"I really hate to break up this adorable moment, but we all have to get to work," Caroline said, looking down at Lexie and Spencer entwined with each other on the couch. When neither woke up Caroline picked up a pillow and threw it on Lexie's head.

"C'mon I already put the coffee on," Caroline said walking back into the kitchen.

"God Caroline," Lexie said blinking to adjust to the light. Smiling when she realized she had snuggled up with Spencer all night.

"Spence, she's right, we gotta get up." She said sitting up and getting coffee. This wasn't the first time they fell asleep together on the couch, it was actually a weekly occurrence. Spencer came over to help Lexie, and even sometimes Caroline, study.

"Caroline better have made coffee." Spencer sighed also getting up. He and Lexie have been having their 'study dates' for over a month now. He still wasn't quite sure where he and Lexie stood. They occasionally had dinner or lunch dates, and he slept over a lot. They haven't kissed since their first date, let alone do anything else. He never officially asked her to be his girlfriend, but he knew he cared deeply for her and wanted her in his life.

"Don't worry Spencer, I'm the best roommate ever and coffee has been made," Caroline yelled from the kitchen.

Spencer, Lexie, and Caroline were quite the trio. Since Spencer was always sleeping over, they shared many breakfasts and dinners together. They quickly became friends. Caroline was easy to get along with, sometimes when Lexie was called in for an emergency at the hospital when Spencer was over, He and Caroline would have tea and talk about star wars or star trek.

"Alright love birds, I have early rounds, I'm out," Caroline said as she walked out the door, coffee cup in hand.

"Lex, can I ask you something?" Spencer asked looking at his coffee mug, he had his own at Lexie's house now since he didn't like sharing all those germs.

"Sure, what's up?" Lexie asked, her face behind her coffee cup.

Spencer moved to sit next to her at the bar and put his hands on hers's which were wrapped around her cup. He looked up into her eye and gave her a loving smile, he didn't know if he loved Lexie yet, but he knew he would someday soon.

"Spence, you're scaring me?" Lexie asked nervously, did he want to stop seeing her? She wasn't even sure if they were really dating, she wanted to stay with Spencer. She really hoped he wasn't stopping what they had.

"Don't be scared, I was just hoping you'd officially be my girlfriend." He smiled at her. A sudden burst of confidence taking over him.

"Oh!" Lexie sat up shocked, "Yes, yes of course I'll be your girlfriend Dr.Reid." She smiled. She was so glad he finally asked, Caroline was going to be so excited Lexie thought.

Spencer put his hand behind Lexie's hair pulling her lips onto hers, kissing her deeply. Lexie immediately kissed back, Spencer was an amazing kisser, she missed his lips on hers. Their mouths moved in sync with each other, the two only broke away to catch their breath.

"Shit!" Lexie exclaimed "It's 7:30! I have to shower!" She quickly kissed Spencer on the cheek and ran into her bedroom to grab jeans and one of Spencer's shirts, packing her scrubs in her work bag.

Spencer chuckled and put her coffee into a travel mug for her and jumped in the shower. He finished quickly and got dressed, his go-bag was thankfully still full so he had clean clothes. He got a cup of coffee to go and slipped his shoes on.

"Lexie we have to go!" He called for her from the front door. She was finishing putting her lunch of the day together. When she met him at the door he quickly pecked her lips and handed her her coffee. Lexie giggled and the two separated so they could each go to work for the day.

Spencer walked into the BAU and was immediately greeted by Gracia saying they had a case in New Mexico. He sighed and texted Lexie.

Spencer
Hey, I'm leaving for NM for a case, I'll call you tonight when I'm at the hotel. Have a good day.

He sat at the round table in this normal seat next to JJ. He was sad he wouldn't be able to eat dinner and be with Lexie tonight. His nights spent at Lexie's were some of the best moments of his life. He loved sitting on her couch eating chinese and laughing at Caroline's drunk slurred works. His teammates were his family, he loved them more than anything, now Lexie and Caroline were in his circle. They were a part of his family.

"Alright Crime Fighters, today were are flying to the land of Santa Fe, New Mexico." Gracia piped as she clicked to pictures of the crime scene. Photos of dead bodies filled the screen. "Four bodies have been found in large bodies of water, all died from being shot execution-style." Gracia cringed as she looked away from the screen.

"Forensic countermeasure," Emily stated.

The team consulted for a few more minutes until Hotch spoke up.

"Wheels up in 30."

"Charge to 200! Clear!" The patient's eyes flew open and he took a deep breath. "Thank god" Lexie breathed.

Lexie's shift started less than two hours ago, she already brought two patients back to life. She could tell this was going to be a long day.

She left for her boards in two weeks. She was more stressed than ever, she had memorized every flashcard Spencer or Caroline had shown her. She is more nervous to fly. She had not been on a plane since the crash. She shuddered at the thought, flying scared her more than anything, maybe she would call Meredith and ask her for advice.

"Grey! Massive trauma in the pit!" She whipped her head around and started jogging to the pit in hopes of getting a good case. She gowned and gloved up, ready to meet the ambulances. Caroline soon joined her in the ambulance bay.

The two jogged up to the first ambulance that parked since Lexie was chief resident she got any case she wanted.

"GSW to the chest and right thigh. He coded on the way here, but he's stable now." Lexie nodded at the EMT and rolled the man inside the hospital.

"Alright I need a chest tube and he needs to go to-" She was interrupted by the man coding. "I need the crash cart!" Lexie yelled, when she was in the ER her voice was always heard.

