What's Behind the Mask? (1)

Himiko was in her secret magic room beneath Casa V3's backyard gazebo. She was stirring a sparkling, golden liquid in her cauldron, when Kokichi came down the steps into the room.

"A-ha! There you are, Himiko!" he said. He walked over to her and gave her a juicy smooch on her cheek.

"Gross," Himiko said, wiping her cheek.

   "Heeeey...don't wipe it!" Kokichi pouted.

"Nyeeeh...well, don't make your kisses so slobbery next time!" Himiko said.

"Fine," Kokichi said, folding his arms. "You're never gonna get a kiss from me ever again if you keep acting like a meanie."

"Okay, okay!" Himiko said. "You can kiss me, but next time, just don't make it so slobbery." Kokichi sighed dramatically.

"Okaaaay...fiiiiiine," he said. "I'm sowwy." He smiled flirtatiously at her as he pressed his forehead against hers. Himiko smiled back and blushed as Kokichi gave her a soft kiss on her lips. "So...what'cha makin,' Monkey Buns?"

"I'm making a few extra healing elixirs," Himiko answered. "My sisters are coming over for winter break, and I wanna make sure I have an elixir ready in case something goes wrong."

"Niiiice! Look at you being a good big sister!" Kokichi said.

"Yeah, well, I remember what you said about me being the best big sister I can be for my little sisters, so that's what I'm trying to do," Himiko replied. Kokichi smiled at her, impressed.

"Way to think ahead, HimiCocoa Bean!" he said proudly. Himiko smiled bashfully at him in return.

"Well, I learned from the best," she replied. "You're always thinking ahead yourself, so I thought that as your Supreme Lady, I should do the same." Kokichi smiled affectionately and stroked her cheek. Himiko smiled before pouring the golden elixir into a few small bottles. She then placed the bottles into her hat, then placed her hat onto her head.

"Hey, how do the bottles just...disappear into your hat?" Kokichi asked.

"Maaaagic," Himiko said wiggling her fingers mysteriously.

"Yeah, but, like...where do they go, exactly?" Kokichi pressed.

"Nyeh...a mage never reveals her secrets," Himiko replied with a sly grin.

"Fair enough!" Kokichi replied with a cheeky grin. "So...how do you plan on spending time with your sisters?"

"I don't know, honestly," Himiko admitted. "I want this time to be more exciting. Maybe we can watch scary movies late at night, or something. That might help me get closer to my sisters because they'll want me to protect them from monsters."

"Nee-heehee...even though you don't like scary movies?" Kokichi teased.

"I...I gotta face my fears sometime," Himiko pointed out nervously. "But the thought of it kinda makes me wanna puke."

"Welp, if you're really sure about that, Himiko," Kokichi replied. "Actually, that sounds not so boring! Maybe a scary, thrilling night is what your sisters need! Aaanyhoo, ready to go back up?"

"Yeah," Himiko replied. Kokichi intertwined his pinky with Himiko's, and the two headed up the stairs and out of the secret magic room. They entered through the back door of the house, where they nearly bumped into Maki.

"There you guys are," she said.

"You need us, Maki?" Himiko asked.

"Your little sisters are at the front door," Maki replied to Himiko.

"Oh!" Himiko exclaimed. She and Kokichi rushed over to the foyer to greet Himiko's sisters. They saw the younger sisters with their suitcases, chattering away to each other and laughing. "Nyeh...hey, guys!" Himiko's sisters turned to her.

"KOKICHIIIIIII!!!!" Kimiko, Himiko's seven-year-old sister, shouted with glee, and ran up to Kokichi to give him a big hug. Kokichi hugged her back.

"Hahaha, you know you're supposed to hug your sister first, Kimiko," he said.

"Nyeeeh...d'okaaaay!" Kimiko replied goofily. She turned to Himiko. "HIMIIIIII!!!!" She gave Himiko a big hug.

"Nyeh...hi, Kimiko," Himiko said, hugging her back. Kimiko looked up at Himiko.

"Can I go back to hugging Kokichi, now?" she asked. Himiko felt her annoyance rising. She looked to Kokichi, who could sense her becoming agitated. Kokichi raised his eyebrows and gave her a pointed look, indicating to her to watch her temper. Himiko nodded and smiled at Kimiko.

   "Well...okay," she said.

"Promise you won't get mad?" Kimiko asked. Himiko sighed.

"Nyeeeh...I promise," she replied. "I'm too tired to get angry, anyways." Even though she didn't mean it, Himiko actually did feel calmer after saying that. "But, don't hog him too much."

"Yaaaay!! I won't!" Kimiko replied. She went back over to Kokichi and hugged him. Kokichi chuckled at her as he playfully ruffled her hair. Next, it was Himiko's turn to hug her thirteen-year-old sister, Tomiko. She was wearing a denim jacket over a cream-colored dress with a three-layered ruffled skirt. On her feet were a pair of cowgirl boots, and her hair was done up in a half ponytail.

