How Deep is Your Love

The bright lights and flashes from the paparazzi's cameras were enough to blind her. If Y/n didn't shield her eyes with her free hand, there's no doubt that it would. Even after nearly a year of dealing with it, she still wasn't quite used to them.

People attempted to push past each other to get closer. Yes, lots of them wanted to ask her questions but it wasn't just her. If anything, most of them wanted the attention of the person she was following closely behind.

"Eddie! What happened with you and Veronica?" Someone yelled, shoving the massive camera into his face. He held his free arm up, trying to keep the paparazzi away although it wasn't really doing much. Some people just didn't know that personal space existed. "Is it true that she cheated? Or just used you for fame?"

The couple continued to ignore everyone. Their goal was to reach the car as soon as possible and as safely as possible. Who knows what paparazzi were capable of.

"Aren't you afraid Y/n's using you for fame? She was nothing before you." A man shouted over the top of other interviewers. The second Eddie heard the man, anger rushed through him. He hated when people talked about Y/n. Especially since they didn't know her like he did.

He knew that what they said wasn't true because she was nothing like other girls he had been with. When they first met, she didn't even have the faintest clue who he was. It was refreshing.

Obviously he wanted his partner to be interested in what he did, and to completely support him. But that didn't mean they had to have been a fan. Like Y/n. She wasn't a fan but that wasn't to say she didn't love his career.

It was perfect, since she had fallen for him before being exposed to all the fame, news and paparazzi. And even after she was, nothing changed about her. She was still the same Y/n he had fallen in love with nearly a year ago.

"Don't you have better things to do in your life?" Eddie spat, coming to a halt before turning around to face the man who dared to say Y/n's name.

"Eddie, it's fine, I just wanna go home." Y/n interjected, giving his hand a tight squeeze to show she was fine. The last thing she wanted was a fight, it had been a long and tiring day. Right now she wanted to spend alone time with Eddie. Without the hundreds of nosy people.

He hummed in response, giving the guy one final glare before turning back around towards the car. Ensuring his grip on Y/n's hand was firm enough, he quickly navigated through the last of the paparazzi, finally reaching their destination.

He rushed to her side, opening the door so she could get in. Then he ran back to the drivers side, closing and locking the doors before driving off. The car ride home was complete silence. Y/n knew Eddie was upset about everything they were saying, so she knew it was best to keep her mouth shut until he cooled down. Eventually they made it back to their house, all the tension being released into the air outside when Y/n opened her door.

"Uh, no." Eddie suddenly said, leaning over to her seat so he could grab ahold of the door.

"Seriously Eds, I can open my own door." She chuckled, letting him shut it.

"No, allow me sweetheart."

Unbuckling his seatbelt, he hopped out the car, heading over to her side before opening it again. She gave him a peck on the cheek as she got out, walking over to the front door afterwards. He then joined her as they entered, flicking on the hallway lights to light up the hallway.

Once Y/n dropped everything onto the table, she immediately went for the shower, needing to relax. Most of the time she could ignore the paparazzi but there were times when they would be so nasty. So that's when then the shower would come in handy, draining away all the mean things they'd say. It's how she coped. She wasn't going to let them get in the way of her and Eddie.

"What do you want to order in?" Y/n asked, after getting changed. When there was no answer, she left their shared bedroom, looking around to find him.

The back door to the yard was open and the light outside was on. He must've been having a smoke to calm himself down. She didn't blame him. The life of a rockstar and celebrity wasn't easy.

Quietly, she stepped outside, covering herself with her arms when the cold breeze hit her. Eddie was leaning against the railing, a cigarette in his hand after taking a drag. He was so deep in thought he hadn't realised that she was outside, until he felt someone wrapping their arms around his waist from behind.

"What's wrong?"

"Just thinking." He replied blankly, staring ahead into the darkness.

"You wanna talk about it?"

It seemed like he was contemplating on what to say, so she didn't say anything else. If he wasn't ready to talk yet, she'd wait till he was. God, sometimes she hated the paparazzi.

"I'm sorry Y/n." He said, lifting the cigarette back up to his lips.

"Why are you sorry Eddie? You haven't done anything."

"I dragged you into this, all of this, the paparazzi, the reporters. It's not fair." Tears were gathering up in his eyes as he explained.

His luck with relationships in the past weren't that good. Lots of the girls just wanted to be part of the fame and money. And he had been cheated on by one of them, Veronica. He knew Y/n wasn't there for the fame but he was terrified that the fame would be the exact thing that drove her away. As much as he tried to protect her, he knew that it wouldn't always be enough.

He never wanted to see Y/n getting hurt, he loved her too much. Maybe it was his insecurities getting in the way as well but he only wanted what was best for her. Even if that meant ending things.

"If you're trying do what I think you're gonna do then don't."

"Y/n-"

"No." She cut him off, taking a step back as he finally turned around. "A relationship takes two people, and they both get their opinions and say in things, and I say no."

Lifting her hands up, she cupped his cheeks, making sure he looked at her. She wasn't playing around and she wasn't letting him end things over stupid paparazzi. If he, even for a second, thought that her love for him wasn't as true as his was for her, then he was wrong.

"I don't care about what everyone else says about me or you, I don't care about Veronica, so no." As a tear rolled down his cheek, it was soon wiped away by her thumb. There was no way in the world she was going to let Eddie slip away because of some fools. They didn't deserve the satisfaction of ruining them, and she was going to ensure that.

No other words were exchanged while she embraced him in a hug. The only sound that was heard was Eddie's sobs or the occasional rustling of the trees. After a few minutes, his crying came to an end. Wiping away the last of his tears, he looked into her eyes, giving her a thankful smile.

"Go get changed into something comfortable and pick some movies, I'm going to order food." She almost demanded.

"Yes ma'am." He joked, placing a quick kiss on her lips before going back inside with her following him. With the snap of her fingers, Eddie was back to his energetic self. Sometimes he just needed some reassurance from the most important person in his life. "So, what we watching?"

"Terminator 2."

"Great choice." Y/n remarked, dropping down onto the couch beside Eddie. Immediately she was greeted by his arms wrapping around her, pulling her close to him. She then snuggled into him, whispering an 'I love you'.

"Thank you, for staying with me Y/n." At first he caught her by surprise. The question pondering in her head of why wouldn't she?

She didn't answer him as she was too busy thinking about a song that she was reminded of. An old classic really, that seemed to explain their situation perfectly. Eddie furrowed his eyebrows in confusion when she let out a low chuckle.

"Cause we're living in a world of fools, breaking us down, when they all should let us be." Y/n softly sang, glancing up at the confused guitarist. "We belong to you and me."

It took a few seconds until he realised what song it was. Personally it wasn't his music taste but there was no doubt it was a wonderful ballad. Plus Y/n had played it quite a lot when she was in a dancing mood, so he knew most of the lyrics.

He moved a stray strand of hair behind her ear, smirking at her. "Well then, how deep is your love?"

Fun fact, I live really close to where the Bee gees formed and there's this cool pathway about them. It plays their music all day everyday too.
