Gonna Wind Up Dead

Eddie'S POV

"I'll get you some water and tissues, wait here." Y/n said, giving him a kiss on the cheek before getting up to go to the kitchen. The last week he'd been having nose bleeds, headaches and terrible nightmares that felt so real. It was always the same one. As a young child he got bullied, sometimes he still did but no where near as bad. When he was around twelve years old, his bullies followed him home and jumped him near a lake or pond. Knowing Eddie, of course he said something to offend them. Next thing he knew, he was dragged down to the water, his head repeatedly dunked down. Sometimes he could remember like it was just yesterday. The burning feeling in his throat and nose, the salty taste that lingered in his mouth for days after. If it wasn't for his uncle, he may not have been here today, sitting in his room waiting for the most amazing girl to get back.

It had been quite a while and she still hadn't returned. Plus it was awfully quiet so he decided to check up on her. Entering the kitchen, no one was there but the front door was open. His jaw dropped the second he stepped outside and his heart began to race. This wasn't possible, how was the lake right by his trailer

End of his POV

"Sorry I took so long, I was searching for the musketeer bar for you." She apologised, holding the bar up victoriously while walking back into his room. When she entered he had his back turned to her, facing his guitar, "Eddie I told you to lay down." There was no answer which concerned her. Rushing over to him, she tapped his shoulder and stood in front of him. Everything in her hands dropped to the floor, including the glass cup that was now shattered everywhere. His eyes were rolled up to the back of his head, this couldn't have been a joke. He'd never do this to her.

"Eddie wake up, please Eddie, wake up!" She cried, tears spilling down her face, shaking his shoulders violently. Suddenly his body began to float, causing Y/n to stumble back in terror. Slowly his bones started to snap which was it for her. Grabbing his car keys on the way out she sprinted out the trailer and hurried to his van, oblivious of the girl watching with curiosity across the road.

A Day Later

"I didn't know what to do so, I-I ran and left him there." She struggled to tell them, her voice cracking. Hesitantly, she looked over to Dustin who was now hugging Steve with tears in his eyes. "I'm so so sorry Dustin, I'm so sorry." She looked back down at the ground, nothing  could stop the aching pain in her heart and nothing could fill the emptiness she felt.

"Y/n." Dustin said, walking over to her. He engulfed her in a hug, crying into her shoulder.

Present

Everybody was crammed into the caravan, were they really prepared for battle? Not all of them would survive, that much was certain. Maybe none of them would, they'd all have to wait and see. Dustin and Y/n's job was to get the bats attention and distract them for a couple minutes whilst the others carried out their job. After that they would then retreat back to the normal world and wait for everyone else. It was risky, but one worth taking, for Eddie. Y/n was doing all this for him, to avenge the man she loved. He was taken too soon and unfairly. Firstly they dropped Max, Lucas and Erica off at Henry's old house where Vecna would be. There, Max would keep him busy for the rest of the plan.

Dustin and Y/n would have to set up defences around Eddie's trailer and then blast some music, preferably one of Eddie's favourite songs. They were going for Master of Puppets which was quite new and a song Eddie loved. This would leave Vecna vulnerable for Robin, Steve and Nancy to kill that bitch.

"Alright I'm gonna go over the plan once more." Nancy stated, but Y/n was too deep in her thoughts to pay attention. She already knew it though so she'd be fine. All that was running through her mind was Eddie, how much she missed him. Who knows after this maybe she'd see him again, sooner than she thought. "Nobody moves onto the next phase till everyone has done theirs, you understand?" Everybody hummed in agreement, getting up and moving out of the caravan. Hurrying inside his trailer, the memories washed over her, and Dustin noticed. She stopped for a second, her head beginning to spin. They all halted, checking up on her but she just brushed it off telling them to get back to the plan.

One by one they climbed up the rope into the upside down, helping each other up with all the gear. Once everyone was down they walked outside, Steve reminding them one more time about the plan.

"Don't try to be the heroes, ok?"

"Don't worry Steve, we got this." Y/n assured him, placing her hand on Dustin beside hers shoulder. After saying good luck and their goodbyes, the three went off on their own mission. Immediately, the leftover two got to work, picking up all the metal sheets and wires, they were set on blocking all windows and entrances to the trailer. A bit later the defences were all set up and now had to get the speakers ready. Jumping onto the car, they lifted themselves onto the roof, setting up the first two speakers up top. Now they had to set up a couple around the area to make sure they'd definitely hear it.

