{31} Liking XiaoBai

Feng Jiu stepped inside the bathroom. A flowery aroma filled the room making her grin. It was as big as a room. Although it wasn't anything new to her. She had been a princess all her life. The only difference was the change of style. But it made her incredibly happy and excited regardless. Then she saw that there was a Big round Soup bowl Freestanding tub, Behind which was a full-sized window. She gasped. Upon further examination, she understood that she could see outside but people couldn't watch what was happening inside. She stared at it all for a while in shock. Dong Hua Di Jun did this for her. She almost squealed with delight but then quickly covered her mouth and took off her clothes stepping into the tub. The water was considerably warm washing all her fatigue away.

It is small, but okay. Di Jun...So all this time I was downstairs with Yan and Fang Lei he prepared warm water for me. I didn't know he could be sweet. I think I have been misunderstanding him a little all along. It seems like he sees me as a long lost friend. She giggled. Well, then I can just be his friend, right? To be able to see him every day makes my heart flutter. Wait. No, your heart shouldn't flutter for a friend. I have to have some rules to friendzone him in my heart.

She slapped the water once in a while whenever she grew excited and then rested her head on the surface of the tub and closed her eyes. Her mind went back to the time she could easily jump into Dong Hua's lap and he would pet her for as long as she wished. She would literally jump into his bed wanting to cuddle with him and he said nothing but welcomed her with open arms. She couldn't talk then, but he did talk to her. Not a lot but definitely more than he did with Lian Song and Si Ming together. She would reply with expressions or actions. Even though she didn't do much for him he had come to be really fond of her cuteness and mischief and how she would protect him without giving it a thought even though he didn't need any help from anyone. Simply because he was the god at the very top of others. He would take her along everywhere. At some point, even Zhi He (The foster sister of Dong Hua she previously had a fight with) had envied her. Thinking about that made her laugh but also filled her with a tenacious desire. Just once, she wanted to be able to feel his warm hands on her cheeks again. So much that she didn't mind being a pet again. But then something inside her told her to stop and be mature. It was the part of her that had been hurt years before. Who didn't intend to come out? Which resided in the corner of her heart. Sometimes trembling, sometimes somber. Though it secretly protected her, telling her to stop whenever that innate, almost indomitable desire of being able to love Dong Hua and he loving her back rose inside her.

She stepped out and wore her clothes. She gazed at the mirror which was now covered with mist. She cleared it with her palm and stared at her reflection. She touched her forehead where the phoenix mark had been. She gave herself a soft smile.

---

Dong Hua rushed into his room and locked the door. His face was calm. He looked into space for a moment and then walked over to the bed. He couldn't help but think about how cute Feng Jiu was as he lay in between the sheets. He was kinda looking forward to being her friend. He was so happy that he was able to make her stay with him and also manipulate her into being her friend.

Well even if it was Lian Song he would never do such a lame thing as taking revenge. Which was not even proper revenge. Well actually people could ask him to help them in cultivation or to help them exterminate formidable enemies, but never in his life, a person had demanded such a small thing from him. And seeing how Feng Jiu had been hesitating before to be near him, it was clearly big progress with Feng Jiu. Her cute, shy smiles, her pouting, her stubbornness, her cheerful nature, or the way she wasn't afraid in the least to duel with anyone.

He had seen her battle with Zhi He and the spider in the green sea. Everything about her seemed just perfect to him. He was surprised at his own thoughts. He let out a cough as to dismiss his thoughts and took out a Buddhist scripture. He didn't care that he was in the freaking mortal realm. A monk after all!

Even he couldn't figure out why he had taken a liking to this beautiful fairy. Beautiful and capable and daring fairy. A bit stupid and lacking in knowledge, very young, nine-tailed fox and the empress of Qingque.

He mentally smacked himself. He decided not to show his emotions too much around Feng Jiu but also send anyone packing if he stepped near Feng Jiu. Feng Jiu was popular among men. If only she didn't scare all her blind dates away and they were to be called upon together. They'd really form a huge harem.

---

Feng Jiu blinked a few times. The bright sunlight had forced her to wake up. She yawned and stretched her arms and collapsed into her bed again her eyes closed. Suddenly she heard the knock on the door and became aware of her surroundings. She wasn't in the nine heavens nor Qingque, but earth. And Dong Hua Di Jun was practically living under the same roof as her. Then she sensed the doorknob turning, suddenly she jumped inside her blanket covering her face.

Dong Hua peeked in. When he found Feng Jiu sleeping a smile slowly appeared on his face. A genuine smile. He walked towards her with warm water in his hand. He kept it aside on the table and sat beside her. Then he noticed that her face was covered with a blanket.

