Biker Boy and the Bandages (2)

"O-kay, babe! When and where should we set up Mondo and Mikan together?" Kokichi asked Himiko at lunch over pizza bagel bites.

"Hm...I'm not sure," Himiko admitted. Suddenly, she looked at Kokichi as if she had an idea. But immediately after, her expression turned to one of guilt.

"What's on your miiiind, Monkey Buns?" Kokichi asked with a sly grin.

"Well..." Himiko began. "Remember how you ended up hurting Junko and Sayaka in order to infiltrate the cheerleading squad?"

"Uh-huuuuh..." Kokichi said, his smile growing wider.

"Um...I was thinking that...maybe we should kinda, maybe...hurt Mondo so that Mikan can heal him," Himiko finished. "But not to the point that he's in, like, really bad pain! Just...you know...an eensy-weensy bit of pain."

"M'kaaayy, and how do you suppose we go about doing that?" Kokichi asked, leaning back in his seat, curious to hear Himiko's thoughts.

"Nyeehh...um...I dunno," Himiko admitted, slumping her shoulders in shame.

"It's a good start, Himiko!" Kokichi said as he patted Himiko's hand encouragingly. "And I think you're on the right track!"

   "Nyeh?" Himiko breathed excitedly.

"Because I have gym with Mondo next period," Kokichi continued. "We're playing tennis today, and we have to pick partners. I'll choose him so I'm sure I can find some way to give him a reason to visit Mikan in the nurse's office. Also, your class next period is on the way to the nurse's office, so make sure to be on the lookout for us!"

"Okay!" Himiko exclaimed. Kokichi smiled at her and stroked her cheek affectionately. "But...how are you gonna convince Mondo to be your partner?"

"Eh, I'll come up with something," Kokichi replied nonchalantly. He reached down to his tray to grab another pizza bagel bite, but there weren't anymore.

"Aw, maaaaan! We ate 'em all already!" he whined. He looked across the cafeteria to see Mondo eating with Kiyotaka and Chihiro. A sneaky grin crossed his face. "Sit tight, Himiko. I'll be right back." Himiko nodded as Kokichi stood up and headed over to the trio. He grabbed a chair and sat right next to Mondo, grinning cheekily at him.

"Huh? Hey, what are you doin' here?!" Mondo exclaimed.

"Kokichi! It is extremely rude to barge in when someone is having a conversation!" Kiyotaka scolded.

"Yeah, yeah," Kokichi said, waving his hand dismissively. "Why don't you try lacing up that tongue of yours, Mr. Goody Two Shoes? Nagging isn't very healthy for the...sole! Nee-heehee!"

 "Ugh! Why..." Taka exclaimed, mortified.

"Hey, who the hell do you think you are, bargin' in on us like that?!" Mondo roared. Instead of answering him, Kokichi merely took a pizza bagel bite from Mondo's tray and popped it into his mouth. "HEY, YOU LI'L SHIT!!! WHAT DO YOU THINK YOU'RE DOIN' TAKIN' MY BAGEL BITES?!"

"Hm? I'm doing you a favor," Kokichi replied.

   "What?" Mondo asked.

"What favor do you mean, Kokichi?" Chiro inquired.

"Well, we're playing tennis in gym today, riiiight, Mondo?" Kokichi asked, popping another pizza bagel bite from Mondo's tray into his mouth.

"Ghgr...yeah, so what?!" Mondo demanded, snatching his tray from Kokichi.

"You don't want the pizza bagel bites to interfere with our tennis match, do you?" Kokichi asked, snatching the tray back.

   "Our  tennis match?!" Mondo asked.

"Yeah!" Kokichi nodded. "The others are sooo boring to play against! But, not you! I bet you make the game reeeaaally challenging! Heck, you're probably the best tennis player after Ryoma, and that's saying something!"

"W-Well...I wouldn't say all that," Mondo replied, modestly rubbing the back of his head.

"He is right, however!" Taka said. "Besides Ryoma and Kaito, you have excellent tennis skills, bro!"

"Seeee? Even Taka...your bro...agrees with me!" Kokichi said with a cheeky grin.

"That's fine, an' all, but that doesn't explain why you're stealin' my bagel bites!" Mondo growled.

"Liffen, Monfo," Kokichi said through a full mouth. He swallowed before continuing. "These pizza bagel bites are bad for your stomach. You wouldn't be able to play well if you suddenly got the tummy gurglies, you know!"

"Well, then, why the hell are you eatin' 'em, jackass?!" Mondo demanded.

"Well, I gotta eat something," Kokichi said. "Look at me, all skin and bone. To me, pizza bagel bites are more like a fuel source rather than a hinderance." He shoved another bagel bite in his mouth.

"Well, don't go horkin' 'em down!" Mondo said. "You're makin' me hungry all over again!"

