Party Guessed

"So, that's it? We're gonna give up?" I ask.

Derek and Scott have come to the conclusion that there is no possible way to save Jackson. "Scar, we can't save him and it seems impossible to kill him."

"He gets stronger every full moon," Derek adds.

"So, let the Argents handle this. They seem to have more luck than us," I suggest.

"I turned him, without thinking of the consequences, so I have to kill him myself."

I look at Derek. "You want to kill him but you're giving up?"

"What else can we do?"

"Scarlett, maybe you can kill him," Scott says.

"What?"

"The venom doesn't take effect on you You're strong. Maybe you can take him down."

"Scott, even if I do, I'm still killing Jackson."

I walk out and make my way to Stiles' house. Before I do that, I go by Allison's. Lydia is already there, showing different outfits for her party. I sit on her bed. "So, what is the birthday princess wearing to her 'magnificent ball'?"

They both laugh. "Well, that's why I'm here. I have so many choose. I even picked two for you guys."

I just smile. Typical Lydia. Allison's mom knocks. Her face is pale and covered in sweat. She is having obvious trouble walking. "Allison, I need to talk to you.

Allison acts annoyed. "It will have to wait."

I glare up at her and we exchange looks. I just shake my head slightly. Victoria turns to leave but looks back wistfully at us trying on clothes with a slight smile. Then, disappointed, she staggers away. I sigh and get up. "Where are you going?" Allison asks.

"Um, I actually just came by for only a second. I'm gonna head out to Stiles' but I'm going to use the bathroom first."

She just nods. I go downstairs to where Chris and his wife are. As soon as I walk in, Chris stands up and throws a knife my way. I step out the way and it lands in the wall. "What the hell?"

I growl and feel my fangs press against my lips, my eyes glowing. He reaches in his boots and pulls out two more metal blades. I charge for him and grab one of his hands. I twist it back but he tosses me over his shoulder. I stick my landing to the floor. "Please stop!" Victoria exclaims.

I stand and Chris slowly sets down his knives. "What is the matter with you? I just came to see if you're okay."

She doesn't give me a direct answer. "Your friend will pay for what he has done."

I look and see she doesn't plan living through the transformation. "Don't, Victoria," I say. "You need to stay for Allison."

Chris shakes her head. "It's our code."

I squint. "Cazamos los que nos buscan."

"Exactly."

"You're going to take your life for a dumb code and over your own daughter?" I ask, almost in tears. "And I thought Derek was the monster."

As I'm about to walk out, Chris steps in front of me. I think he's about to attack but he presses something cold in my hand. "Unfortunately, I can never think of you as any less than my daughter. But I want you to have this."

I open my hand and it's a specially made silver bullet. "What is this for?"

"That night Derek Hale became an Alpha, Kate's gun was down to only one bullet. That's the same bullet that she almost used to kill you. I believe you should hold on to it so you can remember the day someone you thought loved you and cared about you took your life."

I hold in in my fist and press it to my heart. "Chris, why would you give this to me? Why would you want me to remember the day your sister almost put me down in front of my own brother?"

"My point is you need to watch out for people like Derek. He isn't as great as you think he is."

"I know that."

"No, I mean, he will not hesitate to sacrifice you to save his own ass. I might not like what you've become but I also can't see you die."

I nod and hurry out. I stand on the sidewalk, twirling the bullet between my fingers. Can one bite really change a life like it has changed mine? People that started off as my friends are now my enemies. I've been lied to, broken and taken advantage of. I try to push all those thoughts out my head as I make my way over to Stiles. I go up to his room and find him flipping through some books. "Stiles, what are you doing?"

"Looking at Beacon Hills High school yearbook from 2006."

I pull up a chair next to him. Several of the pictures of students have red X's through them. His father comes in and we discuss the case. The Sheriff says they brought Harris in for questioning. They are going to arrest him because there is evidence that his car, was present at several of the crime scenes. There were matching tire tracks at the trailer in the woods and it was seen outside the hospital the night the young mother was killed. Stiles, of course, isn't convinced. To be honest, neither am I. "Kara Simmons wasn't in Harris' class."

"And Isaac's father fits in nowhere," I point out.

Stiles dad then notices a picture of the swim team in the open yearbook. "All of the victims were members of the swim team and Isaac's dad was the coach."

I look over the victim list and look at the picture. It did add up. "I'll go tell Scott," Stiles volunteers.

I nod. "I'll go with you."

We make our way to to Lydia's party. When I walk in, I notice drag queens walking around. "Stiles."

"Yeah?"

"You wouldn't have anything to do with the drag queens walking around, would you?"

He laughs. "Of course not."

I roll my eyes. He grabs a cup of punch and we go to look for Scott. We're all together, Stiles presses Scott to apologize to Allison. "Are you going to apologize to Allison or what?"