"You'll cause yourself to suffocate Xiao Bai." He said. Feng Jiu clenched her teeth. Her mind was extremely blank. She was messed up and didn't want Dong Hua to see her in this state when she just opened her eyes. Moments before she was sleepy but now she was fully awake. When she didn't do anything, Dong Hua pulled on her blanket, she immediately closed her eyes again and pretended to be affected by the sunlight when Dong Hua pulled the blanket off her face. She fake yawned and then stared at Dong Hua in confusion. Her acting skills were good, but there were only a few things in the world that Di Jun would overlook.

Of course he knew of her little act. He smiled internally. Feng Jiu had been mischievous but she was fundamentally kind and wouldn't do anything immoral. Dong Hua of course knew that too.

"Di Jun?" She said, offering a surprising look. Dong Hua was dressed in an off-white suit which made him look divine. Feng Jiu's gaze lingered longer than it should have. But he was just so handsome, it took her breath away. Even as he was in a different attire, the aura of a god radiated off him. He cocked his head to one side and gazed at her. She broke away from him and stared at the white marble floor instead. Dong Hua handed her the glass of warm water which she accepted gratefully.

"You didn't have to Di Jun. it's my duty." She said lowering her head.

"It's okay, I can make the morning tea for both of us. I already have, it should be ready by now. I'll bring it now." He said and turned away. He stopped midway while Feng Jiu had been staring at him with surprise written on her face. "By the way, you do drink tea right?"

She nodded slightly. Dong Hua left abruptly. She stared into the space for a few moments before she stepped into the bathroom and washed her face, and fixed her hair. She felt as if her heart was now a jelly jumping randomly inside her chest.

She was actually surprised. A god who was served by other people always was giving her water?

She looked at her clothes and sighed. She couldn't wear her own clothes of course. When did the mortal realm change so much? I have not been here in like three years and it changed so much. Oh, I forgot that one day in heaven means a year here. Duh, Mortals have progressed. Their devices are more fun than some of our magic techniques.

She walked into the lobby happily. She gaped at the variety of things that were spread against her on the table, Three alike coffee cups, one turquoise, one pink, and one mustard. Further a bunch of clothes for her. Dong Hua's clothes were also there, mostly simple shirts and formal suits. Most of her clothes were pink. Two cellphones. One again had Azure colored cover and one had golden. And there was a huge plastic bag in which were several snacks.

Seems like he remembers my favorite colors. Wait how does he know I'm a glutton? No wait he doesn't, These snacks aren't for eating in a day. Well, they do look delicious. I'll eat them first and then buy some more to replace them so he won't suspect anything.

Feng Jiu beamed with excitement. And then there was Di Jun pouring tea in two cups and heading towards her. The clock showed that it was eight in the morning. Di Jun glanced at Xiao Jiu who could barely contain her excitement but wasn't sure how to start a conversation. Neither was he.

"Xiao Bai these are some things I brought. Although we'll need to buy a lot more. And I've also looked for some houses on rent here. They will be bigger than this, and we won't be disturbed by all these people in this hotel." he said as he sat down next to her. Feng Jiu eyed the snacks with mischief and greed. Dong Hua noticed her and fought the urge to shake his head.

"Oh, Thank You Di Jun." She said smiling warmly. "By the way Di Jun, can you create the currency used here?"

"No, It would last only four hours. Do you wanna con people?" He asked.

"No..." She said immediately and appeared to be lost in thought, "How about converting this silver into the currency these mortals use?" She gave him a toothy grin.

"I can't. It will use a lot of energy to make you a millionaire in the mortal realm." He said lying back on the Sofa. Enjoying every reaction of Feng Jiu.

She frowned.

"Does it backfire you too? Did you lie to me?" She asked, concern filling her eyes.

"No, I mean it does backfire for every magic technique used here. But considering my cultivation. It's not really harmful to me," He said softly. That eased her tension and the smile returned to her face.

"Then please convert it." She motioned towards the silver that she spread out in front of them. Dong Hua narrowed his eyes at her making her smile even brighter.

"I simply can't," he said coolly.

"What kind of god are you?" She huffed. Anger filled her. How can her cuteness have no effect on him? She pouted and she walked into the kitchen and took out various ingredients she had brought from her bag and put them on the slab.

Honestly, it would save her a lot of time if he just did that, and she could immediately spend her money. But he just won't do it for her while being the only person who could actually use powers here.

"Just sell your silver and gold coins," he said sipping into his tea, as he picked up a magazine from the table. Feng Jiu stared at him for a good two minutes and then snorted.

Petty God! Like I didn't know that. I just hadn't thought of that yet...Can't afford to waste his time. It was wrong of me to think highly of him.