"Remember, watch out for the vines Y/n, it's all a hive mind." Dustin explained again to ensure she understood. Nodding her head, she picked up one of the heavy speakers and lugged it near Max's house, plugging one of the cords in it before grabbing it and walking backwards towards the trailer making sure there were no knots. She was halfway back when a voice was heard in the distance.

"Y/n." She paused, scanning the place around her. There was no one in sight and Dustin was all the way in the other side of the trailer. Brushing it off, she continued back meeting up with him again.

"Alright, let's get this show on the road." Dustin yelled as they both went back up, plugging the last cords in. With a click of a button it began to play, he turned the volume up, holding his binoculars up to look for any sign of them. It only took a few seconds till Dustin spotted the swarm of demobats. When they were close enough, the two sprinted to the side of the trailer, hopping down and racing into the safety of their defences.

They were back to back, checking for any sign of the bats and if they could get in. That's when Y/n remembered Eddie had air vents that they didn't recall covering. It was too late though when they ran into his bedroom some of the bats entered. Now they had to fight them off before escaping.

Y/n managed to close the door, shuffling backwards with Dustin directly behind her.

"I think it's time we ditch." He said, Y/n agreeing with him. He dropped everything, grabbing onto the rope while pulling himself up. It was her turn after he safely made it down. She was about to start climbing when she heard someone call her name again.

"Y/n." She looked over her shoulder frantically, searching for the source. Still, there was no one in sight, what was going on? That's when something hiding in the shadows finally showed themselves. They walked towards her, the sound of their footsteps causing her to spin around in fear.

"Dustin!?" She yelled, letting go of the rope. "But you were just up th-" looking up through the hole, nobody was up there. How did he get down? Vecna was definitely playing with her mind but he was focused on getting Max so why would he be here now? Behind her more footsteps were made.

"It's time, for you to join me Y/n." Vecna said, his deep voice echoing all around her. "This will all be over soon."

She panicked looking at Dustin behind her. "Help me Dustin! Please Dustin!" She screamed in hopes the real one heard her. Although the chances were low given his previous victims. That's probably what they all did, call for help from their loved ones and no one ended up saving them. The fear that they would've felt all alone with this monster just before he killed them.

"This is all your fault, you didn't do anything to save him." Dustin finally spoke, the words stabbing her right in the heart. "Because of you I lost my best friend, I wish it was you instead of him."

"You're not really him!"

"Does it matter Y/n, you still didn't save him." Quickly looking over her shoulder, Vecna wasn't there anymore, but was right where Dustin originally stood. Without a second to hesitate, she sprinted for the door, opening it and running outside. Everywhere was dark and filled with mist but that didn't stop her. She ran anywhere, anywhere that meant getting away from him. Stumbling over sticks and rocks, she didn't look back, her main focus was to get the hell out of here. How? She didn't know.

Stopping for a second in her tracks, she could hear something, not someone following her or anything like that. It was coming from every direction. As it got louder she realised what it was. Her favourite song!

"Took long enough you son of a bitch!" Y/n sighed in relief, laughing as she looked around for the exit. There in the far distance an opening began showing. She could hear Dustin shouting for her whilst shaking her shoulders. Not wasting anymore time she began to run again like her life depended on it, which quite literally did.

It was right there, the exit to this hell hole, she was going to make it. Just when she thought all was going to be fine, something or someone stepped out from the mist behind her.

"Y/n! It's me, Y/n it's me!" They called out, instantly stopping her. She could recognise that voice without mistake. Hesitantly turning around, most of the fog had blown away, revealing their face.

"Eddie?" She asked, almost choking on the lump in her throat. This couldn't be real, this wasn't real. Even though the past few days things that were thought impossible happened, one thing was for sure. He was gone. It took all of her strength not to run into his arms. How much she missed his warm embrace and comforting presence was too much for her to handle.

"No. You aren't."

"I am Y/n, I swear I am, please I've been so scared, You left me but you're here now." He replied, trying to take a step towards her. He frowned when she backed up. "Please, Y/n." The pain in his voice broke her. Behind her Dustin was still calling her name, tears in his eyes. Even if it was Eddie, staying here would mean her dying. She would be with him again, but she couldn't leave Dustin here alone. He'd been through too much and he was so young, they all were. This was all just so unfair. Everything was overwhelming, whether or not it was Vecna, walking away would be just as painful seeing his face.

Taking a few steps backwards, she turned back around to the way out.

"You're not gonna leave me again are you?" He questioned, his voice cracking.

"Gotta get you outta my head." She said, covering her hears to block his voice out. "Or I'm gonna wind up dead."

I'll probably make a part 2 at some point since I obviously can't leave it on a cliffhanger like this 😭
