"Look at them," Sugawara quietly nudged Asahi.

"I can't believe this," Asahi said, observing what Suga was talking about. The two third-years chuckled to themselves. They lurked a bit, spying on their dear friend Daichi as he talked with you before the boys headed off to practice. From an outside perspective, it was easy for someone to mistake you and Daichi for two kids flirting with each other. You both smiled and laughed, enjoying each other's company as you so often did.

You and Daichi were very good friends and spent a decent amount of time together in and outside of school. You were close and it seemed others knew that. Alas, people often mistake a strong friendship for a strong romance instead. It was eye-roll worthy; people can and often are just great friends and nothing more. However, you wouldn't say that was the case for you and Daichi.

"I should probably head to practice," Daichi sighed.

"I can't decide whether to wish you luck or to tell you to have fun," You jested playfully and he laughed.

"Both, frankly," Daichi stated. "Stick around and I'll walk you home, okay?"

"Sounds like a plan," You smiled brightly before you went your separate ways. You saw this as an opportunity to get some studying done or maybe get a head start on your homework. Daichi, on the other hand, headed to volleyball practice. He greeted his friends and began to warm up. After a pretty intense practice session, a small smirk itched onto Sugawara's face and he approached the captain.

"So... How's (Y/n)?" He asked, a suggestive tone to his voice. Daichi rolled his eyes, knowing full well how his best friend viewed his relationship with you.

"She's good, why do you ask?" Daichi casually said.

"Just curious, saw you guys flirting in the hall earlier," Sugawara off-handedly explained and Daichi shook his head.

"I wasn't flirting with (Y/n)," The captain told his motherly friend.

"Who's (Y/n)?" Hinita asked, inserting himself into the conversation between his upper-classmen.

"Isn't she the third-year you're close with?" Nishinoya joined in out of curiosity.

"Oh yeah, they're super into each other," Tanaka remarked with a smirk to his best friend.

"You didn't tell us you had a girlfriend!" Hinita exclaimed, bouncing on the balls of his feet.

"(Y/n) is not my girlfriend!" Daichi clarified a bit irked at his teammates. They were so quick to take an idea and run with it until they disappeared.

"Yeah, but she should be," Suga insisted, completely seriously.

"He's right, man," Asahi aided Suga, cautions not to overstep his bounds. "You should just get together already." Daichi felt his cheeks flush a bit, but he shook his head again. He got his things and headed for the door, deciding he didn't have the energy to argue with his friends today. He also didn't have the time, after all, he promised he would walk you home. Speaking of...

Daichi was a bit surprised when you showed up at the gym to save him the convenience of finding you. You smiled, and that made Daichi smile too. He heard one of the boys wolf-whistled, and Daichi immediately turned around to give the whole lot a silent threat in the form of an intimidating glare. The thrid-years simply laughed, knowing he was only embarrassed, but the others were more frightened.

"What was that about?" You asked in confusion after you and Daichi started the walk.

"Oh, n-nothing," He stuttered, and that was what told you he was bluffing.

"No seriously, they looked like they were getting on your nerves more than usual today," You pressed, more seriously this time. Daichi sighed, hesitating to bring it up and potentially cause some awkwardness.

"The guys were just talking about how--" Daich laughed nervously, "How they think we're dating, or how we should be dating." You laughed too, not because the prospect of dating Daichi was laughable, but because you were flustered. Daichi scratched the back of his neck bashfully.

"Yeah, silly," He mumbled.

"I never said it was silly," You clarified. "I mean, do you think it's silly?" Daichi once again hesitated to tell the truth.

"No, I don't think it's silly," He stated honestly. "It's not silly at all, actually. I-I really wouldn't mind dating you."

"W-Wait, for real?" You asked in disbelief.

"(Y/n), I... I think I have feelings for you," Daichi finally admitted.

"Daichi, I've had on a crush on you for the past two years."