"I see you're going for the 'country look,'" Himiko said, giving Tomiko a hug.

"Yeah," Tomiko replied with a small shrug. "I'm just...experimenting with my style."

"You look cute," Himiko replied genuinely. Tomiko gave her a small smile.

"Thanks," she replied. Himiko nodded in response.

"Well, ain't ye gonna give yer brother-in-law a huuug?" Kokichi asked in a Southern accent. Tomiko smiled and rolled her eyes as she gave Kokichi a hug.

"Nyeh...hi, Kokichi," she said. Kokichi chuckled as he hugged her back.

"Hahaha, hey, kiddo!" he replied in his normal voice. They pulled away. "What'cha been up to?"

"Just the same old," Tomiko answered.

"Hangin' in there?" Kokichi asked, patting her shoulder comfortingly. Tomiko smiled gratefully and nodded. She remembered fondly the conversation between her and Kokichi the day they first met. Kokichi had encouraged her to stand up to some girls who were giving her a hard time at school. "That's good," Kokichi said with a smile.

"Himi, I'm hungry," Kimiko groaned, still clinging on to Kokichi.

"You two didn't eat before you came here?" Himiko asked.

"No, mommy made us leave first thing in the morning," Tomiko answered. "She said she and Grammy couldn't wait to go to Mystical Beach, so she wanted to get us out of there fast."

"Nyeh...that woman, I swear," Himiko mumbled, shaking her head.

"Where's Mystical Beach?" Kokichi asked. "I've never heard of that place."

"That's because it's a vacation spot for mages," Himiko replied. She turned to her sisters. "Well, what do you guys wanna eat?"

"Ooo! Ooo! I want a cheeseburger! I want a cheeseburger!" Kimiko shouted excitedly.

"Since when do you get excited over cheeseburgers?" Himiko asked, raising an eyebrow. "I thought you and your best friend, Izumi liked eating pizza together. That was your guys' 'best friend food.'" Kimiko thrust her hands onto her hips and pursed her lips.

"Izumi isn't my friend, anymore," she pouted. Himiko's eyes bugged out.

"She's not?! " she exclaimed. "But, you've been best friends ever since you both started preschool!"

"Nyeh...that boneheaded back-stabber wanted to be Ami's friend just because I said that dress she was wearing was uglier than a diseased hippo's butt!" Kimiko huffed.

"Oh? You didn't lie?" Kokichi asked as a devious grin formed on his face. Himiko smacked his arm admonishingly before turning to Kimiko.

"Kimiko, why would you say that?!" she said.

"Well, the girl asked me if I liked her dress, and I told her what I thought of it," Kimiko replied sassily. "What, are you not supposed to tell your best friend the truth?"

"N-Not like that!" Himiko replied. "You could have told her in a nicer way!"

"Or you could have liiiied," Kokichi muttered innocently under his breath. Himiko smacked him again.

   "Stop it, Kokichi!" she scolded.

"Whaaaat? If she did lie, she would still have her best friend, y'know!" Kokichi said with a cheeky grin. Kimiko removed a nail filer from the pocket of her hoodie and began filing her nails nonchalantly.

"Well, what's done is done," she said. "I don't have a friend, anymore, and so now I like cheeseburgers, instead of stinky, yucky pizza! Meeeeh!" Himiko sighed.

"Well, okay, then," she said. "Tomiko, do you want a cheeseburger, too?"

   "Yeah, that's fine," Tomiko replied.

"Okay, take your suitcases upstairs, while I go ask Kirumi to make your cheeseburgers," Himiko replied.

"No, I'll take care of their suitcases, Monkey Buns," Kokichi offered. "You guys can go wait in the dining hall while Kirumi makes the cheeseburgers."

"Awww, thank you, Kokichi!" Himiko said, giving Kokichi a kiss on his cheek.

"Yeah, Kokichi! You're so sweet!" Kimiko said. She puckered her lips at him. Kokichi chuckled and held out his fist.

"Hahaha, how about a fist bump instead?" he said. Kimiko pouted as she gave Kokichi a half-hearted fist bump. "Aaaalrighty, then! Lemme deal with your suitcases," Kokichi said. He cleared his throat. "HEY, KEE-BOY!!!" he shouted. Keebo came scurrying into the foyer.

"What's going on?!" he asked in alarm. "I-Is there an earthquake?!"

"Nee-heehee...the only thing shaking around here will be your legs while you carry Himiko's sisters' suitcases up the stairs!" Kokichi replied with a cheeky grin.

"WHAT?! " Keebo shouted. But before he could protest, Kokichi shoved Tomiko's suitcase into his arms, with Kimiko's right on top. Keebo's legs were, indeed, shaking. "W-Why do I have to do this?"

"Because one day, robots will replace humans in the workplace, so you'd better get your ro-butt into shape!" Kokichi answered. "Move it, metal boy!"

