Shuichi Saihara, Where Are Ya? (14)

Later that night, everyone was getting settled for bed in the living room while Bessie and Barty went upstairs to go to sleep. A few rumbles of thunder echoed in the distance through the night sky.

"What about Finnigan O'Malley?" Fred's voice floated through the dark. "Do you think it could have been him?"

"I don't know, Fred," Velma replied. "I don't think O'Malley would drill a hole in his own boat just so he could frame a tourist and close the beach down."

"Then, that would leave Ivana," Daphne said. "After all, she does want to sell this place so badly. Maybe she's trying to scare Barty and Bessie away by dressing up as Barracuda Blatherskite."

"But, if that's the case, where would they have Shuichi hidden?" Shaggy asked.

   "Reah!" Scooby nodded in thought.

"Good question," Velma said thoughtfully. "Kokichi, Himiko, what do you guys think?" Kokichi was too busy looking around the room in a pensive manner. Himiko tugged on his sleeve, which caught his attention. He turned to the others.

"Hm? Oh, I'm sorry! What were we talking about?" he asked with a cheeky grin.

"You know, for someone whose friend is in trouble, you don't seem too worried," Daphne said, raising a suspicious brow. Kokichi smiled and shrugged.

"Nee-heehee...that's because I'm not," he simply replied. The others' mouths hung agape in shock.

"Like, that's pretty cold, man!" Shaggy said.

"How could you not be worried about Shuichi?" Daphne asked. "Isn't he your friend?"

"Unless...you already know where he is," Velma deduced, folding her arms.

"Ding-ding-ding, Dinkley!" Kokichi exclaimed. "That's correct!"

"Then why did you lie about not knowing where he was?" Fred asked in annoyance. "Why didn't you just say where he is, instead of having us stay here another night?" Before Kokichi could answer, the front door to the lighthouse was thrown open.

   "BLAAARRRGGGGHHHHHH!!!" roared Baracuda Blatherskite.

"Ruh-roh!" Scooby yelped, jumping into Shaggy's arms.

   "Z-Z-Zoinks! It's the Jolly Ro-jerk!" Shaggy exclaimed.

   "Jeepers!" Daphne exclaimed.

   "Jinkies!" Velma cried.

"Plonkers!" Kokichi shrieked with a large grin.

"Yikers!" Himiko screeched, covering her eyes with her hands. The others turned to look quizzically at Kokichi and Himiko.

   "'Plonkers? '" Daphne asked.

   "'Yikers? '" Velma said.

"Hey, we wanted dorky-sounding catchphrases, too!" Kokichi huffed. "Besides, we didn't wanna be left out, like...NO-CATCHPHRASE-FRED!!! Mwa-hahahahahaaaa!!" Fred narrowed his eyes angrily at Kokichi.

"GET OOOUUUUUUT!!!" Barracuda Blatherskite roared again, taking large, lumbering steps into the living room.

"Let's get out of here!" Fred said. Everyone stood up and started running around. Kokichi grabbed onto Himiko's hand and pulled her along.

"Yipeeeee!!! This is the chase montage, Himiko!" Kokichi said, leaping for joy as Barracuda Blatherskite gained on them.

"Nyeh...I wonder what song would be playing in the background right now," Himiko thought out loud. Kokichi paused, holding his hand out to Barracuda Blatherskite, who stopped and stared at them in confusion.

"Hmm..." Kokichi mumbled, tapping his chin in thought. "What song would you want playing in the background, HimiKibbles 'n' Bits?"

"Nyeh...I'm not sure," Himiko admitted thoughtfully. "How about a song similar to the ones from A Pup Named Scooby-Doo, where they sing about the monster itself while everyone's being chased around?"

"Ooo! Ooo! And we can dance in the middle of the chase scene, too, just like they do!" Kokichi said.

"I like it!" Himiko replied, thrusting her hands on her hips.

"Okie-dokie! Lemme break out the record player!" Kokichi said. He stretched his body in a cartoony way and pulled out a record player from a nearby room. He placed the needle on the disc, and music started playing.

  Doo-doo-doo-doo-doo-doo-Scooby-Doo...ooo, ooo! Ooo, ooo!

  Doo-doo-doo-doo-doo-doo-Scooby-Doo, ooo, ooo!

Down at the beach by the spooky sea,

Lives a freaky fisherman as salty as can be!

He's a big, scary guy from the ocean blue!

With a hook for a hand and a ghostly wail,

   He's comin' after yoooouuuu!

   Barracuda, Barracuda Blatherskite (Blatherskite)!

