{23} Hundred Tales Palace

The Mortal Realm

A girl sat in meditation in a cave. She wore modern clothes. She was beautiful yet seemed to be kinda withered. Black veins immerged from her neck as she spat out a mouthful of blood. She coughed and continued on until the poison was suppressed. She opened her eyes and shivered. Grabbing her cardigan she walked outside of the cave which had been the only place where she found a perfect amount of spiritual energy floating. Although she wasn't able to use magic arts as it would backfire in the mortal realm. Thus she couldn't go deeper although the energy would have been much higher compared to the outer region. If a wild beast appeared she could only do what a human could. Even using the basic techniques would drain her because of the cold toxin which she had to refine every once a week.

It was no other than Ji Heng. She lived in a Villa in the nearby City and earned money by being a model. She didn't want to go back to the Demon Realm, not after Min Su died. She couldn't go back to her brother who was the reason Min Su killed herself and she jumped from the cliff. It was also a deep shock to her that the person she had loved all this time was a girl dressed as a boy, her bodyguard.

She had spent such good time with Min Su playing around in the demon lair. And there was also that clingy and silly demon lord somewhere in her memories, who would cling to her since she was small. All the happy memories with her brother. But she still didn't want to go back. But she didn't know where to even go so that she would be happy. But here she was at least at peace.

It had been years, at least in the mortal realm a lot of years. She had almost moved on and started her life here. She decided to live for another 100 years or so by changing identities. The mortals she met were no more than just mortals for her. She didn't have much contact with people except at work. She had accumulated a lot of wealth by living through a few lifetimes of pretending to be different mortals.

Although she had found joy in the mortal realm of some sort. She liked watching the fun series and the whole point of making amusement parks just to enjoy made her astonished. And how different were the pleasures the mortals sought? It all amazed her and yet made her feel a tinge of sadness. Even all the mortals around her were with friends and family and lovers. At the sight of a street where people talked together, ate together, and laughed together she felt a little lonely. Actually, a lot as she remembered her old days. The scenery wasn't too bad in the mortal realm compared to the demon realm but it indeed was shabby compared to the nine heavens. The negative point was that there were too much pollution and disturbances. But the hustling and bustling kinda prevented her from feeling lonely sometimes. It was also a thing she had gotten used to.

(NOTE; I'll be changing Ji Heng's personality a little. So she won't be another bitch obsessing over Dong Hua, Had them a lot, lmao.)

The nine heavens

"WHAT IT WAS FENG JIU HIGHNESS?" Stars lord Si Ming shouted in disbelief. Lian Song covered his ears.

"Yes, yes. Calm down will you?" he said. Lian Song had told Si Ming that the fairy Dong Hua carried into his room was none other than Bai Feng Jiu.

"It's impossible. Highness has moved on. It couldn't be Di Jun also fell in love with her..."

"He did. I'm sure." Lian Song said coolly.

"That just can't be true..." He mumbled totally shocked. The fate he read had been correct and couldn't be changed. As for this big change of Dong Hua noticing Feng Jiu, the only believable explanation was that their fate had changed or a mysterious thing had occurred which was causing their fate thread to hang right in between. If their fate was no longer determined by the heavens, there might be a chance.

He quickly rushed to Dong Hua's Palace and Prince Lian Song of course followed him. By the time they reached his palace Lian Song had asked Si Ming a lot of times. Finally, Si Ming told him the truth about Feng Jiu. Even the third prince was shocked by all this. Dong Hua wasn't inside so they decided to wait. As they waited together a butterfly landed on Lian Song's shoulder and a ray of golden sprinkles entered his forehead. Actually, the golden sprinkles were words transported by the little Shuo Hua butterfly. It was also a magical butterfly, like Mufeng.

After listening to them, Lian Song's eyes shined and a huge grin spread on his face along with a sliver of shyness.

"What's with the weird reaction?" Si Ming murmured.

"Hey, I have been summoned. But don't forget to call me when he comes back." Lian Song said as he turned and sped towards Cheng Yu's place, with a wide smile waving back at Si Ming in excitement. Si Ming shook his head. In all this hurry he had forgotten about their fate book so he decided to quickly bring it over to Dong Hua.

A few leaves whirled as the cold wind blew. They fell into the pond creating ripples in the water. Feng Jiu looked kind of lost in thought as she sat in the open pavilion with her head down. A melancholy feeling preceded over her. She felt so heavy, yet she didn't want to cry about such little things. Obviously, if Dong Hua had not been fate for her. He could have been fated for someone else she thought.

She took out a few bottles of peach wine and guzzled them all. She became a little tipsy but she stood up, a tear finally falling down her flushed cheeks. She wiped it away and looked around. She grinned in a drunken manner as she saw someone transformed into an aurora heading somewhere.

It must be some god.

