Returning to Karasuno was intimidating at first. You thought taking a job as the girl's volleyball coach would bring back horrible memories of your less than perfect high school experience. Instead, you found joy in getting to help others fall in love with the sport, and helping those who were in love to win. The walls were so familiar, the gym felt like home, and the sound of shoes squeaking and balls hitting the floor put you at ease.

"Thank you for practice today, Coach (L/n)!" The girls told you with a smile. You waved goodbye, closing up the gym behind you. As you walked home, you passed gym designated to the boy's volleyball team. You usually did, but that night something was different. The first week you had been working, no one remained in that particular gym after dark. Tonight, someone was and you peaked inside. There a blond man stood, staring at the net with a volleyball in his hands. All of a sudden, he turned around and noticed you creeping. He had a confused expression, and then he smiled.

"(Y/n) (L/n)?" He asked, approaching the doorway. Once you could see him up close, you instantly recognized him. He was the boy you fell head over heels for all those years ago.

"Keishin! It's been ages!" You exclaimed, truly thrilled to see him again. "How have you been?"

"Pretty good, what are you doing here?" Keishin asked. It really did feel like so long since you had both seen each other. You never intended to lose contact with him, you two had been so close. He missed you.Β

"I coach the girl's volleyball team now," You told him enthusiastically.

"That's awesome," Keishin said with a smile. "I always envied your spikes, ya know." You chuckled, shaking your head. You and Keishin used to practice together, but he never mentioned anything about this. Keishin hardly complimented you back in the day, but something about those subtle glances during class or smiles in the hall made your teenage heart flutter. Keishin gestrued his head toward the court.

"I'll set for you," Keishin said.

"I don't know... " You hesitated, a nervous smile on your face. "It's been a long time since I've actually played."

"Come on, just one toss," Keishin urged, gently nudging your shoulder. "For old time's sake, (Y/n)." You sighed.

"Alright, fine. What've I got to lose?" You rehtorically asked. It felt like you were magically taken right back to high school. You stretched very lightly, getting ready to run up to the net. Keishin tossed the ball up; a practice shot. He looked back at you, a smirk on his face. You took off in a sprit toward him. He shot the ball into the air and you leapt up to meet it, sending it crashing down to the wooden floor.

"Damn, you still got it," Keishin remarked. "I thought you said you haven't played in a long time."

"I haven't," You told him defensively, a small heat rising to your cheeks. One toss turned into two. Two turned into three, three turned into four, and so on. It was hard to tell how long you had been playing, but it was fun. You had missed Keishin's company. But, this man was a little different then the Keishin you matured with. This Keishin was taller, more open, and he was a lot hotter as a full grown adult. You thought he was cute back in high school but now...

"I have to ask, though," Keishin spoke up. "What brings you back to town?"

"I don't know," You shrugged, tucking your hands into your pockets. "I guess I just needed a change of pace." Keishin hummed in understanding.

"Well, it's, uh... " Keishin paused, a little embrased to admit his feelings. "It's good to have you around again, (Y/n). I missed you." Those words were so rewarding to hear. You smiled.

"I missed you too," You confessed, playfully punching him. Your smile caught onto his face, his brown eyes sparkled like amber. Keishin chewed on his bottom lip for just a moment.

"I'd love to catch up," Keishin told you, nervously tucking a stray strand of his hair behind his ear. "How about I take you out to lunch tomorrow?"

"That would be great!" You nearly exclaimed in excitement before clearing your throat sheepishly. "I'll see you then." Keishin chuckled in relief. He was almost afraid you were going to say no.

"Perfect!" Keishin awkwardly clapsed his hands behind his back. "I'll be lookin' forward to it." You nodded your head, walking to the exit. You looked over your shoulder back at Keishin. He was staring at you, a goof grin beaming on his face. You quickly retreated back into the outdoors and onto your path home. No matter how hard you tried, you couldn't blot out the aura of cheerful joy that surrounded you. Not many get to go a date with their high school crush, so you considered yourself lucky.

You had convinced yourself you had gotten over Keishin in university. It was mostly true, you hadn't thought about him in a long time. Yet, somehow, laughing with him again brought back those old butterflies. Coming back toΒ Karasuno wasn't so bad after all.
