Your hands landed on your knees, your breaths coming out in quick pants. Crickets chirped, but the silence apart from that was soothing. The track field was your oasis in a dry deserted existence. It was the place you retreated to when the weight of the world pressed onto your shoulders. You thought it was just you tonight. If you were lucky, you would have company by pure coincidence.

You looked up, the shallow moonlight illuminating the field. That was when you saw her; Kiyoko. She stood on the outskirts of the field, a small smile on her face. Her smile was rare, but that only made it sweeter. You waved to her as she walked onto the running track.

"You look stressed," Kiyoko observed. You laughed bitterly.

"Yeah, well, that's probably because I am," You admitted.

"What's bothering you?" Kiyoko asked curiously. You sighed.

"Math homework," You grumbled, rising to stand up straight. "I just needed some fresh air." Most people could describe Kiyoko as aloof or stoic. She refrained from displaying a wide range of emotions. You thought it was charming. Regardless, you and Kiyoko have been friends long enough for you to be able to tell when something was bothering her, even if she didn't show it.

"Your turn," You told her.

"Hmm?" She hummed in confusion, tilting her head to the side. You nudged her arm gently.

"How come you're here?" You asked with a sympathetic smile. "This is our trouble spot." Kiyoko looked away, her Aegean blue eyes drifting to the ground. She had something on her mind, something serious. You knew it was something more important than math homework.

"Hey, you can talk to me, Kiyo," You told her kindly, reaching out to gently lay your hand on her shoulder. She sighed. This was something that bonded you together: sharing your problems with each other. You were always honest with each other, vulnerable even. You trusted one another. Yet, Kiyoko hesitated to voice what was on her mind tonight.

"What's bothering you?" You asked again.

"You," She stated calmly. You stepped back, a worried look. Had you done something to upset her? You thought you were close, had something happened? Kiyoko watched your expression drastically shift, she realized she should probably elaborate.

"For the past few weeks I haven't been able to stop thinking about you," Kiyoko paused, chewing the inside of her cheek. "I'd really like to kiss you." A bright pink hue covered her cheeks, dusting the tip of her nose. She was so beautiful when she blushed. Well, she was all of the time.

"Isn't that convenient," You said, a grin plastering your face. "Because I'd really like to kiss you too." She appeared almost shocked at your reaction. Had she really not expected it? Who wouldn't want to kiss her? Before Kiyoko could blink, she felt your soft lips against hers.