"Sorry!" Kokichi replied cheekily. "What you need to stay in tiptop shape for today's game, Mondo, is a nice, healthy salad! Wouldn't you agree, Taka?"

"Kokichi is right!" Taka agreed. "I cannot just sit idly while you stuff your face with unhealthy amounts of grease, Mondo! Stay here, I will get you a salad right away!"

"Nah, man, you don't hafta-" Mondo began, but Taka was already halfway across the cafeteria. Mondo turned back to Kokichi, who was busy munching on the pizza bagel bites one after the other. Mondo sighed. "Okaaay, shit. I'll go up against you in tennis if it means that much to you."

"Thaaanks, Mondo!" Kokichi replied. "I knew you were my favorite!"

   "WHAT?!" Mondo roared.

"It's okay, Mondo," Chihiro laughed. "I'm sure he said that to get a reaction out of you."

"What? Is that right, Kokichi?" Mondo asked.

"Nee-heehee...yup! Chihiro was right! It was a lie!" Kokichi replied. "Good eye, Chihiro! I can always count on you to be the brains in this group!"

"HEY!! WHAT'S THAT SUPPOSED TO MEAN, ASSHOLE?!" Mondo roared. Laughing impishly, Kokichi slinked off with Mondo's tray back to Himiko, who had been waiting patiently for Kokichi to return.

"Nyeh...were you able to convince him?" Himiko asked. Kokichi kissed her cheek as he set Mondo's tray in front of her.

"Nee-heehee...he didn't stand a chance!" Kokichi replied triumphantly, popping another pizza bagel bite into his mouth.

After lunch period, Kokichi separated from Himiko to go to gym. He changed into his gym clothes, thinking of ways he could possibly hurt Mondo without doing it too badly. He thought of one way, but it was something really difficult. He ended up going with that plan while thinking of backups, just in case.

"Okay, pick your partners!" the gym teacher yelled after blowing the whistle. Kokichi immediately rushed over to Mondo so nobody else would get to him first.

"Hey, Mondo, wanna be my part-OOF!!!" Nagito began, but Kokichi shoved him out of the way.

"Out of the way, Hope Boy!" he said.  He stopped in front of Mondo, crossing his arms. "Nee-heehee...welp, looks like it's just me and you, Papa Wheelie!"

"'Papa Wheelie?'" Mondo asked in surprise. Then, a small blush of appreciation formed on his cheeks. "Hey, that's uh...actually pretty good," he admitted.

"I'm glad you think so!" Kokichi replied with a cheeky grin. "Cool biker guys like you deserve cool nicknames, don'tcha think?"

"I guess," Mondo replied with uncertainty. "An' why are you bein' so nice to me? Are you tryin' to butter me up, or somethin?'"

"Whaaat? Of course noooot!" Kokichi replied with a seemingly innocent smile. I might as well be, given how toast you are, he thought afterwards, smiling mischievously to himself. "Aaanyhoo, let's go play tennis! I bet I could beat you!"

"Ah, so you're basically pumped up, huh?" Mondo asked as a smile spread across his face.

  "Yup!"

"Alright, then! Get ready, you li'l shit, cuz I'm gonna give it my all!" Mondo replied.

"Yipeee!! Me, too!" Kokichi said eagerly. The students made their way to the tennis courts outside. "Mind if I serve?" Kokichi asked.

"Nah, go right ahead, man!" Mondo asked. Kokichi nodded, and threw the ball into the air before striking it. They went back and forth a couple of times, making it seem like a normal game...which is what Kokichi wanted. He remembered a technique Ryoma had taught him one time that included striking the ball in a way to make it curve. Kokichi did just that. He positioned himself just right, and struck the ball. At first, it soared through the air away from Mondo. However, the ball curved its way towards him, specifically his face!

"AAAUUGHHHH...DAMMIT!!!" he screeched, dropping his tennis racket, and reaching for his eye.

"Yes!" Kokichi cheered under his breath. Then he changed his expression to a concerned one. "Oh, my! Oh, no! Dearest Mondo, are you okay?!" he asked, running over to him. "Oh, gosh! What a tragedy! I didn't mean to hurt you!" Other students began to crowd around them.

   "Grr...it's okay," Mondo strained. "I'm...f-fine."

"Oh, thank heavens!" Kokichi continued, dramatically putting his arm over his head. "I thought you were seriously hurt! Oh, gee willikers, I'm such a clumsy fool! Ooo, I know! I'll take you to the nurse's office to see Mikan! Don't worry, Mondo! You should change your name to Allstate, cuz you're in good hands!" He helped Mondo to his feet and helped him back into the gym and through the halls of the school. He passed Himiko's class, and strained his neck to see if she had been watching. They spied each other, and Kokichi nodded at her, signaling for her to leave the classroom.

