{49} I want to marry Xiao Bai

The whole Fox family was tense and Dong Hua's eyes were cold. The fox king cast him a glance to figure out why this great god brought home his severely injured daughter. But no one dared say a single word to ask him anything. Feng Jiu often hurt herself but never so much that she was in such a bad state. She only became the queen and she's injured on her first day.

Bai Qian was tense too. Ye Hua noticed and moved towards Dong Hua and cupped his hands.

"Di Jun, may I ask where did you find Feng Jiu? It's weird that she left Qingqiu so suddenly and came back injured. Something must be up."

"She was with me. I was fighting Tang Yin." Dong Hua said. Dong Hua still hadn't changed his blood-stained clothes. His figure was terrifying to everyone. After all, he was indeed the most powerful god. But at this moment his voice was still emotionless but it still sent shivers down people's spine for an unknown reason.

"Did she go there to give her life away?" The Fox King murmured angrily feeling both anger and fright. He knew it was her daughter, crazy for Dong Hua throwing her life away. But he was still mad at the god. After all, how could he blame his baby even now? She was in this state because of him. He was wondering why he didn't lock her up in the fox den so she would stop making them worry.  Dong Hua didn't look at him and took a breath. He hated that Xiao Bai had suffered.

Just then Zhe Yan called them in. Feng Jiu was lying on a bed her eyes closed. Dong Hua sat beside her shocking all yet again.

"Xiao Bai." he caressed her face and frowned deeper. Zhe Yan was about to say something but became speechless for a moment. It's Dong Hua Di Jun? Not an imposter. He is talking so sweetly? He came back to his senses after awkwardly staring at Dong Hua.

"Her wounds are abnormal. It's likely..."

"Dark Magic." Ye Hua spoke up solemnly.

"Yes." Zhe Yan spoke in a low voice. "It didn't devour her and surprisingly her life force is brimming. Even the internal wounds are healing." Of course, that was because Dong Hua had fed spirit grass to Gunsha and it was helping Feng Jiu repair slowly. Everyone was relaxed. But Zhe Yan frowned.

"Then why isn't she waking up. Why is she burning up instead?" Dong Hua spoke as he looked at him with his piercing gaze.

"That is for another reason. She...Xiao Jiu has lost one of her tails." he said finally. Bai Qian and the other members of the fox family froze?

"Did she?..." Bai Zhen said but couldn't complete his sentence.

"I guess she indeed cut it herself. Losing a tail for a nine-tailed fox is more painful than losing a limb. It's basically torture that continues on. I can help her regrow her tail but even with medicines, it's impossible for her to not experience the pain of losing a tail. Tails are like lifelines for a nine-tailed fox. Losing it is no different from going through the pain of losing an entire life." Zhe Yan informed and sighed. Dong Hua's eyes darkened. He truly regretted ever leaving Tang Yin alive in the past. Regardless of troubles Dong Hua never once regretted his decisions but now he finally did. If his decisions hurt Xiao Bai, how can he still say he was right.

He abruptly noticed Feng Jiu's pale expression returning and stood up. He turned to the fox King.

"Di Jun. Thank you for bringing Xiao Jiu home. I know my daughter caused you trouble but right now she is not well. She is even ready to throw her responsibilities and life away for you. This king can not tell you to marry Xiao Jiu, but only that you could ignore her properly without giving her any hopes. Our fox family usually only chooses one person for life but seeing Xiao Jiu is young and foolish she will be able to move on one day." he said and looked at Dong Hua who looked deep in thought.

"I want to marry Xiao Bai..."

The air froze. Perceiving the atmosphere Dong Hua said, "I want to bring some premium herbs so I will take my leave." Dong Hua nodded slightly with a somber face and turned to leave. Stunned, no one could move.

Then Bai Qian laughed like she saw it coming and Ye Hua also broke into a smile. Finally, the Fox King came to his senses and frowned while looking at his daughter.

Did Di Jun pity her daughter? Is that why he was willing to take her in? Dong Hua paused and looked back at him. He took a breath and said "Xiao Bai is someone I have truly fallen for. I hope the Fox King doesn't have objections. I will never let her get hurt again." The great god said a little awkwardly. He gazed and Feng Jiu and finally left.

Objections? Who could mouth them to him? Plus a few months back he was thinking of begging Di Jun to marry his daughter. Back then he knew Di Jun wouldn't agree so he kept postponing it. But who knew Di jun wanted to marry Xiao Jiu and he loved her too?

