Chapter 19

"Alright run your laps! 3 Laps! Hurry!" The coaches yells.

Baekhyun ran beside Chen. Baekhyun wore his red jersey and soccer shorts. Chen was wearing just like Baekhyun but his jersey was blue because he was on a different team.

"Ugh, I'm. So. Tired." Chen complains.

"I know, I'm quite surprise you made it through the first season." Baekhyun replies.

Baekhyun was already on his last lap when Chen was only in his second.

"Wait,-" Chen started

"Hurry, you better get here before the countdown ends. 10, 9, 8-"

"Hurry chen."

"I'm only on my second lap."

Baekhyun laughs, "you better finish your three laps before the count down ends."

"7, 6, 5,-"

"Fuck it. I'm gonna pretend i did my 3 laps." Chen says tired.

They finished their lap and huddled around the coaches.

"4, 3, 2, 1. Good job on finishing on time. Next time you guys have to be quicker than that. But first take a knee."

The soccer played all kneeled down on one knee facing the coaches and listening for instructions. It was a soccer thing when you were told to 'take a knee'.

The new soccer players were confused. Some followed the rest and went on their knees and someone just stood there lost.

The coaches looked at them impatiently. Taemin happened to be by Baekhyun. Baekhyun instantly tugged him down on to the ground. He landed on his knees.

"What the he-" Taemin started.

"All, you beginners who are standing, Take a lap. If you don't know what 'take a knee' is then run laps until you do." The coaches ordered.

The beginners took a another lap.

Taemin sighs relieved.

"You owe me one." Baekhyun whispers to Taemin.

Taemin looked at him a smirked,"Thanks."

Some laughed at the beginners.

"Hurry!," The sports coordinator shouted at the beginners,"Whatever, we're gonna start without them. First off today, you will separate into your teams. Warm up, do some drills. You're gonna scrimmage today with another team. Listen, On Thursday were gonna go against another school. Coaches make sure your team is ready by Thursday. Before we break off, can we get all the team captains follow us and the beginners over here. Okay huddle in."

Everyone huddled in with their fists up towards the sports coordinator and coaches' fists were. Rhinos were their school mascot,"Alright, Rhinos on three, One, two, three!"

"RHINOSS!" The soccer players yelled at the top of their lungs.

The teams broke off into groups.
"Baekhyun and Luhan, go to where the captains are supposed to meet." Baekhyun's coach, Mr.John ordered.

Avoiding Luhan, Baekhyun walked with Chanyeol over to where the captains were suppose to meet. Chanyeol wore a black jersey and soccer shoes.

"We're gonna distribute lists, and on those lists are the names of the beginners that'll be part of your team."

They each grabbed their lists

The newbies huddled around Bawkhyun and Luhan making them close together. Baekhyun shifted away awkwardly.

Taemin walks over and puts an arm over Baekhyun's neck,"Did you get me?" He smirked.

Baekhyun pushed his arm off and laughs, "No loser, you're on the purple team..lets see your captain is.."

He hugged a brown hair boy's neck. The boy turned back to see Baekhyun and exclaims,"Baekhyunnie! Hiiii! I heard you were training your team well."

Baekhyun laughs,"I may just beat you this year."

"No way." The boy jokes. Then he looks at Taemin,"Whose this newbie?"

"He's on your team."

"What's his name?" The brown hair asks Baekhyun.

"I'm Taemin, Lee Taemin." Taemin smiles.

The brown hair boy checks his list and nods. He then grabs Baekhyun by the neck and whispers,"I hate training newbies. They don't know what and when to do what."

Baekhyun pats his back,"I agree, but patience is a virtue Minho."

"Minho?" Taemin smirks questionly,"Are you..single Minho?"

Minho looked at Taemin disgusted,"It's Captain to you. It's soccer not a dating game. If your here for that then you might as well leave right now. I take soccer seriously and I have the power to put you through he'll training and even kick you off this team which you haven't even made it yet so stop pushing your luck kid."

