Helpless. Weak. Destitute. All words that would describe the state you were in. Thanks to the accident you suffered, you were left with a broken bone. You struggled to go about your day-to-day life due to the cast plastered across one of your limbs. You were dependent. And you hated it. The last thing you desired was to be a burden; to cause those around you trouble.

"How are you feeling, sweetheart?" Sugawara compassionately asked.

"I'm fine," You told him with a sigh. You felt the young man rest his head atop yours, gently playing with your hair. Your boyfriend was the sweetest man on the planet, kind and understanding. He certainly lived up to the nicknaming "Mr. Refreshing," and you were so lucky to have him.

But, ever since your injury he had been waiting on you hand and foot. He was always checking up on you, always making sure everything you needed was within reach, and always offering to do everything for you so you wouldn't have to lift a finger. And it was driving you insane. You loved how thoughtful Sugawara was, but you didn't like being treated as if you were a child.

"Do you need anything?" Sugawara asked, a curious smile on his handsome face.

"I said I'm fine," You responded, almost harshly. You instantly regretted your tone, seeing Suga flinch.

"I'm sorry," You quickly told him, guilt weaving into your expression. "This past week has just been a lot."

"I know, I know," Suga kissed the top of your head. "I just hate seeing you in pain, and I don't want you to overexert yourself so you can get better soon."

"And I thank you for that, but," You paused, trying to find the right way to express what you mean, "I don't need to be babied."

"You are my baby," Sugawara teased with an innocent smile, then he sighed. "If you want space, I'll give it to you, but the last thing I want is for you to feel like you're alone." You kissed his cheek, making the young man chuckle. He decided to return the gesture and lay a kiss on your temple.

"I'll be with you every step of the way," Sugawara promised. "Whether it's at a distance or right beside you."

"I don't want to be a burden," You admitted, looking away from his kind brown eyes. This made him lean back, his brows furrowing in confusion. Did you really think you were a burden? Sugawara began to laugh.

"You are never a burden, (Y/n)," Sugawara told you confidently. "I can assure you of that."

"I just don't--" Sugawara cut you off with a swift kiss, wearing a smug smile when he pulled away. "I know it's--" Once again, your boyfriend didn't let you finish. His kisses were sweet like sugar, melting perfectly to give you butterflies.

"Never a burden."