Chasin' you all day and even into the night (Into the night)!

You'll keep on running 'til you're sure you're gonna die with fright (That's right)!

That's what you get for messin' with...Barracuda Blatherskite!

  Doo-doo-doo-doo-doo-doo-Scooby-Doo...ooo, ooo! Ooo, ooo!

  Doo-doo-doo-doo-doo-doo-Scooby-Doo, ooo, ooo!

As Kokichi, Himiko, and the others ran through the hallway, they ran through doors on one side of the hallway while exiting doors from the other side of the hallway. Kokichi and Himiko even stopped to do their own dance, like they did on A Pup Named Scooby-Doo, with Kokichi doing the Hammer dance, and Himiko doing the Running Man.

When you smell the salty air, you know that he's nearby

You try to run and you try to hide,

But you can't escape Barracuda's eeeye!

Yeah, that's what you get for messin' wiiiith...Barracuda Blatherskite!

The song ended with Kokichi, Himiko, and the others being chased outside of the lighthouse with Barracuda Blatherskite right behind them. Fred started up the Mystery Machine and drove towards him. Barracuda Blatherskite skidded to a stop, then immediately turned around and began running away. Fred rammed into Barracuda Blatherskite, sending him hurtling towards the air and disappearing into the ground where the manhole was.

"Like...he just disappeared!" Shaggy exclaimed incredulously.

"Yeah, where'd he go?" Daphne asked, looking around.

"Hey! What's going on here?" Barty asked as he rushed out. "I heard screaming, so I thought I'd come out here, and...hey...hey, where's my sister?! Bess! BESS!!"

"Maybe Kokichi and Himiko would like to tell us?" Velma asked, crossing her arms and frowning at the two. Everyone else looked at them with expectant expressions.

"Nee-heehee...Velma...why are you so suspicious of Himiko and me?" Kokichi asked.

"It seems you know a lot about what's going on around here," Velma replied. "So just tell us already!"

"Mmm...okay!" Kokichi replied. "But, first, we need a plan!"

  "A ran?" Scooby asked. "Rut...rhy?"

"To catch Barracuda Blatherskite, of course!" Kokichi replied. "If we can do that, then I'll explain everything that's going on around here!"

"Well, count me in!" Fred said. "I'm the one who comes up with the plans! Okay, gang, here's what we do. We-"

"Nah," Kokichi interrupted, waving his hand dismissively. "I've got a better idea."

"Oh? Well...what is it?" Fred muttered reluctantly.

"Fred, do you have a large mattress thingy inside the Mystery Machine, or anything large enough to cushion a fall from a great height?" Kokichi asked.

   "Um...yeeeaahhh...why?" Fred responded.

"Just wondering," Kokichi said. He then turned to Shaggy and Scooby. "You two, this is your lucky day! For once, you don't have to be the bait!"

"Like, didja hear that, Scoob? For once, we don't have to be on the hook end of the fishing line this time!" Shaggy said.

"Phew!" Scooby said, sighing in relief. Kokichi walked up to them, smiling.

"And you know what? I'll even give you guys a box of Scooby Snax, just because," he said, handing them a Scooby Snax box. Shaggy and Scooby's eyes widened.

"Wowee! Not only do we not have to be the bait, but we get a bribery-free box of Scooby Snax!" Shaggy exclaimed, grabbing the box. "Like, wow, you're a pretty cool guy, Kokichi!"

"Reah! Ris is the rest ray of my rife!" Scooby said as he and Shaggy gulped down some Scooby Snax. Kokichi gave Fred a bratty grin. Fred glared at him.

"So, if Shaggy and Scooby aren't going to be the bait in your plan, who is?" Daphne asked Kokichi.

"Lemme guess...me? " Fred muttered testily.

"Pffft...always a glory hog, aren't you, Fred?" Kokichi said with an evil smirk. "Of course not! Himiko and I are gonna be the bait!"

   "Nyeh?!" Himiko exclaimed incredulously.

"A-Are you sure you're okay with lettin' this kid be the bait?" Barty asked Fred.

"Why not?" Kokichi asked Barty with a sneaky grin. "Don't you wanna get rid of Barracuda Blatherskite and find your sister?"

   "Well, yeah, but..." Barty began.

"Okie-dokie, then! C'mon, Himiko!" Kokichi said. "Fred, make sure you get that mattress you have ready to go. Leave it out right in front of the lighthouse."

"Um...whatever you say," Fred muttered. Kokichi took Himiko's hand in his.

"Let's go, HimiCocoa Bean!" he said, and led her inside the lighthouse while the others waited outside.
