Everything between the two had to be a competition. Each boy was determined to prove that he was superior, Hinata, and Kageyama only seemed to get along on the court. When it came to you, their teammate, it had to be a competition as well. Hinata and Kageyama both had a crush on you. And they were both determined to win your heart.

"Hey, (Y/n)!" Hinata greeted you with his bright smile.

"Good morning," You responded, smiling as well. You and Hinata walked together to school like you often did.

"I-I, uh, want to give you something!" Hinata told you, pausing in his steps. You looked at him confused, passing as well.

"What is it?" You asked, curiosity officially peaked. Hinata took out a small box and handed it to you. He also had some flowers in his hands. They looked like wildflowers, and the stems were broken, not cut. Hinata had picked them himself. You accepted both gifts, pleasantly surprised. You carefully opened the box he gave you, finding sweet candies inside. Your eyes widened and you grinned.

"Oh, thank you!" You said, giggling a little nervously. You weren't used to getting gifts for no reason, but it was very flattering. Hinata was very happy you enjoyed the gift, and you both arrived at school not too long after. You had to admit when Hinata would smile like that it did make your heart flutter.

Upon arriving at your desk in the classroom, you were perplexed. A folded piece of paper sat on your desk. You opened it, wondering if someone had placed it there by mistake. However, once you began to read that little note you were certain it was intended for you. The handwriting wasn't the neatest, but it was still legible and in some places, you could see where the author had written and then erased words or phrases. It was a love note.

"(Y/n),ย

I like you a lot. You always make me smile, even if you don't see. You're so talented and the way you receive is awesome. I also think you're really really handsome, and I want to hold your hand.

- Kags."

You smiled, a blush creeping onto your cheeks. Kageyama had never had an eloquent way with words, but it gave you butterflies to know he wrote that note. You refolded it and lucked it away so you could keep the letter.

You knew that Kageyama had feelings for you. You also knew that Hinata had feelings for you. You hated the idea of leading them on somehow, but you didn't know what to do. You liked both of the boys, but for differing reasons. They were so different, and you liked them both just the way they were. You were completely unaware of the fact that both boys knew of the other's pursuit. After practice, you started your walk home, bidding the others a good night.

"You did great today, (Y/n)," Hinata told you genuinely, coming to walk beside you. You smiled at him, thanking him for the compliment. Just then, Kageyama appeared behind the ginger and flicked the back of his head.

"Yeah, you did good, (Y/n)," Kageyama agreed. "Unlike this idiot."

"Hey! I did fine!" Hinata defended himself.

"You kept getting distracted!" Kageyama reminded him.

"It's not my fault!"ย  Hinata nearly exclaimed. "(Y/n) looks really nice today!"

"Stop it!" You scolded the two. "I hate it when you fight." Hinata and Kageyama sheepishly looked to their feet, muttering apologies. Making you upset was the last thing either of them wanted to do.

"We're sorry," Kageyama admitted. "It's just... we both really like you."

"I know," You sighed, fiddling with your thumbs a bit. "I'm sorry."

"You have nothing to apologize for," Hinata insisted. "Y-You don't have to give us an answer right now."

"Yeah, we don't want to pressure you," Kageyama told you honestly. "Take your time to make the decision you think is right." You nodded your head. How lucky were you? Extremely lucky. One of the few things that Kageyama and Hinata had in common was that they both cared about you more than themselves. Meaning, they were willing to wait for you. They were willing to wait as long as it would take. All each boy could do was just hoped that they'd win.