Minho turn to Baekhyun and smiles,"I hope your newbies aren't this bratty. See you in a bit Baekhyunnie."

"Bye Minho." Baekhyun smiles.

Minho walks into the crowd of newbies.

Taemin sighs,"But he's cute."

Baekhyun rolled his eyes and walk toward Luhan.

Luhan looked up to see Baekhyun and smiles,"You're back."

Baekhyun gives him a small smile,"Did you finished grabbing the newbies?"

Luhan's eyes twinkles,"Yeah I did. Lets go."

They walked toward the team with 4 newbies behind them.

"I'm Baekhyun and this is Luhan. We are team Captains. Today we're gonna do warm ups and then separate into 3 groups, Mr. John, Luhan, and I will take a group. You will be assessed. Based on your skills you will be put into a position on the team. But first lets do warm ups."

Baekhyun sighed as the team made a wide circle around him and Luhan. Baekhyun and Luhan lead the warm ups.

"Baekhyun, take the newbies with you." Mr. John says.

Baekhyun looks give him the 'are you serious look.' Mr. John laughs,"Thanks Baekhyun. That's why you're team captain."

Baekhyun sighs. Luhan walks over and smiles at him,"Wanna trade I can take the newbies if you want."

Baekhyun shook his head,"It's fine."

Baekhyun walked to the pile of equipments. A shadow hovered over behind him. An arm snaked over his neck,"Baekkie!"

Baekhyun jumps,"What the heck Yeol."

Chanyeol giggles. "How many newbies did you get?"

"4 and you?"

"6 I think." Chanyeol raised an eyebrow.

"I have have to train the newbies Yeollie."

Chanyeol laughs,"Sehun is doing that for our team. See ya after soccer Baekkie."

Baekkie smiles as Chanyeol walks to his team.

He was about to grab the red soccer bag but someone grabs it before he does.

He turn to see Luhan holding the bag over his shoulder, "I got it Baekhyun, lets go."

"Thanks." Baekhyun murmurs.

They separated into three groups.

"Alright introduce yourselves." Baekhyun said to the beginners.

They looked shyly at each other among each other.

"You, in with the black go first."

"H-hello,"he said shyly,"I'm Jimin, Park Jimin"

"Nice to meet you Jiminnie." Baekhyun smiles.

Jimin smiles widely,"Please take care of me well captain."

"Call me Baekhyun."

Jimins smile so wide, his eyes became really chinky,"Really?"

"Yeah," Baekhyun laughs.

"I'm Jungkook."

"I'm Taehyung."

"I'm Mark."

They all introduced themselves.

"Hello, again I'm Baekhyun. And you guys can call me Baekhyun if you want to. Lets get started. Jiminnie you first."

There were cones set up and they had to zigzag around the cones and back. They continued to practice.

"Huddle up!" Mr. John yells.

"We're gonna go against Black team today. They're pretty good, original players are gonna start first. Lets go. Captains to the field please."

Chanyeol and Suho were captains of the Black team. Luhan and Baekhyun were captains of the Red team.

After a coin toss, Baekhyun won and started with the ball first.

Baekhyun started as center midfielder and Chanyeol was opposite of Baekhyun, defense midfielder.

Chanyeol smirked at Baekhyun,"Good luck." Baekhyun laughs,"Right. You too."

At the blow of the whistle, Baekhyun kicked the ball to the left to Luhan. He lead the ball with his foot. Baekhyun ran to an opening, at the right time Luhan passed back to Baekhyun. Baekhyun had the ball and Chanyeol who was watching him laughed.

Baekhyun faked to the left and went to the right passing to Luhan. Luhan shoots and scored.

Baekhyun cheered and gave Luhan a joyful hug. After he realized what he had done he turned red and cleared his throat,"Good..job."

Luhan laughs,"It was thanks to you too."

Baekhyun shook his head. The score was 1 to 0 now.