"Nyeh...excuse me?" Himiko asked, raising her hand. "May I go to the bathroom? It's an emergency."

"Go ahead," the teacher nodded. Himiko leaped out of her chair and ran out of the classroom. Himiko caught up to Mondo and Kokichi.

"Oh, my! Mondo? Kokichi? What are you two doing here?" Himiko asked, trying to sound innocent.

"Huh? Oh, hey, Li'l Red," Mondo grumbled, holding his eye.

  "What happened?" Himiko asked.

"Oh, I accidentally hit Mondo in his eye with a tennis ball," Kokichi replied with a discreet wink. Himiko slowly nodded.

"Ooohhh...nyeh...that's too bad," Himiko replied. "I'll help you, too, Mondo!"

"Wh-What? C'mon, you don't hafta do all that," Mondo said.

"It's no trouble at all," Himiko said. "Besides, Kokichi and I always work together...riiiight, Kokichi?" She winked at him. He smiled and winked back at her.

"That's right!" he replied. "With my and Himiko's help, Mondo, you'll be feeling better in no time!"

"Nyeh...that's right!" Himiko agreed, nodding her head.

"Well, it is nice havin' you two little weirdos lookin' after me," Mondo admitted. "But seriously, I'm not worried at all. I've had worse injuries than this."

"Hmhm...it's not the injuries we're talking about," Kokichi muttered under his breath that only he and Himiko heard. They shared mischievous grins at their plan that was going smoothly.

   "What was that?" Mondo asked.

"Ooohhh, nothing," Kokichi replied cheekily. They finally arrived at the nurse's office, where Mikan sat at her desk doing homework. This period was her free time, and she spent it in the nurse's office in case anyone needed her help. "Mikaaaan...you have a patient!" Kokichi sang.

"Aaahh...Mondo! What happened to your eye?!" Mikan asked, jumping up immediately to tend to his injury.

"It's nothin,'" Mondo shrugged. "Kokichi accidentally hit me with a tennis ball."

"O-Okay! H-Hang on! I'll get you s-something for your eye right away!" Mikan said, rushing over to a freezer for some ice.

"Welp, I guess Himiko and I will leave you in Mikan's care, now," Kokichi said to Mondo. Mondo smiled at them.

"Thanks for helpin' me out," he said.

"Nooo problem!" Kokichi and Himiko replied in unison, giving Mondo a thumbs-up and a wink. They exited the nurse's office and stood on tiptoes to peek through the window. They could see Mikan gently pressing a pack of ice against Mondo's eye.

"H-Here, hold it up to your eye," she said.

"AUGHH!! Shit, that hurts!" Mondo groaned in pain.

"You have to do it gently," Mikan said. "Here, like this." She grabbed Mondo's hand, slightly lifting it from his eye so as not to put too much pressure on it.

   "Thanks," Mondo said.

   "Y-You're welcome," Mikan replied.

"How long am I supposed to keep this on?" Mondo asked.

"Well, um...let me see your eye," Mikan replied. Mondo lowered the ice pack from his eye and stared straight into Mikan's eyes. Mikan gasped sharply, feeling her heart skip a beat. Mondo even surprised himself at how long he was staring at her.

   "Um...M-Mikan?" he stammered.

"Kyaahh!" Mikan exclaimed, snapping to attention as she blushed. "I-I'm sorry! Um...your eye doesn't look too bad! Matter of fact, your eyes are really pretty! I mean...NO, THAT'S NOT WHAT I MEAN!! I mean, they are pretty, but about your injury, it doesn't look too bad, even if your eyes look pretty, and..and...WHY DO I KEEP SAYING THAT?!?! P-Please, forgive me!" Mondo chuckled and shook his head.

"So you get nervous, too, huh?" he asked quietly.

   "N-Nervous? A-About what?" Mikan stammered.

"Nothin,'" Mondo replied with a shrug as a small blush formed on his cheeks. "Don't worry about it." He looked up at Mikan again. "Hey, how am I supposed to put this ice pack to my face again?" he asked.

"L-Like this," Mikan replied, taking Mondo's hand that was holding the ice pack, and gently lifting it to his face. Mikan found herself holding onto his hand, which felt warm and comforting, despite the ice pack. She spied his other eye staring at her, making her heart leap. A smile formed on Mondo's lips, causing Mikan to blush deeper. Mikan slowly let go of his hand and shyly smiled back at him. They stood there in the nurse's office, staring and smiling at each other. Kokichi and Himiko smiled at each other and shared a triumphant kiss.

"Looks like they got somethin' going on, Monkey Buns!" Kokichi whispered.

"Yeah!" Himiko replied before smiling mischievously. "Let's have fun with this! Mwa-hahahahaha!!"
