Troubled Waters

Scorpio x Taurus

____

Walking aimlessly under the starry sky of the city of stars, his turquoise cape fluttered in the wind following his steps. On this night, the town seemed more restless than usual. Apparently, the Sun was about to migrate to the constellation of Virgo and due to this, many preparations were on the agenda.

Everyone was supposed to give their all and Taurus himself had his share to do but in all this mess, it was strangely impossible for him to find his new friend who was still new to their practices.

"Aries, have you seen Scorpio?"

A young woman with white hair tied back in a ponytail and wearing the pearlescent and golden garments, signs of the constellations, turned to face the young man, the rainbow frills of her clothing rustling around her as she moved, then raised her eyebrows as she pondered over his question.

"Hmm... I don't think I've seen him around, he's not supposed to show up for a hell of a lot of moons so maybe he decided to hole up at home?"

"I already tried knocking on his door but he wasn't there."

"Really? Hmm...!" Aries suddenly snapped, seeming to have an idea about where Scorpio might be, "Why don't you go take a look at the mirror lake? You know they've always loved water!"

'They' was referring to the previous Scorpios. Even though they were technically a different person with each reincarnation, the different constellations generally kept the same tastes most of the time. Well, Scorpio's affection for water simply came from the nature of his sign rather than his preferences though.

"Thanks for the advice, Aries. I'll go and check it out."

"You're welcome! I'd help you look for him but Virgo needs me, you know how she is during this period..."

The young woman gave him an apologetic smile with a weak laugh.

"Don't worry, I'll manage."

"Good luck finding him!"

She gave him one last wave before slipping away towards the heart of the citadel, leaving the young Taurus alone again.

"The mirror lake..." he whispered.

The idea seemed plausible, therefore, there was no harm in attempting it?

The lake was only half an hour's walk from the city and as its name could hint, the water was so clear that one could see its reflection by bending over as clearly as if looking in a mirror.

This one was so translucent that the stars were reflected perfectly, giving the impression of almost being able to walk on the water, which was not the case of course.

Well, Aries was right about one thing.

Aesop approached the shoreline, glancing away at a white figure floating in the center of the lake.

"Eli."

That was the name the latter had told him to call him by.

The figure shivered slightly at his voice, the only evidence that he had heard him since it was quite difficult to tell if he was awake or not due to the sky blue blindfold covering his eyes.

"You'll catch a cold if you swim in your clothes..." continued Taurus.

For a moment, Scorpio didn't move. Then after a minute or two, it seemed to Aesop that the man let out a sigh, still floating on his back, before swimming back to the shore.

Going into the water with his clothes on was definitely not a good idea in any event as the young man had emerged dripping from the water, drops continually falling at his feet.

"Hello, Aesop." said the other with an obnoxious smile.

"Is that all you have to say after disappearing since this morning?"

Eli laughed weakly in response, the other's admonitions not having much effect on him.

"You should go take a bath before you catch a cold..." resumed Taurus.

"Will you take one with me?" asked Scorpio.

"What?"

It was literally bizarre.

It must have been only a few weeks since Scorpio had been reincarnated and they had certainly grown close pretty quickly, but to take a bath together? In other words, both of them in a closed space and naked?

That was just crazy.

And yet,

"Were the plastic ducks really necessary...?"

"Aren't they adorable?" added Eli with a wide smile.

Here Aesop had found himself following the male home and somehow ending up in the hot water of his bathtub with the latter sitting right behind him. Which was probably for the best as Scorpio wouldn't be able to see his scarlet face because of the embarrassment.

"Mhm..."

Well, it wasn't that unpleasant he had to admit.

It was a little strange to see Eli without his blindfold on, but the young man had found himself immediately mesmerized by the dark blue of his eyes, as deep as the sea of stars.

Then, of course, there were the plastic ducks.

Aesop didn't know why Eli had such a thing at home but it was cute to see them floating on the surface of their bath water, bumping lightly against each other before sailing off in another direction.

Their situation was really strange, but it was also relaxing despite everything, to Taurus' surprise. Maybe it was because he had always been close to Scorpio?

Aesop bent down, letting the water hide half of his face, while resting his back against Eli's chest, who widened his eyes at the sudden motion. Nevertheless, he smiled before filling the hollow of his hand with water and running it over the male's protruding shoulder.

They were a bit tight in this position but it didn't bother them.

After a bath together, Aesop could only wonder what kind of surprises Eli had in store for him again...
