The Other Woman Pt2

*She kept watching as he gently grabbed her hand, giving it a kiss before walking her to the door. Y/n wanted nothing more then to drop down onto her knees and cry. She had liked him so much for so long and when she finally thought it could become more she was proven wrong.

Why was she even trying, all she'd ever be was the other woman.*

So this was how it felt to be stood up, to be forgotten. How was she so stupid to think they would ever be more than friends. He was obviously wrapped around Chrissy's fingers like everyone else. Why did he have to be? Why couldn't he be the one who wasn't.

They continued to chat by her door before she gave him a kiss on the cheek which caught him by surprise. Afterwards she said goodbye and walked inside leaving the boy in a nervous mess and Y/n in anger. She wanted nothing more than to storm up to him and slap him on the face. So instead of remembering the kiss on his cheek he'll remember the red mark that was left upon being slapped. It's what he deserved after hurting her like that.

It sucked, because she really liked him and she really thought he was different. She had wasted over seven years crushing on just another jerk at her school.

When he went to his van he spotted her watching from across the road, causing her to jolt her head the opposite way to ensure he didn't recognise who it was. He soon brushed it off, thinking it was just stranger going out for a stroll.

She then began walking back towards her house, hands in her pocket and tears in her eyes. The second Y/n got home, she ran upstairs past her parents so they wouldn't notice that she was upset. Right now she wanted to be alone, away from everyone else.

Once she was in her room alone after her shower, she climbed into bed, cuddling into a pillow. The tears began to spill again, thinking back to when she saw him climb out his van with Chrissy.

What was so good about her? She didn't even try whereas Y/n tried her hardest to look her best, and act the way he'd like. Yet he only ever noticed her as a friend. Chrissy barely payed any attention to Eddie, only when they did deals or when they were alone. But at school it was like she didn't know he existed. If that's what he wanted to be treated like then maybe he wasn't worth it anyway.

——

It was the next day, Y/n had barely gotten any sleep so she had bags under her eyes. Today was the first day she showed up without make up or thoroughly picked outfits in forever. There was no point in attempting to impress him anymore if it wouldn't work. He'd be too busy gawking at Chrissy to even glance at her.

Not like she wanted him to after yesterday. She was too embarrassed and pissed off to even look his direction or breath his air. Her plan was just to avoid him until they forgot about it. And if he never forgot then she would avoid him for the rest of their lives. Not like he would care anyways.

"Good morning sweetheart." Speaking of the devil, he just had to talk to her first thing. When she didn't answer him, he immediately grew worried. "Is everything alright?"

"I don't know Eddie, you tell me." She snapped, grabbing her books before slamming her locker shut and walking off the opposite direction.

He stayed by the locker, puzzled at her sudden saltiness towards him. Usually her face would light up when he approached her and she would always go out of her way to talk to him. Now she was walking off when he tried to talk to her. It didn't make sense.

——

It had been a few weeks since she had been 'stood up' by Eddie. At first it was hard to ignore him since he would always ask her what's wrong but eventually he gave up knowing that there was no point.

Y/n had tried to completely forget about him so she could move on. She wanted to be happy for him and Chrissy even though it broke her heart. She had been led on and played by him which made it hard for her to give Jason a chance when he started to take an interest in her. Especially since he had gotten out of a relationship with Chrissy a few months ago. It's like she could never properly escape that girl.

Although it may have been the perfect way to get over Eddie and maybe even piss him off. The two guys never got along, they always picked on each other. And when Jason found out Chrissy had been hanging around Eddie he was furious.

"C'mon Y/n, just one date?" He begged, leaning against her locker. For the past couple days he had repeatedly pleaded for her to go out with him, only becoming more determined when she would say no. He would tell her to 'stop playing hard to get'. But really she just didn't want to, until today, at this very moment.

Even if the love she had for Eddie was unrequited, she was still his friend and he cared about her. So if she started dating Jason, Eddie would get worried and pissed. In a way she would still be hurting him like he hurt her. That was her plan.

"Fine."

"Great, meet me outside after school." A smirk spread onto his face, he had finally gotten through to her.

"Ok, can't wait." She gave him a tight lipped smile before walking off to her next class. Just as she hoped, Eddie witnessed her whole conversation with Jason. What was that asshole doing anywhere near Y/n? "Can I help you?"

"What did he want?" Eddie questioned, walking up to her before she passed him.

"Nothing."

"This isn't a joke Y/n, what was the dick head asking you." Anger was laced in his tone and she could tell he was being serious. She just scoffed at him suddenly being so protective of her. What happened to that when he never showed up?

"A date."

"What did he say when you rejected him?"

"Funny thing is I didn't." She replied, smiling at him when his jaw clenched. Whatever this feeling was, she loved it. Every second of it.

"Y/n he's only going to hurt you, he's no good."

"You don't know that, you're only saying that cause you two don't get along."

"I do know that, he did the exact same to Chrissy."

The second Chrissy's name came out of Eddie's mouth, Y/n stopped in her place. There it was, she wondered how it took this long for him to mention her or to become distracted because of Chrissy. And for a minute she thought he genuinely cared about her.

"For god sakes Eddie!" Y/n blurted out, throwing her hands up in the air. Luckily for them most people had already left for class. "It's always Chrissy this, Chrissy that! Can you just leave me the fuck alone!"

His expressions softened when he realised why she was so upset. He didn't mean to bring Chrissy up, he just thought it was the best way to convince Y/n to stay away from Jason. The only thing he wanted was to look out for her.

"Y/n I just don't want him to hurt you."

"Him! Hurt me?! You're the only one hurting me!" She retorted, pointing her finger at his chest, tears filling up in her eyes. "Where were you on that night? I waited hours for you and you never showed, only to find out you were with Chrissy!"

"Y/n-"

"No! Fuck you!"

"Y/n, please, I was doing a deal with her, she wanted something stronger so we went back to my place and I lost track of time." He tried to explain himself but she just kept shaking her head. If that was the case why didn't he tell her, why didn't he make sure she knew it wasn't because he didn't care.

"Bullshit!"

"It's not, I forgot, I'm sorry."

"Eddie we've been friends for years, and I've liked you for most of them, and that's your best excuse?" She was frustrated with him, she didn't mean to admit her feelings for him it just slipped. "Forget it, here you go."

She looked down at her hand, slipping his ring off her finger, handing it back to him."What?"

"Leave me alone." She cried, turning away from him so she could leave. Eddie had other plans though. He grabbed her arm, tugging her back towards him right into his warm embrace. "Eddie let me go."

"No." He wrapped his arms around her, resting his chin on her head. "Not until I make it up to you."

"It's too late, I'm going on that date with Jason today." She spoke into his chest, giving up on trying to escape his hug. Not that she wanted to in the first place. "You can have fun with Chrissy, I'm not being just 'the other woman'."

"No, you're going on a date with me, no Chrissy, no nothing, just you sweetheart, ok?" Y/n sighed in defeat, agreeing to his plan which he then released her from the hug. "And what the hell do you mean the other woman?"

"Me being the second option."

"Trust me." He started, reaching for her hand so he could put the ring back onto her finger. "you are not the other woman."