"Charge to 150! Clear!" She held the paddles to the man's chest and shocked him, his body jolting up fast and flopping back down, his body hitting the gurney hard.

"Damnit, Charge to 200! Clear!" Lexie shocked the man again, nothing.

She shocked the man four more times, nothing each time. Lexie crushed under her breath and finally called it.

"Time of death 10:17." She threw her gloves and gown in the garbage bin in frustration. Caroline joined her as they sat in a deserted hallway on an empty gurney. Lexie pulled out her phone. She frowned when she read Spencer's text about leaving for a case. She loved hanging out with him. She was sad, but she definitely understood. Lexie had to cancel many dates because she had surgery.

Lexie
Okay. I'll be looking forward to your call :).

She sighed and opened the bag of chips Caroline had gotten for her.

"What's up? Caroline asked Lexie was frowning while looking down at her phone.

"Spencer's in New Mexico for a case, he doesn't know how long he'll be gone." She sighed looking up at Caroline who was sending a smirk Lexie's way. "What?" Lexie chuckled.

"Oh Lex, you've fallen hard for this guy." Caroline sighed looking back down at her pudding.

"And what's that supposed to mean exactly?" Lexie scoffed looking at Caroline.

"You tell me genius," Caroline smirked and jumped off the gurney walking back into the ER.

"Hey, Caro-" Lexie was interrupted by her pager going off. She chuckled and jogged back up to the OR floor.

Spencer spun in his chair thinking hard about where this unsub could be. That unsub was a sick son of a bitch who killed people at random. The team had been working on this case for almost a week. Spencer hoped they would catch this guy soon, he really wanted to see Lexie before she left for her boards.

"Reid!" Hotch called from the other side of the station causing Reid to stop spinning and look up at Hotch. "We've got an address, let's go."

The team loaded into their black SUVs and drove to the unsub's home. They entered the small home, guns at the ready, the man was sitting at his dining room table holding a gun to his own head.

"Jay, you don't have to do this," JJ spoke to the man softly. The whole team knew that this man would kill himself anyway, no one could talk him down.

"Yes I do!" and then the gun went off. Everyone sighed and headed out of the home. Feeling the disappointment.

.......

A knock at the door made Lexie jump, she was sitting on her couch reading another medical book. Boards were five days away and she couldn't stop thinking about the test. She couldn't stop thinking about having to fly again. She couldn't stop thinking about Mark.

She hadn't realized she was crying until she stood up and looked in the small mirror by her door, her face was puffy and her eyes were red. Great.

"Spencer!" she exclaimed, pulling him into a hug. He was just what she needed, she was having a rough night. It was September, the month Mark died, this year would be the second anniversary. She hadn't told Spencer about Mark, she wanted too but she couldn't bring herself to talk about her past lover with her new boyfriend.

He chuckled and pulled away walking into the apartment when he turned to Lexie he saw her puffy, tear-ridden face. "Lex what's wrong?" he walked over to her and grabbed her hands.

She really didn't want to have a breakdown in front of Spencer, but she couldn't help the tears that poured down her face. She walked into Spencer's arms. He held her close for what felt like hours. Eventually, Lexie calmed down and looked up into Spencer's eyes. She had to tell him. She signed and brought him over the couch and sat so she was facing him.

"I have to tell you something." She sniffed, looking up into Spencer's bright eyes.

"Lexie please tell me what's wrong," Spencer said with worried eyes, he never wanted Lexie to feel this amount of sadness. He cared so deeply for this girl. Lexie took a deep breath and started to explain.

"Two years ago, I was in a plane crash, a really bad one. My sister, co-workers, and boyfriend were all involved. Mark, my boyfriend was stuck under a detached wing. He died, right in front of me." She sobbed, "He was the love of my life. The crash happened two years ago on the 27th. And I have to fly again to go to California to take my boards, I-I don't know if I can.'' She was in hysterics.

Spencer sat in shock. She'd gone through what he had been through. He pulled her close to him, he blinked away the tears that pooled in his eyes, he couldn't do that right now, Lexie needed him.

"Oh, Spencer I'm so sorry. I shouldn't be crying about my past lover to you. I can't be with him or love him anymore, I have you know, I love you now." She froze at her words, she definitely didn't mean to say that. Of course, she loved Spencer, he was the perfect man. She looked up at him and met his surprised eyes. She sobbed and ran to the bathroom, locking the doors behind her. She couldn't believe she had just said all that.

Spencer was frozen. She had also watched the love of her life die and she loved him now. He was overtaken by emotion. He got up and walked to the bathroom. He knocked softly on the door hoping she'd answer. "Lexie?"

"Spencer, I'm so sorry, I'm so so sorry. She wailed.

"Just unlock the door please," he whispered. She sat up and slowly unlocked and opened the door.

"Lexie, please don't be sorry. I know what it's like to lose the love of your life, to watch someone you love die. My girlfriend, Maeve, was killed right in front of me. Almost two years ago." He sighed. Her eyes grew wide.

He understood, he really understood.

They looked into one another's eyes for a long time. Spencer pulled lexie into him, they hugged each other tightly. When Spencer pulled away he chuckled.

"We're a mess, but we can be messes together I guess." he put his hands on Lexie's shoulders.

"Messes together." she smiled, laying her head on his hand, closing her eyes.

"Oh, and lexie?" she hummed in response, keeping her head on his hand and eyes closed.

"I love you too."