She felt a little lightheaded but grabbed another three bottles and placed them in her bag. She didn't transform into Aurora but excitedly followed it. It seemed to be the only distraction for her in a whole two hours in which she sat alone and drank and thought. She blinked her eyes a few times and focused. As mischievous as she had been if she was in a good mood then also she would've followed the aurora.

The man transformed back into a man in Silver hair and a purple robe. Feng Jiu although felt only tipsy, she was actually drunk. She didn't recognize Dong Hua and followed him into a qaint looking place, on which it was written, HUNDRED TALES PALACE.

The place had a smell as if something had burnt into ashes in here, but there were no remains.

As Dong Hua stepped in, she followed and quickly hid behind a pillar the moment she saw Ye Hua, Ye Hua greeted Dong Hua. He had a self-confident and wise-looking manner but that didn't partake of arrogance. Both of them heard a little scuffle behind them. Dong Hua had already known it was Feng Jiu so he eyed Ye Hua to not mind. Ye Hua slightly nodded.

"Di Jun according to what you told me I did my investigation. But I think no one can see her place except her. We can only catch her when she comes out. And about this place, I just found it while investigating." Ye Hua said.

Dong Hua looked back through the corner of his eyes but then walked further in, into the main room. Feng jiu followed.

As they went deeper the smell became strong and Feng Jiu almost sneezed but she had to control it. There was a lot of hubbub but no one was visible. The language they spoke just felt like whispers.

"These are..." Ye Hua began to say astonished. While Feng stared at them.

"They are the souls she caught but couldn't absorb. I guess this was her last destination."

"The soul locking jade has a limit?" Ye Hua asked.

"Yes, It was destroyed and then reformed." He meant to say it wasn't as powerful as before.

"But these voices are difficult to understand. Are they still telling tales as they used to when they were alive?" Ye Hua thought out loud and then immediately turned to Di Jun.

Ye Hua wasn't as capable as Dong Hua but he was fairly powerful. After all, he was the twin of the God of War Mo Yuan who had been her wife's (Bai Qian) master. Though this case was his to solve now Dong Hua was involved because of Tang Yin. Dong Hua had told him everything and told him to eliminate her as soon as possible. He was more restless because Tang Yin could hurt Feng Jiu.

While Ye Hua hadn't been able to even enjoy his honeymoon. He was thinking of flying back to Nine heavens to meet Bai Qian for an hour but then he decided to focus on the case and then return to her with his whole heart. While he even started thinking of ways to send Li away so that he could spend some private time with Qianqian in advance. Li was right. His father was indeed crafty.

"It's a different language." Di Jun noticed.

"How could it be?"

"It's the language of snakes!"

Feng Jiu heard their words loud and clear. Shrieks and screams rang loud in her ear causing her to grab her head in pain. She fell to the ground as one of the blue lights approached her demanding help. Shouting, screaming all of them scattered near her begging her to hear their stories.

Ye Hua and Dong Hua looked back instantly. Founding Feng Jiu on the floor he quickly rushed to her and called "XiaoBai"

She didn't answer. Instead, she seemed to be calm. Her eyes near to being shut. She was too silent. It scared him for a moment but then he knew what was happening. Ye Hua looked at him with a frown.

"She can listen to the words. The souls have been stamped with her talisman thus they belong to the Five Vish Serpent clan. Only someone from them can relieve their souls who are locked here and she can too. Because she has Tang Yin's sacred stone." He said explaining to Ye Hua. "Let's wait for a while."

"The stone...Isn't it better if we remove it?" Ye Hua asked. It was indeed a matter of concern for nine Heavens and it included his wife's sister.

"The seal will be broken once she ascends. I asked about her trial. It is soon. If we do it at the wrong time it could harm her." He said, his gaze softened as he looked at her a little worried.

After time passed for an incense stick to burn the souls dispersed into the air and Feng Jiu looked like she was out of the hypnotic state. She was gloomy and then Ye Hua incited her to tell what she heard.

"They want revenge. I freed them so they can have a reincarnation. They were burned to death by...that woman. The woman Di Jun loves." She murmured as she collapsed. Dong Hua immediately caught her.

The woman I love? She seems to have a misunderstanding. he thought. Ye Hua was also speechless.

"She's drunk. That's why she passed out. She might not have heard us."

"I know. Even if she heard she wouldn't be able to figure it out," he said with a hint of a smile. He carried her in his hands and disappeared leaving with Ye Hua the task of dealing with Tang Yin. Knowing she was injured and after warning Ye Hua of her dark magic, he was a little firm about his victory although not sure.

Β He constantly worried about Feng Jiu too. Knowing her she wouldn't let him go to the mortal realm with her and he wasn't sure if Yan and Fang Lei could take care of her. Moreover, he didn't like that she spent a lot of time with them. Because in his mind, he had already set his heart on her.