Zhe Yan revealed a small smile while exchanging a glance with Bai Zhen and turned to treat Feng Jiu.

Days passed quickly. Feng Jiu didn't wake up for a whole weak in which Dong Hua stayed glued to her. Her complexion improved and she was no longer in unbearable pain. Moreover, Dong Hua had continuously comforted her and fed her medicine.

Right now Feng Jiu still hadn't woken up. The moment she creased her brows, Dong Hua leaned closer to her. His heart ached for her. He kissed her forehead and put a pill in his mouth and fed it to Feng Jiu after chewing it. Feng jiu started crying in her sleep and snuggled closer to Dong Hua and pulled on his silver hair. By now he was immune to her sudden crying like a baby.

Outside the fox family rarely did visit their own Xiao Jiu. They didn't dare. Even if they did it was when Di Jun left the bed, sometimes for bringing medicine for her or for fresh air.

Gunsha had also healed Dong Hua bit by bit on its own. Dong Hua had fed him so much spirit grass that he was overflowing with energy. He got himself certainly a rich master, thought Gunsha.

It was then that Fang Lei and Yan Chiwu arrived in Qing que. Yan rushed for Xiao Jiu's cave without care. Fang Lei also ignored the looks people gave them. They rushed in only to find a couple sleeping peacefully with Feng Jiu snuggled into his embrace. Dong Hua opened his eyes as if telling them not to say a word.

Yan was speechless for a moment but before he could actually scream or say anything weird then Ji Heng pinched him and dragged him out.

"But Xiao Jiu..." He voiced softly.

"Do you think she needs more care than that? Let's visit when she's better." Ji Heng said as she stared at him. She had an urge to flick on his forehead but turned away from him after dragging him out of the fox cave. Yan Chiwu pulled her hair playfully and she turned around in anger.

"Ugh...Yan Chiwu... it's hurting you bastard. You...can never change." She glared at him and swatted his hands away. Just then Xiao Yan leaned into her and whispered in her year.

"Ji Heng I'll also take care of you like that." He said and grabbed her hand. Ji Heng's face flushed, half from anger and a half from his words. But Yan Chiwu only flashed a sweet, youthful smile brimming with sincerity. Hence Ji Heng couldn't say anything. In fact, she was flustered herself.

Fang Lei stood there for a while looking at the couple. He felt something faint in his heart. But it went away on its own. Dong Hua raised a brow at him. He quickly turned and left. Then Dong Hua resumed his position and began to comfort the sweating Xiao Bai.

The next Day, Feng Jiu woke up. As she looked around the room with a slight pain in her chest, she found that she was in her fox cave. She looked out from the window and found Dong Hua who was sitting cross-legged in the yard. His robe was whiter than snow, his silver hair danced in the air. He looked so good that Feng Jiu forgot to breathe. Only after a few seconds she breathed a sigh of relief and calmed down.

She knew she had been asleep for a while. These past days she had felt pain and then comfort, she had felt cold but then warmth. She knew it was Di Jun. She smiled to herself and cupped her cheeks. Excitement filled her. She ran out in her fox form and pounced on Dong Hua's shoulder.

Just as she thought the words 'impudent' were gonna come out of his mouth, Dong Hua pulled her. She fell into his arms gracefully and his handsome face came into view.

"You're awake." He petted her. She turned into her real form and appeared a little tired.

"Do you feel better in fox form?" He asked. His eyes darkened when he saw the eight tails and a very small fur that had only started to regrow.

"Yes. In case I need to run around." She smiled and wrapped her hands around Dong Hua's neck. She was still in his arms and he walked back inside.

"Rest Xiao Bai. We'll go out to play at later times." He softly said and brushed her nose with his finger. After placing her on the bed he turned around and was about to leave but Feng Jiu hugged him from behind.

"You can't leave me" She pouted.

"I'm not." He said.

"You're not allowed to lie to me in the future either or I will make someone else my boyfriend." She said hugging him tightly in a whiny tone.

"How will you make a boyfriend when you're already married to me? Did you forget you agreed to marry me?" He said with a smile.

Feng jiu stared blankly for a moment and then blushed.

"But father didn't agree yet."

"I've already talked to him." Dong Hua said and turned around to look at the stunned Xiao Jiu before carrying her in his arms again. She giggled a little and planted a wet kiss on Dong Hua's cheek making him look at her quietly. The way she smiled at him already seduced Dong Hua.

His heart was finally calm.
