his head snappig up to you. You smiled, sitting down across from him.

"Good," You said. "Now, where did we leave off?"