"Why should I apologize?"

"Because you're the guy. It's like what we do."

Scott looks at me and I can only shrug. "Well, he's not wrong."

"I haven't done anything wrong..."

"Then you should definitely apologize," Stiles and I reply.

"See, whenever a guy thinks he hasn't done anything wrong, it means he's definitely done something wrong," Stiles explains.

I go out front and stand by myself for a little while. When I go back inside to get some punch, I find little petals floating in the bowl. I use the spoon to pick up one. The petal is purple and I automatically know what it is. I drop my cup on the floor. Wolfsbane. I run, looking for Lydia. She's still handing out punch like it's nothing. "Lydia!"

She turns. "Hey, when did you get here?"

"Did you put wolfsbane in the punch?"

She shakes her head. "I have no idea what you're talking about."

I hold out the petal. "There's wolfsbane in that drink. Has my brother had any?"

She nods. "Yeah, a couple. What's wrong?"

"I need to find him, ASAP."

I try to find him by his scent but I can't. All I can really smell is cheap perfume, puke and many other weird/disgusting smells. I find Stiles by the pool. He's frozen and staring off into another world. I touch his shoulder and the scenery changes:

I hear Sheriff Stilinski shouting that he's just come from a funeral. He starts yelling at the party guests. He is gesticulating wildly with an open bottle of brown liquor. He turns on Stiles and blames him for his mother's death. Relating how the whole time Stiles' mother was dying in the hospital he was dreading having to raise Stiles on his own. He says his son is a hyperactive little bastard that keeps ruining his life. He then points a finger at Stiles and says, 'You killed your mother. You killed her and now you're killing me.'

The sheriff then throws the liquor bottle at Stiles, who ducks.

I snap back and everything is back to the way it was. I look at Stiles and he is still frozen. I grab both his shoulders. "Stiles, you're hallucinating. Snap out of it."

He looks at me like I'm a stranger. I shake my head. I grab him by the shirt and throw him in the pool. He goes under but he comes back up, confused. Everyone starts cheering and laughing at him. I see he's getting humiliated so I jump in too. I swim to the top and wrap my arms around his neck. "Scar, what are you doing?"

"Waking you up."

I go under and swim out. I hold out my hand and pull Stiles out. "How do you feel?"

"Well, you just threw me in a pool. I might have to revisit my policy on hitting a girl."

I'm hand him a huge towel. "Yup, you're sober."

He smiles. "Thanks."

I nod. I dry myself and remember my situation at hand. "I need to find Scott. I don't know how, but there was wolfsbane in that punch everyone is drinking."

I go upstairs and I find Scott in the doorway of a room. I hesitate to touch his shoulder. I slowly place my hand on him and the scenery changes again:

I see Jackson and Allison making out on the window seat above. I then see the kanima and Allison making out. Scott begins to wolf out.

Then the hallucination is gone and he is back to normal. "Scar?"

I sigh and just wrap my arms around his neck. "Jesus, Scott."

We go downstairs. I see some people run and jump in the pool. I hear someone begging not to be thrown into the water. A man shouts that he can't swim but two party-goers throw him in anyway as me, Stiles and Scott watch. He bobs up and down a bit before sinking below the surface. I sigh and go in for him. Matt. "Matt, are you okay?"

He just stares at me. "Is the one and only Scarlett McCall is saving me?"

I can't help but laugh. I pull him out and get a towel, putting it over his shoulders. He is angry and gives his best 'I'm gonna kill you' look to Scott and Stiles before he drips away. I hurry after him. "Matt! Are you sure you're okay?"

He grits his teeth. "I'm tired of being pushed around. No one seems to care about me.*

"I care. Do you think I went in that pool for the second time for my own health? Matt, no matter what, you're my friend. Stop!"

He stops walking and turns to me. "I know but you don't cover for everyone else." He grabs my neck and presses me against a wall. He takes me by my wrist and twist it. I bite my lip, doing my best not to cry out. "You find a way to endure pain and still have room to share passion," he whispers against my lips.

I feel his warm lips brush across my lips then finally kiss me softly. I'm so shocked. He releases me and walks away. The cops show up and everyone bolts from the party. Outside, while the guests run from the cops, me and Scott see Matt, who is still dripping wet, standing with the kanima at his feet. He then seems to simply vanish from the spot. I look at Scott and he just shakes his head.

That night, after I make sure Scott gets to bed, I sit up and wrap my wrist with bandages I got from my mom. I go into the basement and drill a hole through the bullet Chris gave to me. I then put a chain through it and hang it around my neck. As I'm walking outside, I glance out the window and look up at the night sky, at the brightest star out there. "She might be dead, Talia, and she might have tried to kill me, but I pray she rests in peace."
