all of a sudden she finally understood.

what she didn't understand is
why they kept trying to find the answer
to their questions
in her

maybe everyone knew what they wanted
except for them
as if they kept looking everywhere else
for an answer
when all along they should've just looked up

after she wasn't a part of the story to begin with
she was just the common thread
she wasn't even part of their worlds

she was a separate being that lived somewhere else
and they lived in the same world
so what she didn't understand was why
they kept trying to make her the answer

why they wanted it to be her
when it could just be them

after all it would be kind of perfect, no?
what they wanted would coexist together
it would be a well oiled machine
that night he told both of them
what they meant to him