They kicked the ball around changing the game back and forth. Chanyeol's team starts with the ball this time. Baekhyun bolted toward Chanyeol but Sehun crossed him and ran into him down. The referee blows the whistle. It was a penalty. Sehun receives a card and was sit off to the side.

Baekhyun's elbow was scraped. His jersey and body was marked with grass and dirt stains from playing soccer all day.

Chanyeol and Luhan quickly runs over. They both lend a had at the same time.

Sighing in pain, Baekhyun reached for both hands.

"Are you okay?" Luhan asks.

"Yeah, just a little scratch." Baekhyun have him a small smiled.

"I'll go get the band aid."

"Thanks." Baekhyun replies.

Baekhyun turned to Chanyeol who looked at him and said, "Awkward."

Baekhyun nods, "I know.. But ouch this hurts so much."

"owh," Chanyeol says wincing and cleaned Baekhyun's arm. "Wait but you just said it was just a scratch to Luhan." Chanyeol looked at him.

"Because it'd be awkward if he was babying me. And plus you're my Yeollie. I can baby to you." He laughs.

Chanyeol laughs shaking his head,"Want me to kiss your booboo too?"

Baekhyun laughs, "no thanks."

Chanyeol lead him toward the sideline.

"Go, you need to get back to the game."

"You sure?"

Baekhyun gives him a small smile,"Yes Yeollie, I'll be back after I get this band aide up."

Chanyeol hugs him and runs to the field again.

Luhan and Baekhyun sits out for the next play.

Luhan dabbed alcohol and disinfect the scrape.

Baekhyun winced.

"Sorry," Luhan quickly apologizes.

Baekhyun laughs, "it's okay. Thanks for..always looking out for me and helping me..Luhan."

Luhan looks at him and smiles,"That's what friends do right?"

Baekhyun gave him a small smile.

After a couple scores it was 3 to 3. Baekhyun started with the ball but this time it was with the newbies. Baekhyun kicked left to Jimin. He ran with the ball and kicked to Taehyung. Hesitating, Taehyung was looking for someone to be open. Baekhyun ran down the middle. He kicked it to Baekhyun who made eye contacts with Jimin who knew right then, he kicks it to Jimin who shoots it in. "GOAAALLL!" Jimin screams running toward Taehyung and giving him a hug. The blow of the whistle signals that the game was over, 4 to 3.

Chanyeol jumps and cheers for Baekhyun too. He carried Baekhyun and twirls him around.

"Chanyeol what the heck, you're not suppose to be cheering." Suho said on the other side.

Baekhyun laughs hugging Chanyeol.

"You were so cool on the field Baekkie." Chanyeol says.

"You were too. Good game Yeollie."

"See ya in a bit. I'm team is..sulking."

Baekhyun laughs,"See ya."

Chanyeol puts Baekhyun down and jogs back to his sulking team.

Luhan hugs him in congratulatory. Baekhyun quickly pulls away red like a tomato.

Jimins runs over and have Baekhyun a full blown tackle hug luckily he didn't fall. "JIMINNIE!! You did such a great job!" Baekhyun says to him.

"No, you did better." Jimin laughs.

The team huddled around each other congratulating one another.

Mr.John pats Baekhyun and Jimin in the back, "great job boys. I knew you could do it, training the beginners and all. That's why you're team captain Baekhyun."

Later on the bus ride home, Baekhyun leaned on Chanyeol's shoulder.

"You ex is so rough, did you teach him to be like that?" Baekhyun laughs.

"Ew no, he's just like that. YOUR ex was competitive but caring towards you."

"He's..nice."

Chanyeol looks at Baekhyun, "wanna get back with him?"

Baekhyun punches Chanyeol's chest. "OW!"

"No, we're.. Friends? I don't know whatever."

Chanyeol laughs and pats Baekhyun's head.

"Rest Baby Baekkie. You've worked hard." Baekhyun laughs and closes his eyes. "You too."
