{1} Bai Feng Jiu

I suggest reading the story description first. It doesn't matter if you haven't read or watched the original series. This story is similar and also different to it. It is just as how I imagine my most beloved characters.

This novel has been a great experience for me as I felt my writing improve with every chapter.

This story has also been fully edited and ready for you to read.

Characters are mentioned again at the end of this chapter

//Ten miles of peach blossoms//

"Zhen Zhen"

God Zhe Yan, who was sitting on a tree from his Peach blossom forest, called out eyeing Bai Zhen who was walking towards him.

A small smile played on his lips.

He jumped down with elegance and cocked his head to one side.

"Lord Zhe Yan." Bai Zhen greeted him by cupping his hand.

Zhe Yan raised his eyebrows, thinking how this brat remembered to greet him.

"I was wondering if I could have some wine." Bai Zhen said.

Lord Zhe Yan nodded and motioned him to walk sit on the table he had placed in front of them out of nowhere using magic arts.

"Feng Jiu is here?" Bai Zhen asked. Zhe Yan shook his head.

Bai Zhen sighed and whined, "Lao Feng(old phoenix), I guess I'll have to save Xiao Jiu from second brother's wrath again."

"Feng Jiu is indeed lively...Is she making trouble again?... Wait did you just call me old?"

Lord Zhe Yan lightly squinted, his face carrying slight traces of sulkiness.

"Yes, Where is the lie in that?" He laughed.

Zhe Yan eyed him and shook his head.

"She has always been notorious. Sometimes she resembles Bai Qian from when she was young...Brother is a little worried about her. After all, she is the future empress of Qingque."

"She'll only grow up when she meets her trials. Right now, she's young and candid. Isn't it better than being mature and reserved?"

"Forget it. Let's drink." He smiled, drinking the wine that lord Zhe Yan poured him.

---

"Sister Feng Jiu!"

Jingwei ran to her, as Bai Feng Jiu was baking her favorite sorrowless cakes for her friend Chengyu inside the kitchen.

She was the princess of the Qing Que, The nine-tailed White Fox Tribe. But she was the only red fox.

"You're back?" he asked.

She had just come back from a duel with some other goddess.

"Or what? Tell me, what are you here for?" Feng Jiu casually asked.

"Lord Bai Zhen is calling for you." He said, breathlessly. She laughed.

"Hey, Birdie, didn't you fly here?" she couldn't help but say when she saw him huff and puff. "Anyway, Tell Uncle that I haven't come back yet."

"Sister Feng Jiu! Please go back with me."

"Okay, but first drop me at Chengyu's place. I'll visit him afterwards" She said energetically and bounced out of the fox cave with the box of cake.

Bai Feng Jiu sat on Jingwei, who was her uncle's mount, and her classmate. They flew over the clouds.

"Fly a little down Jingwei, I want to enjoy the scenery."

She giggled as the cold breeze touched her. She closed her eyes to enjoy it for a while. Jingwei who had accepted his fate descended downwards at full speed. Feng Jiu almost fell off him.

"Ayya, Xiao Jingwei (little Jingwei) do you hate me so much, go slow." She plucked out one of his feathers in revenge and giggled when he flinched. Jingwei wanted to cry!

Her long natural black hair flew in the air. The bright red feather like mark on her forehead added to the attractiveness of her unrivaled beauty.

She was the only red nine-tailed fox in the nine heavens. Full of spirit and cheerful as ever, she was also famous for being mischievous.

//Tai Chen palace//

Emporer Dong Hua, the silver-haired, painfully handsome, and the most respected god in the nine heavens was painting when the housekeeper of Tai Chen Palace Chong Lin came in. He bowed to Dong Hua, cupping his hand.

"Rise," his voice softly echoed in the calm of the palace.

It was evening and the colors of the sunset and the flowers outside his room seemed to blend into a splendid image.

"Di jun, The Third Prince has come to visit you." Chong Lin informed.

"Let him in." As soon as he finished his words Lian Song came in.

"Di Jun." he greeted respectfully with his slightly bewitching smile.

"If I didn't know you, I'd think you have something important to say."

"Di Jun I do, what about the special magical weapon you promised to help me make?" Lian Song said grinning, as he adjusted his clothes and sat in front of Dong Hua.

"Prince Lian Song, aren't you more than capable of making a weapon?" He said folding his painting into a scroll and hanging the brushes in their place. He didn't even look into his eyes until Lian Song called him again.

He was observant, but he didn't directly show that. Even though his eyes remained low, he saw everything. Even his words were precious. He'd only occasionally talk to Prince Lian Song or Fate God Si Ming.

"I did agree, but I think I was supposed to help you only if you brought me that thing." Di Jun said finally raising his eyes to look at Lian Song.

"That thing...Oh, Yes I almost forgot about it." He lifted his hand into the air and a jade necklace appeared on his hand.

"This is the Gunsha jade necklace. It looks really normal. But I had to woo Ma Chen for giving up this necklace from her collection." Lian Song commented while looking closely at the necklace and sighing.

"Although it isn't top quality jade, it can serve great purposes. It can heal wounds and help improve cultivation."

"But Di jun, your cultivation is already way more than any of us. Why do you need this?"

"It can also let the owner know about the whereabouts of the person he is thinking about. As long as it recognizes a person as its sole owner there are other purposes also." Di Jun said, taking the jade from his hand and placing it inside his gown.

"Are you still looking for your little fox? Ayya, you really favor it. All the fairies are rather jealous of it."

"The little fox was the only one who tried to save my life when I was in the Ten evil lotus land." There was a hint of a smile on Dong Hua's face enough to make Lian Song surprised. Dong Hua remembered the little fox who threw fireballs to fight and was stupid enough to burn its paw with its own flame.

"Wasn't Ji Heng there too?" Lian Song asked.

Dong Hua eyed him.

"She is also missing. Even if you planned to let her run away from your wedding, and I almost got sent to prison by father for not holding your wedding well, she still couldn't reach Fanyin Valley with her lover." He shook his head.

"I only helped her because she is Meng Hao's daughter. He asked me to take care of her before he died."

"Your late general..." Lian Song said surprised.

---

After Lian Song left, Dong Hua took out the necklace and studied it with his tranquil gaze. As he turned it around, there was a unicorn forged on it.

His gaze didn't even change a tiny bit. He was always so peaceful. As if he was a person who desired nothing. He indeed didn't.

He only cared for a few people, especially his little fox who had gone missing when he locked it away for scratching and biting Ji Heng, the princess of the Demon Clan. Also his ex-fiance.

From then on he has looked for it everywhere. The gods in Tai Chen Palace thought he'd look for Ji heng at first. But then Dong Hua told them to look for the fox. Everyone wondered how the little fox meant so much to a god, like him.
