Kokichi and Himiko's Great Penguin Rescue (16)

The walk up the hill was easier, thanks to Himiko's magic, but the more she used her magic to control the snow, the more she felt drained. Though she needed to focus all her magic on the snow, she desperately wanted something to take her mind off of her draining powers. Something to make the grueling journey go faster.

"How are you feeling, Himiko?" Kokichi whispered.

"Yeah...I'm good..." Himiko panted. Kokichi didn't say anymore. He knew Himiko was already expending so much of her energy and magic. "Kokichi...I need...a distraction. Please."

"Okay," Kokichi whispered. He turned to the others behind him, forcing a smile on his face. "Hey, guys! Wanna sing a song while we pass the time?"

"Ooo! Ooo! I know the perfect song!" Four said.

"Oh, brother," Six muttered under his breath.

   "C-A-M-P-F-I-R-E-S-O-N-G SONG!" Four sang.

"NO!!" the others shouted in annoyance.

"Okay, okay!" Four said. "Pffft...I don't hear anyone else coming up with anything."

   "I've got something," Ten said.

"What is it?" asked Two. Ten smiled and cleared his throat.

"I have a structured settlement and I need cash now!" he sang. Two and Three smiled and joined in.

"Call J.G. Wentworth, 877-CASH-NOW!!" they sang.

"I have an annuity but I need cash now!" Five sang.

   "Call J.G. Wentworth, 877-CASH-NOW!" everyone sang. "877-CASH-NOW!"

"They've helped thousands, they'll help you, too-oo!" Nine sang.

"One lump sum of cash they will pay to you," Three and Four continued.

"If you get long term payments but you need cash now," Seven mumbled monotonously.

"Call J.G. Wentworth, 877-CASH NOW!" everyone sang.

   "877-CASH-NOW!" Ten bellowed.

   "877-CASH-NOW!" Three chirped.

   "877-CASH-NOW!" Two crooned.

"It's your money! Use it when you need it!" Four said goofily.

"Call J.G. Wentworth, 877-CASH-NOOOOW! Call now!" everyone sang, finishing the song.

"Hahahaha, I love that song!" Four laughed gleefully. Shortly after, they finally made it to the top of the slope.

"Yaaay! We made it!" Three said. "It's all thanks to the power of commercial jingles! Oh! And Himiko, too!" Feeling faint, Himiko fell to her knees.

"Himiko!" Kokichi breathed, kneeling next to her and placing his hands on her shoulders to steady her.

"Whoa! Is she okay?" Six asked.

"Can you keep going, Himiko?" Kokichi whispered. Himiko moaned as she rubbed her head. She felt exhausted.

"Yeah..." she said, slowly standing up on wobbly knees. Kokichi held tight to her.

"Well, the snow isn't as deep up here," he said. He then pointed to an enormous, frozen lake in front of them. "There's the lake right there! And the mountain is just right across! We can make it, Himiko!"

"Yeah...okay..." Himiko murmured with a faint smile.

"C'mon, you guys! Let's go!" Kokichi said to everyone as he helped Himiko to the lake. As they reached the shores of the lake, Himiko fell back down to her knees.

"I-Is Himiko going to be okay?" Five asked.

"I'm...fine..." Himiko answered. Kokichi helped her back up. "Nyeh...we have to...cross this lake..."

"You mean...we're going to walk on it?!" Six asked incredulously. "Why not walk around it?"

"It'll be easier...to walk across..." Himiko insisted. She lifted her wobbly leg and was about to step onto the ice, when Kokichi suddenly stopped her.

"Himiko...you've done enough," he said firmly.

"No...we have to get across...now," Himiko rasped with an urgent tone in her voice. "I...want to get to there...right now..." Kokichi sighed.

"Alright, but, you're not walking," he said. "Takehiko, give Himiko a lift!"

"On it!" Ten said, scooping Himiko into his arms. "Pardon me, Supreme Lady." Kokichi grabbed a nearby stick and tapped on the frozen lake. When he was confident that the ice would hold, he took a deep breath and turned to the others.

"We're going across the lake," he said. "But, we're not going to walk. We're going to crawl across. We just need some sharp objects to keep a firm hold of the ice."

"I brought some extra butter knives!" Ten said. Everyone stared at him with a strange look. "What? It was just so everybody could spread their favorite condiments on their sandwiches without having to share knives! Jeez!" Gently lowering Himiko to the ground, Ten reached into his coat to give everyone a butter knife. Then, afterwards, he lowered himself so that he could give Himiko a piggyback ride.

"This'll do," Kokichi said, observing the knife. "Stay close to each other, and follow me." He lowered himself onto the ice so that his belly was rubbing against it. He then dug his knife into the ice, not so much as to crack it, but deep enough to keep himself from drifting away. He crawled a few steps forward, tapping the stick against the ice every now and then to make sure the ice in front of him wasn't too thin. He waved for the others to follow him. Soon, everyone was crawling on the ice, using their butter knives to help them crawl. Pinkwin slid from Himiko's arms and onto the ice, happy to be back in his element.

   "Wheeeee!!" he squealed.

"Nyeh...Pinkwin..." Himiko called out weakly. "Come...back..." But Pinkwin didn't hear her. He kept sliding around on his belly.

"Awww, look at Pinkwin, sliding on his little belly!" Three gushed.

"What?!" Kokichi exclaimed, looking behind him. Pinkwin slid right up next to Kokichi. "Pinkwin, go back to Himiko!" Kokichi said. But because Pinkwin couldn't understand him, he merely stared at Kokichi with bright, happy eyes. "Urghh...Pinkwin! Go...back...to...Himi-"

"WHOA!! THERE'S A BIG, BLACK THING MOVING UNDER THE ICE!!" Four exclaimed, pointing past Kokichi. Kokichi looked ahead of him to see that Four had spoken the truth. A dark object was moving straight towards them, like a missile.

"Oh, shit," Kokichi breathed in horror. Like a rocket shooting into the sky, a leopard seal broke through the surface of the ice.

"AAAAHHHH!!! MANATEE!!!" Five screamed. The leopard seal began sliding its way towards Pinkwin with hungry and eager eyes.

"PINKWIN!!" Himiko screamed, sliding off of Ten's back. Pinkwin tried to slide as fast as he could to avoid the leopard seal, but the leopard seal was too fast. It clamped its jaws onto one of Pinkwin's feet, causing Pinkwin to cry out in pain. Himiko began desperately crawling her way towards the leopard seal.

"HIMIKO!!!" Kokichi screamed. Pinkwin was trying desperately to escape the leopard seal's grasp, but its grip was too tight. Suddenly, Pinkwin felt the seals jaws clamp around his tiny body. Pinkwin's eyes shot wide open with fear, panic, and pain as he felt himself being dragged away towards the hole where the leopard seal first came out of.

"PINKWIN!!!" Himiko screamed again, tears flowing from her eyes. She rushed to her feet and jumped at the leopard seal, latching onto its back flippers. Carrying Pinkwin in its jaws, and with Himiko grabbing its tail, the leopard seal disappeared through the hole, and into the icy depths below.