"This is...ghgrr...robophobic..." Keebo strained under the weight of the suitcases. Keebo staggered towards the stairs, and with wobbly steps, began walking up the stairs to Himiko and Tenko's room.

"Well, that's that, I guess," Himiko said.

"Himi, was that guy really a robot?" Kimiko asked as she held onto Kokichi's hand.

"Yeah, he is," Himiko replied. "But, that's not the important thing right now. I'll go ask Kirumi to make your cheeseburgers. Kokichi will take you to the dining hall."

"Okie-dokie, Himikokie!" Kokichi replied. "Let's go, ladies!" Kokichi led Himiko's sisters to the dining hall, while Himiko went to ask Kirumi to make her sisters some cheeseburgers. Himiko then went back down to the kitchen to pour her sisters some soda. Then, she went to the dining hall to rejoin Kokichi and her sisters.

"Kirumi said she'll be down right away," Himiko said, placing the glasses of soda in front of her sisters. In a matter of seconds, Kirumi was in the kitchen, getting straight to work.

"Hey, who's Kirumi, anyways?" Kimiko asked, taking a sip of her soda.

"She's the Ultimate Maid," Himiko replied.

"Whoa...there's a maid here?" Tomiko asked.

"Not just a maid," Kokichi said. "The Ultimate Maid!"

"I just realized, of all the times we've been here, we didn't meet anyone else," Tomiko said. "What other ultimates live here?"

"Yeah! Like, who was that girl who answered the door for us?" Kimiko asked.

"And that robot guy?" Tomiko added.

"The robot you saw was Keebo, the Ultimate Robot," Kokichi answered.

     "Well...easy enough," Tomiko said.

"The girl who answered the door for you is named Maki," Himiko said. "She's the Ultimate Assassin." Tomiko stood up in fear, while Kimiko looked quizzically at her, then Himiko, then Kokichi.

"N-No! It's fine, Tomiko!" Himiko said, holding her hands up to calm her sister down. "You're not in danger."

"She's the Ultimate what?! A 'sasspin?! '" Kimiko asked, tilting her head in confusion. "What's a 'sasspin? '"

   "An assassin," Himiko corrected.

"Assassin," Kimiko repeated. "Yeah, what is that?"

"Nee-heehee...basically, it's her job to kill people," Kokichi replied with a cheeky grin. Himiko gave him an incredulous look.

"Oh..." Kimiko replied, taking another sip of her soda. "That girl is a weirdo." Kokichi smiled at Himiko and shrugged nonchalantly at her.

"Well, speaking of terrifying things, do you guys wanna watch scary movies tonight?" Himiko asked.

   "Scary movies?! Cool!" Kimiko exclaimed.

"As long as they're not too gory," Tomiko said.

"Don't worry. I'll make sure they're not," Himiko promised.

"I wonder what it's like to be in a scary movie," Kimiko said thoughtfully. A few minutes later, Kirumi came into the room carrying two plates of cheeseburgers and fries. She set them down in front of Tomiko and Kimiko.

"Please, let me know if you need anything else," she said politely.

    "Thank you," Tomiko said.

"Nyeh...Kimiko, what do you say?" Himiko scolded.

"Thank you, um...Kirhombus," Kimiko said with a full mouth.

    "Kirumi," Himiko hissed.

"Oh! Kirumiiii," Kimiko said, flashing a smile that showed of her bright blue braces full of mushy cheeseburger. Kirumi nodded to her in response and waited patiently in the corner of the dining hall, in case Himiko's sisters needed something else. After Kimiko finished, she looked at Himiko. "Himi, can I go to the bathroom? I have to pee."

"Ah, there's the family resemblance," Kokichi said, giving Himiko a playful smirk.

"Hush," Himiko said, smacking him with the back of her hand. "Nyeh...you know where the robot was walking up the stairs?" Kimiko nodded in response. "Well, the girls bathroom is upstairs, and you go to the far right. The bathroom is the very last door."

"'Kay," Kimiko replied, hopping down from her chair and walking out of the dining hall.

"Nyeh...I think I might take a nap after this," Tomiko sighed.

"Was it a long trip?" Kokichi asked.

"Yeah," Tomiko said. "And, like I said, we left really early in the morning, so I wasn't able to get enough sle-"

"AAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!" Tomiko was cut off by a high-pitched scream. Kokichi, Himiko, Tomiko, jumped up from their seats. Even Kirumi became alert.

"Kimiko!" Himiko breathed in fear. She was about to run out of the dining hall, when Kimiko came rushing past her and straight to Kokichi. She wrapped her arms around him in fear. "Kimiko! What happened?!" Himiko demanded.

   "I saw...I saw..." Kimiko stammered.

"You saw what, Kimiko?" Kokichi asked calmly, but firmly.

    "I SAW KUCHISAKE-ONNA!!" Kimiko cried.
