I go to see Derek, only to find Cora working out in his loft. She does pull-ups then drops to the floor doing push-ups. I sense a lot of tension in the room. Derek tells her to stop because she is not done with healing. She refuses, saying she plans to go after the Alphas. Derek kicks her hand out from under her and she tumbles to the floor. I elbow him in the side and help her up. "Cora, I know how you feel but Derek is right. Your body might be healed on the outside but not on the inside."

"I can't believe I got my ass thrown in a vault for three months for you. All those rumors I heard. A powerful new Alpha, one of the Hales, was building a pack. Do you know how long I waited to hear something like that? Do you have any idea how it felt to find out you were alive?"

"I'm sorry to disappoint you."

Alarm sounds and Kali and Ennis show up. The five of us begin to fight. Ennis quickly subdues Cora and me. Kali gets Derek down and stabs him through the lower back with a steel pipe. A scream rips from my lips. I try to run and help him but Ennis has a tight grip on my arm. I twist my arm and I manage to get loose. I run toward Kali, again. I try to go for her neck but she knocks me to the side and I land by the entrance. I'm about to get but Deucalion enters and presses his cane on my spin. He doesn't press hard but he does apply enough for me to feel the pain of possible paralyzation. I keep my breathing under control and try to stay completely still. He begins explaining what he wants. Derek assumes he wants to kill him. Deucalion seems offended. "Do not throw me in with sociopaths like your uncle. I'm always on the lookout for new talent and I want you to join my pack."

"Peter is sane compared to you," I mumble." He presses his cane more into my back. I squeak and dig my claws into the floor. "Hush, my young Beta."

"You just want me to kill my Betas," Derek retorts.

Deucalion corrects him saying he only wants him to kill one and then he'll want to kill the rest. Deucalion explains how he accidentally discovered that killing one of his Betas allowed him to absorb their power. "Once I became blind, one of my Betas felt I was no longer able to lead so he tried to kill me and take control. I bested him, killed him, and found that I became faster and stronger because of it. Kali and Ennis have both killed their entire packs."

"It was liberating," Kali says.

"Your pack, a couple of maladjusted teenagers, are bound to become a liability," Deucalion says.

I growl at him. He glances down at me. "Is this the one and only Scarlett McCall? I knew I recognized the scent. The girl who isn't affected by wolfsbane and can feel the danger around her. Why are you here and not with your twin brother? Speaking of twins..." Deucalion looks back at Derek. "One of your Betas is getting in trouble."

Deucalion pushes hard into my back, warning me not to move. He walks over to Derek and touches his face. He says that Kali was right, he looks like his mother. Derek, steel pipe still embedded in his chest, says Deucalion is a fanatic. The leader of the Alphas explains, "You have never seen anything like me before." He then launches into a speech accompanied by lightning and thunder from an approaching storm. "I am the Alpha of Alphas. I am the Apex of Apex Predators! I am Death, Destroyer of Worlds! I am the Demon-Wolf!"

On the last line, his voice rises in volume to the point that his dark glasses crack. Kali removes the pipe and Derek collapses on the floor. He releases me from his cane. Cora and I run to him. Cora gets a white cloth and we put pressure on the wound. I get a text from Scott and I have to meet him at school. I go to the locker room and walk in on their conversation. "And why are you talking like he's already dead?" Scott asks, hugging me and putting his sporting pads in his locker.

"He's just missing," Stiles replies. "Missing and presumed dead because he's probably a virgin, Scott. And you know who else is a virgin?"

"Not me," I say. "Scott?"

"Nope," Scott replies.

We exchange looks then we both look to Stiles. He looks even more annoyed. "Me. I'm a virgin, okay? And you know what that means? It means that my lack of sexual experience is now literally a threat to my life. Okay, I need to have sex, like, right now. Someone needs to have sex with me, like, today. Like, someone needs to sex me right now!"

I raise an eyebrow at my best friend, who has lost his mind. Danny closes his locker and says, "All right, I'll do it."

"What?"

"Come to my place at 9:00. Plan to stay the night. I like to cuddle."

"Oh. That was so sweet. Are you kidding?"

"Yes, I'm kidding."

He walks off laughing. Stiles only rolls his eyes. "Okay, you know, you don't toy with a guy's emotions like that, Danny."

"Yeah, it's very unattractive," I add, joking.

I leave to change clothes. As I'm walking down the hall, I find Scott and Isaac walking through the hallway when we're confronted by the Alpha twins, who strip down and merge into one large Alpha. I look up and suck my teeth. "Aiden! Ethan! Really!?"

"We can take them," Isaac says.

"No, we can't! Come on!" Scott yells.

We run from the giant but he easily catches us and tosses us down the hallway. Deucalion enters and the boys break apart and look shame-faced. He then removes the cap from his cane revealing a small knife in the handle. He sweeps it quickly at the twins cutting both on the cheek in one swipe. I sit with Scott doing homework when there's a knock at the door. I smell Isaac so I rush down the stairs. He in tears and shivering. I pull him into a hug. I pull him down to where I can kiss the top of his head, letting know he could tell me anything. I sit him down on my couch and throw a towel over his shoulders. I sit next to him, bringing my legs up next to me. "Isaac, what happened?"

He sniffs. "Derek put me out the loft. He threw a glass at me and it reminded me of...."

"Of your father."

I put a hand on his arm. "I'm sorry that had to happen. Derek doesn't know what he did was wrong. You should ask my mom if you could stay here but I'm gonna go talk to Derek."

I grab one of Scott's black sweatshirts and head out to the loft. I find him standing in front of the windows. He smiles at me but disappeared when he sees I'm not in the mood for a joke. When he tries to hug me, I pushed him away. "Do you know what you did to Isaac? He is shaken like a chihuahua because of you losing your temper."

"I kicked him out to protect him. That Alpha will be back."
